G3 vs Lowe Jet Boat | Running SHALLOW Rapids!

My buddy Ben recently purchased a Lowe jet boat and wanted to take it out on the river alongside my G3. We headed to the Great Miami River in Ohio to hit their shallow rapids!

I have a 2018 just like your G3 115/80 and honestly I've been in 5 inches of water and my fishing buddy was with me. What happened is we were fishing at the edge of 5' of water and the engine clogged with moss and we couldn't get the anchor in the river before it floated through a stretch of water that was no more than 5 inches and we had no choice but to go back the same way and my buddy was holding his breath he said oh you gonna drag and I was all to pieces because I don't take chances anymore. I opened it half way in a second and off we went. I can't afford to tear it up. I had a 17' crestliner 2016 with 50 HP jet but it just didn't suit me because you set in the floor an couldn't get up because my legs are worn out so I traded it for my G3 and I love it. I haven't used it 20 times and the crestliner was a 1000 lbs heavier although I did pick it up and put it on the truck hitch. Tongue must have weighed 350 but at 65 years old and 6'5" a has been football player I also was getting too old to go out an lift it. Just wasn't a river boat had it been a prop driven would have been a good lake boat and it worked great on lake. Sorry to talk so much but I'm 71 now and all my family is gone I talk to JESUS so much I have to give him a break. Thanks an be safe on the water people have lost their minds.

What was the shallowest water you think you ran in this video? On either boat did you have to make any modifications to the hulls?

The shallowest part was probably 6 inches,both boats have a tunnel hull feeding the jet drive.

howdy..how much space would you say there is between the front of the foot and the top of the tunnel?i just bought a new crestliner 1870 with a 80 jet and i think they mointed the engine to low.its about 1.5 from the foot to the top of the tunnel.there is 1 mounting hole left to go up.

Probably about flush with the bottom of the boat, the grate sits at a slight angle when trimmed all the way down so that it hopefully skips over rocks

The river averages 5-10 feet, about 6” to 2 feet through the rapids.

Yamaha boat and a yamaha motor only way to go!! That 115/80 jet is definitely the minimum if your gonna run fast water. 90/60 is okay if you don't mind more dents in bottom. 60/40 save your money until you can get a 115/80.
