I am am excited to try this. I just wanted to point out that the wooden fermentation vessel leaves open the possibility of tremendous batch variation, from year to year on this Blanco. The different flavor compounds that can leach into the liquid, as well as the possibility of different yeasts or bacterias impacting the fermentation could be very interesting. If G4 produces a second run of this next year, you Guys should definitely plan on doing a side by side with the '22 v '23.

I think you guys got this one right. As a hard-core tequila drinker, this blanco is amazing and sits in the upper echelon of currently produced blancos (think Fortaleza Still Strengh or Fuenteseca Cosecha 2018).

Perfect timing for me! I was back at Epcot yesterday _(I live in Orlando and just bought an annual pass for the first time since before Covid),_ but this time started at the other side. My second stop, after a hard cider sampler, was "La Cava del Tequila" in the Mexico pavilion, which specializes in, you guessed it, Vodka! 🤣 But seriously, I can't ever remember sipping tequila in my entire life _(age 53 now),_ but because of you guys I decided to give it a try. Since I wanted it to be a good experience, and since I had seen the brand on this channel several times, I went for the G4 Extra Anejo. It was the most expensive pour for me yet _(over $30 at Disney),_ but it was at least a double, if not more. The plastic cup was about half full, and felt like a standard rocks glass. Anyway, I was shocked at just how much I liked it. I still prefer whiskey, but now I'm interested in trying much more Tequila. 😎

@@CuriosityPublic I have a terrible nose, and very little experience describing the taste especially with tequila, but I'll give my notes anyway. Even 24 hours later, I have a few vivid memories. First was the mouth feel, which almost seemed oily when compared to other things I've had lately. For flavor, what immediately came to mind for me was cactus candy, which I haven't had in years, but really like. Lastly, being mostly a bourbon guy, I actually enjoyed the lack of the burn. It kind of made it seem flat at first, but I got over it.

The magic is the Pipones. Each of the three batches so far have tasted different. Its like more intense flavor than different however. If you leave it in your mouth for like 10 seconds the flavor really flashes off in a pleasing way.

I just got 3 bottles of the Madera at $69.99 (Up $10 from the 2 years ago reviewed here.) I bought 1 bottle and trident. Before I finished half of my pour I got up, drove back to K&L Wines to buy 2 more (Which turned out to be the last 2) Noticeably gone is the small side label with the number the label of your bottle/ 10,000. That leads me to wonder if they are now making this as a regular release instead of a limited release. It does, however, have the 2024 gold sticker overlapping the front top corner of the label. Curious isn't it?

Interesting that this is one of the few (if any) clear spirits that you guys have reviewed in the USC, maybe other clears like gin , genever, or acquavit should compete🤔 Other blancos too, of course, along with white rums.

They have always used open wood fermentation tanks at La Altena next door. Tapatio and Ocho made there.

This is supposed to be “ultimate SPIRITS comparison” not “ultimate BLANCO comparison” all the reasons you have of lifting the scores are because of what it’s doing as a blanco not as an overall spirit or even tequila. This whole thing should be scrapped”

I would disagree. Say “sports” for example, I don’t think we would compare athletes merely by speed, strength, etc. We would rank them by how well they do in their given sport. Can’t compare a football player to a basketball player to a golfer to a wrestler. All uniquely different sports that require different athletic capabilities. I would say the same about spirits- different ingredients, in different climates with different distillation processes. Just my opinion 🙏🏽
