Hector De Jesus yeah the gh4 is still good 3 years later it’s incredible but the ibis has definitely been a significant advance!

The G85 price dropped $100 recently (a month or so ago) so do you think they might discontinue the G85 once they're sold out? How long do they typically keep selling older models? The G7 has been around a long time but they need at least one cheap model to get people interested in getting a "real" camera instead of their cell phone.

I believe the G90 will be a direct replacement for the G80/85 and will be an evolution of this camera. I can tell by the design that it may be thought of as a budget G9 as it shares similar design cues such as on the viewfinder/flash housing and placement of the buttons on the right side top plate. I guess image quality will be virtually identical to the G9 and GH5 thanks to all three using a similar 20mp sensor. If I was still rocking the G80 (I'm in Britain :) and hadn't upgraded to the G9 I would certainly upgrade to the G90.

The best way to guess what the g90 will be is how far off it will be with the G9. Here's some list: - its fps should be way less than the g9. If the g9 can do 20fps, g90 might just do 8 or 10 fps. - buffer may be limited to 5-6 seconds only - no 4k-60p. - less weather sealing vs the G9 - maybe less AF-points (49 like before?) - no log in video - What it might have are: -20mp instead of 16mp - very close IQ to the G9 due to the use of the same processor - improved DFD AF like the G9 - BT - 4k has no crop - maybe same battery as the G9? - most likely the same IBIS performance as the G9 or at least 1 stop less. If as you said the G9 now can be had for U$1,200, then the G90 can no longer be U$1,000. It has to drop to around U$800, at most no more than U$900, to keep distance from the G9. Otherwise, one might just get the G9 if the g90 is priced at U$1000 like before. But even more worrying, Sony is poised to release an XT-3 killer or match likely this year. And it will be in the U$1,500. Again, MFT is being squeezed to justify its pricing. With better AF-C, eye-focus, good video, better DR, and low light/high ISO performance, the G90 might be in for a tough fight. I had the g85. I love it overall. But when the light went down, I am stuck at ISO 3200 max. I get irritated that I cannot go past it. This is not counting I only have 16mp vs 24mp of most aps-c cameras and maybe be able to use it at ISO 6400 or 8000 easily as the upper limit. MFT is in trouble now because it used to get away with overpricing their cameras. When the A7-3 came out at U$2,000, it's now hard to justify the same price for the GH5, or even the GH5S which is about the same price. No matter how feature laden the video of these cameras are, it is patently obvious that Panasonic is charging way high for these cameras. Now the GH5 is a more sedate U$1,500. The G9 was introduced at around U$1,700 then. Now it is correct to be at U$1,200. MFT sensors are way cheaper vs 35FF. And now that Fuji has the XT-3 at U$1,400, it's really hard to justify the G9 costing more than that. With the XT-30 and the sony a6400 taking the U$900 spot, the future G90 has to be around that ballpark at least. Then it should settle down to U$800 in 6 months. I also think Panasonic is best to pare down their lineup to 3. The GXxxx series, the Gxx and the GH. With MFTt slowing down and being eaten by aps-c and 35FF, and smartphones also getting better, there is no need to have so many in the lineup. Maybe 4-5 is possible, but those extra 2 are old models. The G85 could still be there, for maybe U$750 and so with older GXxxx models way lower.

well the g85 is already weather sealed so not sure about that.. hoping they upgrade the weather resistance to g9 levels though because olympus has been able to do that with their em5ii for years and that's priced similar to the g85!
