I actually opted to get the Rokinon 85mm f/1.4 for my G85. I love it. Took a long time to get used to manual focus and relying on focus peaking, but I discovered shooting that fast that I really need an ND filter, which I have no experience with. Great video. Thanks!

No worries man glad you found it useful and that lens is quite good! Do you find it a bit too long for m43 though?
@tylonblaslol5 жыл бұрын
Kim Cruz It’s still technically a 42.5. It’s just that Rokinon brands their lenses at full frame sizes. :)

@@tylonblaslol ahh nice!! yeah most things i hear about rokinon are positive, come to think about it i haven't heard anything negative about their lenses aside from the MF only but you can work around that!

Dusty or wet conditions with one camera body will necessitate a zoom lens over a prime. Also focal length to subject will create shallow depth of field.

As a wedding video shooter I use the sigma 18-35mm the most and with gimbal shots I use the tokina 11-16mm...on my g85

I think that’s probably the most ‘pro’ setup you can have in m43... apparently every serious film maker ends up with that set up haha!

@@KimCruz1 Yes, Very popular setup. My favorite prime is the Panasonic 42.5mm f1.7. I use that occasionally and quality out of that tiny lens is amazing!

Jorge Martinez yeah it’s my second most used lens on any shoot for sure! Tiny tiny tiny but the quality is great!

2 zooms, currently 6 primes. So team prime I guess. Actually trying to make my prime collection a bit more uniform at the moment (6 primes are from 6 different brands). Among them I have the Sigma 16mm f1.4 and the Olympus 75mm f1.8. Having a hell of a time trying to decide whether to go with the Sigma 16, 30 & 56mm or Olympus 17, 45 & 75mm. I will need to sell all my other primes to do this. Sigma is pretty stunning for the price, renders well and fastest native non pro glass. But man it is big and heavy compared to the competition. Olympus options are way lighter and tiny by comparison and give me a larger focal range to boot, no problem carrying these around all day even if I don't end up using them. Low light is a decent purchasing factor though, I really look to my primes when my Panasonic 12-35 f2.8 just doesn't cut it. The Sigma's are a full 2 stops brighter here, the Olympus lenses are 1 1/3 faster. I'm leaning towards the Olympus. The weight and bulk of the Sigma lenses is there 100% of the time, while the low light disadvantage of the Olympus lenses is there but not massive. The frequency of which the low light advantages of the Sigma's is going to save me over the Olympus options would be pretty low I'd think. Not enough at least to justify the 900+ grams plus the bulk of the Sigma's over the 540grams of the Olympus lenses.

hey man, i have one heavy lens, the sigma 18-35 and even though it is great for the job, i pretty much hate carrying it around all the time lol... i would go with the lighter gear 99% of the time too!

@@KimCruz1 went with the Olympus option. So glad I did. The size difference between the Olympus 17mm f/1.8 next to the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 is almost comical. Loving the manual clutch there too.

Dominic Ryan hehe glad you found the right lens! And yeah the size and weight difference is significant lol

I guessed correctly, but only because I saw a zoom lens in the scene in video, so I figured that was being shot on a prime lol

Which camera did you use for video 1 and 2?
@KimCruz15 жыл бұрын
For video 1 it was a mix of the g85 and the g7, and for video 2 it was all on the g85

Kim you ever used sigma lenses ? I got the 16 and 30 I returned my 42.5 for the 30. No regrets
@KimCruz15 жыл бұрын
Nice unfortunately not but I hear good things about them! Do you mostly work in video or photo?
@tbd36025 жыл бұрын
Kim Cruz I’m in the process of breaking into the industry but I’m more into video. I have the g7. I want to upgrade to the g9 mostly cuz Panasonic has amazing video which is my focus but I do want something that has great photos as well.
@tbd36025 жыл бұрын
Kim Cruz the 30 is amazing I honestly would choose it over the 42.5 it’s also cheaper I really like it
@KimCruz15 жыл бұрын
HealthMade- EZ ok thanks man I might check it out but another thing I look for is how small the lenses are and how close they can focus... if the opportunity arises I’ll check it out!
@tbd36025 жыл бұрын
Kim Cruz ya man maybe compare the sigma 30 to the 42.5 because there is like 0 comparisons of those two head to head
