In the old days (60's/70's), we used to mod the crank vent systems and just let a hose hang down from the engine. We attached the hoses to look OEM and not one inspection station ever caught the mod and our cars ran awesome.

That's not all we did. We used to 86 all the pollution hoses, coffee cans (yes they used coffee cans on brand new cars), and deleted the hell out of everything including cats. Nobody cared. I noticed it on mine when the car is warmed up you get a pretty quite a bit of fuel vapours with the vehicle stopped at idle.
@cmscms1234562 жыл бұрын
Even better, a piece of rubber hose, leading horizontally about 20" to the back or the motor, then down about 15" to the bottom of the motors. This excessive length allows the pressure/vapor to cool and dissipate... toy might get a drop or two of oil.. occasionally, the the long length of tubing allows cooling of the vapor. thus the oil easily clings to the inner wall of the rubber hose. Change the hose every 1 million miles.

The G37’s use the new(but no longer used in the new turbo motors) VVEL and according to Nissan the TB flaps are always open and the intake valve controls the amount of air that enters in the engine. Definitely helps with response since the whole intake system is full of air. Low RPM’s like idling the valve hardly opens and then at high RPM the intake valve opens a lot more and for a longer duration of time for more air. The TB’s are there Incase there’s something wrong with the VVEL system and I’m not 100% sure but I think it also acts as a vacuum for the brakes maybe i dont know.

I'm curious if you've got sludge build-up inside the engine since you're relying on a little bit of positive pressure to evacuate the crankcase instead of applied vacuum like the PCV system uses. No doubt a little bit of the vapors are getting to your filters, but how much is getting left behind inside the crankcase?

I never had no problems of oil dripping on my covers. not that I recalled. but looking at those breathers that was put on your g37 ,it will get dirty with oil over time. btw , any thing that blows out. things drag out with the air aswell. Thank you for the video, nice update after 10k miles, Let me tell you I have done the same to my car and im going to share what i done, instead a filter I put a catchcan so the breather dont drop oil in the engine or the ground so the vaporized oil is condensed inside the can, is a little more environmental friendly and less messy, that is my setup you use what works for you. Question: you removed the PCV valve? or just the hose setup?
@PhilipSamuelson6 жыл бұрын
Nice vid, you original vid was something I referenced before installing mine. What I ended up doing was running some rubber lines from the PCV outlets to above the wheel wells. My HR motor tends to allow some condensation out of the crankcase, adding longer lines allows the condensation to collect in the lines at the lowest point along with any oil that comes out, I made those areas removable for easy cleaning. Doing that as a super cheap mod has helped keep the filters clean and the whole system working beautifully. Keep on rocking, my G brother!

Anybody tried to drill out the "valve" inside an OEM pcv valve, running a hose to some other coupler that will accept a filter? I have a pristine 2007 Matrix with the original 1.8liter and simply don't want to throw waste oil blowby into my combustion chamber and could give a rats rear end about the supposed "clean air" BS. We were told that ethanol would be good for the environment but they forgot about all the chemical waste used to make the alcohol/gas mixture and what it has done to water tables......also we have already sacrificed way too much for the "God" at the EPA so to hell with it, I'm gonna make my 37000 mile 13 year old Matrix run as clean as at all possible and see just how many miles someone can get out of a known reliable engine without running crap through its injectors and combustion chamber. I would really like some info on a threaded device I could use to simply replace the oem pcv valve, run tubing into another device that would allow for the attachment of a small breather filter. ANYBODY have any ideas toss em out. I have done the "drill out the valve" trick and that does seem to work but I need to find the caps to close off the rest of the original set up and also need to find out where and how to find the filters and the device I could attach the new hose into to then allow for that filter. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
