There was also another Sonic movie that was planned. It was a animated film in the same art style as the newer Archie Sonic comics from late 90's early 2000's. Guess what art style it was based on? Yeah, it was based on Ken Penders' art style, it was supposed to be a sonic animated film that he would have had some involvement in. Thank god it didn't happen, because Ken Penders is a horrible person.

I always find it interesting that Hollywood is so determined to go so far away from the source material that it then boggles their minds that it somehow fails. Sure, a 100% accurate adaptation is impossible for most games and their lore. But you can be faithful to it and still deliver a good movie/TV series. Why is that so hard to understand?

This was a fun watch. I was glad to see Stranglehold mentioned during the John Woo/Metroid segment. Interestingly enough, that game itself was a sequel to Woo's 1992 film, "Hard Boiled," and was even considered for it's own film adaptation at the time. I would have loved to see a sequel to that and more in that universe, especially with Vin, but I also understand I'm as alone in this fandom as that one remaining Artifact player.

I feel like Hollywood always overthinks game movies since their stories are usually basic. 1) _Joust:_ Sports movie that involves riding giant mutant chickens. 2) _Bionic Commando:_ Cyborg super soldier with a grappling hook fights Nazis. 3) _Galaga:_ Top Gun fighting giant space bugs. 4) _Frogger:_ A fun journey adventure like DreamWorks and Pixar. 5) _Castlevania:_ A Hammer horror film but with more monsters and action.

Oh thank god, that a live action castlevania movie wasn't released. Instead we got an animated series that was based on games. Also, a spin off series is in the works featuring Richter Belmont as the main protagonist.

It's not a hard lesson but it seems like Hollywood will never learn it. Part of the reason these video games get popular enough to warrant a movie made out of them is their lore. It's already there! What is it with movie adaptations of games and nostalgic properties always being prequels? A lot of these movie ideas were supposed to happen before the games. The Uncharted movie is a prequel, the GI Joe films are all prequels, the Halo TV doesn't get to the titular Halo until the end of the season -- why can't they just do adaptations of the things we actually want to see?

I know I am in the minority, but I loved Super Mario Bros. It's not a GOOD movie, but I don't know if I'd call it "so-bad-it's-good" movie. Though I also liked Pixels and the first Resident Evil.
