G5 should have just put the money and effort into redesigning the Deadmeat with thicker blades and better retention system.

All of these companies need to stop producing mechanical broad heads. They are just not worth the risk to the animals we hunt.

@tray22
@tray22 Ай бұрын
@@hunterbragg2566 not heavy but more weight forward is helpful. I setup light but stuff arrows with a weight insert and a 125-150 broadhead. Arrows aren't a ton heavier but the foc is great. I am an engineer and strictly follow KISS. If it has moving parts but doesn't need them, it goes in the trash. Mechanical heads lead to less pass through shots, broken arrows, broad heads, and they are built to make money not ethical kills. SEVR seems to be the only one on the market that builds a mechanical head that isn't designed to be disposable. On the heavy arrow comment you do realize at longer distances heavier is better right? Your KE that is much more important with mechanicals drops very fast on lighter arrow setups.

@@tray22have you shot a heavy arrow vs a light arrow at distance (70+)? You have to hit what you’re aiming at for it to be better
@hunterbragg2566
@hunterbragg2566 Ай бұрын
@@tray22 yea your right but who wants a rainbow for a trajectory. My ke is way up there and I shoot a very light arrow at high poundage and never had issue with penetration. These newer bows are fast so why shoot something that’s heavy. I’ve used mechanicals only and never had issues. Now on the other hand I see myself as a pretty good shooter I’ve won many tournaments and I only shoot for lungs. I can shoot 150+ with my setups. Now I wouldn’t shoot an animal that far unless it was in an open plain area. I understand the heavy concept and everything i just see having a faster setup gives less time to react for the animal and the ke at normal 20-40 yard shot is higher than any heavy arrow I shoot a 342 grain 300 spine arrow out of my bows at 29.5 inch draw from 70-82lbs getting speed of 340+ on all my bows. Now ur an engineer u know that I’m making good ke to all the way out to 140 yards more so than a 500grain at 270fps you can calculate that. I have high ke everyone talks about I just maximize the speed of my bow to get it and my arrow has 12%foc. Not talking bad but your way more intelligent then I am and I know speeds that fast with arrow that light can do the same cause they have the same ke. My arrow is perfectly spined with sharp Broadheads so penetration is no issue.

Yeah, there was a slight bit of wobble. But like I say many times when people bring that up, I could not see that with a naked eye. But the camera is zoomed way in and then I expand that when I am editing. So you are looking at probably 10 times closer than the naked eye.

Its not bad, just not great either. Your sample was a lot sharper than what i have seen others coming in. The blades breaking on steel isnt great. I will say at least they made it that far though. Well, because there are mechs that can hold up to the steel plate extremely well. Another amazing review. I've always wondered why Rage and now G5 don't suck the back of those blades closer to the feral to get that broadhead more compact in flight like the old Rocky Mountain Snyper. I actually use to not use the shock collars on Rage and use a rubber band because I could get it a lot more compact.

@@LuskArcheryAdventures I had good results with the Sevr 1.5. The Sevr 2” was another story. Around a dozen animals I shot that had small exit holes. I lost a few animals that I ended up killing later in the season. I really feel the way the Sevrs “lock” open is their weak spot.

is it possible to do some test with a lower poundage setup like 60#? I am curious as to how many of these mechanicals fair at a lower poundage. Great review as always.
@LuskArcheryAdventures
@LuskArcheryAdventures Ай бұрын
Thanks. The point of the testing is to show how broadheads compare to one another under the same stresses and strains and conditions. I shoot them at 67# and 27” draw, so they would not be far off of yours if you have a longer draw than me. But the draw weights really don’t matter in the testing, since they all endure the same.
@Steve-ce1mh
@Steve-ce1mh Ай бұрын
@@LuskArcheryAdventures that makes complete sense. I think I was looking at it more towards a penetration/deployment test and how it does at lower draw weight, but now I completely understand where you are coming from by keeping the same standard setup across the board.
