Easily one of the better mods for the money. Wakes em up. Nice car. I dig it

I wonder how the TCC made out with this? There is a certain slip ratio the PCM is targeting and it will simply add additional apply pressure to hit that target, as can be seen by the same RPMs once the car is cruising and no longer accelerating. Ideally you'd want to change those targets to account for the additional stall speed so it doesn't burn up the clutch.
@TheDailyAmerican2 жыл бұрын
Most of your aftermarket stall converters have clutches that were designed to be locked instead of slipped like stock. We don’t have control of the PID tables to account for the loose stall not aiding the clutch in controlling slip. It is normal best to set it for zero slip rpm and adjust the pressure to assure clean engagements without being to harsh. However, there are a few that can be allowed to slip successfully. Consult your manufacturer.

@@TheDailyAmerican Hey, thanks for the reply. That's what I was wondering out of curiosity. FWIW from my experience with the earlier VPW/CAN PCMs the parameters are there, but they are not supplied in aftermarket tuners, which sucks as the car would run much better otherwise. As far as I can tell this is due to them being based off of the cal. data supplied directly from GM, which was pretty sparse from some of the ones I had.

i'm not understanding the point of a stall. i'm not seeing a difference. people say after installing a stage 2 cam its required but don't get why as its not really explained that much in laymens terms.

Would this be good for a stock G8? I want it to be like my Firebird that can spin tires whenever. The G8 seems too strict stock. All I have is a full exhaust and intake but it should still spin easy.
@TheDailyAmerican4 жыл бұрын
Tq management is pretty strict without tuning. The stall should help but you will need a tune for that as well. I remote tune if your interested.
@pontiacmaniac77724 жыл бұрын
Reuben Eldridge at E Tuned Performance I got torque management reduced a little bit but that didn’t do anything. I think I’ll get a stall and a tune. I’m looking at a 278mm circle D 3200. And thanks for the offer but I have a performance shop 5 mins from my house I go to.
@TheDailyAmerican4 жыл бұрын
Pontiac Maniac no worries. Circle d is a great product. Remember when it comes to stalls high is good but higher is more fun. 3200 will be sufficient for a stock cam
@pontiacmaniac77724 жыл бұрын
Reuben Eldridge at E Tuned Performance Oh well I want to get a BTR stage 2 later on so I guess I should go with a 3400 or maybe even a 3600
@TheDailyAmerican4 жыл бұрын
Pontiac Maniac depends on your goals and driving stoke but for sure wow factor. Go full 4K. The lock up clutch will bring the rpms down when cruising.

i am trying to buy a stall but have no idea which one i have 2009 g8 gt i have installed a linfenfelter gt12 cam (227/235 duration @ .050 lift - .614/.621 lift with 1.7 rocker) and i have cai, headers, catback oh and i deleted dod so which stall speed do you recommend. thaks
@TheDailyAmerican7 жыл бұрын
kabbas1 really anything in the 3200-3600 stall range will suit your needs. Drivability with a cam and converter is all in the tune. That stall range tho should make great use of the camshaft's power band. You can always call and have one spec'd custom.

oh ok thanks

What do you suggest would be a good daily a big cam? I know that's kind of a double negative but I want most bang,for buck power and am not super familiar with these,l76s. I keep seeing to run nothing bigger than a .600 lift but I feel like that's not true.. Id like to hear input of people that actually own these cars and drive them
@TheDailyAmerican6 жыл бұрын
Michael Kalisz you can daily any size can you wish it just depends on if you can live with it or not. The lift limit is due to valve spring life. The higher the lift the shorter the life. Then again, buying the best parts plays a part as well. Just decide on how radicle you want to be and what your focus is for the car to decide your cam. Also take into consideration boost and nitrous. Then get a list of appropriate supporting mods and a really good tuner. I currently daily mine in the stock converter(since this converter failed) and a 223/232 .600/.599 111lsa
@kaliszmichael6236 жыл бұрын
Reuben Eldridge at E Tuned Performance I will be doing a supercharger down the road and I'm looking for drivability, of course I want that nasty lope... I mean who doesn't... But I want most power for the cam, so I'm not going back and doing another cam later... I can't have this car down very long since it is a daily and I would do a 660 lift dual valve springs set up I am just concerned with piston to valve clearance.
@TheDailyAmerican6 жыл бұрын
Michael Kalisz well there are several max effort boost cams available. Your going to be working with a wider Lsa for boost. Contact blue line performance so see about a custom cam kit. When it comes to drivability and the really nasty sound, those are things a good tuner should be able to give you even with a boost cam

Very nice man! I love the car. I wanted to ask though, since you did it, as a daily driver would you still recommend doing a stall? Would you do it all over again? thanks
@TheDailyAmerican7 жыл бұрын
Christopher Cavazos stall...yes. I would choose a better one but yes a stall is a lot of fun and tuned correctly it daily's just fine. I would choose a better daily cam haha but a stall most definitely
@CC-ts2se7 жыл бұрын
Cool thanks thanks! Does it have any problem locking up at low RPM hwy speed?
@CC-ts2se7 жыл бұрын
My main concern in FL is heat. The stall will generate more of it if I'm not mistaking. I mean I could always put an AUX cooler in.
@TheDailyAmerican7 жыл бұрын
Christopher Cavazos I live in south ga and I don't run a cooler. Just a colder thermostat and tweaked fan settings. It locks just fine at any rpm I set it for

Do you think that high of a stall would work well with a Magnacharger? Or go a little lower like a 2500 stall?
@TheDailyAmerican8 жыл бұрын
normally you want a lower stall to take advantage of the wide powerband a supercharger provides

Reuben Eldridge at E Tuned Performance Nice I can see how up top it kind of dies off on acceleration, have you done any test to see how much improvement you got from the converter, I’m having a circle d hp series installed to my g8 along with a cam and some head work I had previously done.. I’m trying to get as close to 11s as I can without doing pistons rods or heads.. I’ve seen on forums and other KZbin channels some people are running mid to low 11s on the same setup gonna be running just wondering if it made a noticeable difference with the car and if you took it to the track yet what the times were

can someone fill me in on what a "stall" means?
@TheDailyAmerican7 жыл бұрын
Frederic Garcia the term stall refers to the rpm at which the torque converter will stop the engine from climbing any higher. It effectively "stalls" the engine at this rpm until the brakes are released or the vehicles speed becomes sufficient to allow for higher rpm.
@unfundedtony48147 жыл бұрын
Reuben Eldridge at E Tuned Performance ohhhh, makes sense to me now. Thank you
