Glynn native here. I recently found this channel after this negligent incident happened and I applaud your consistency with the creation of content on this matter, great job.

The platform was already broken. The guy who inspected it, said it was already broken.
@actionjack84Ай бұрын
Aha. Source? So the carrying member(s) already had damage. It could be that simple. Shoulda been repaired, replaced or cordoned off.

Thanks for sharing, to make sure this never happens again. And those responsible are held accountable.

Daufuskie Island SC is next if our County keeps turning a deaf ear to our cries for safety on our dock and ferry.

Thank you for asking the question regarding the accusation of neglect by the state. That got hushed in the press conference because they weren't ready for it. It's something that if proven - and there's no reason to doubt the guy, but evidence speaks volumes, would be a huge issue here. And Thank You Captain Andy for covering this. I wouldn't of known about it had I not been a subscriber since the Golden Ray. "What's going on with shipping" has also directed people to your channel to get information about this tragedy. Thanks Captain Andy!

Looks like gnat season in the Isles. Good on these people making noise and good on Andy for the coverage. They have to be very serious to be out during a Brunswick gnat season--flying teeth for sure.

I very much appreciate this group's efforts to make sure that this sort of accident never occurs again...however, I heard a hint of a broader political agenda which - even if it's a noble one (and it sounds like it might be) - could run the risk of using the deceased persons from this incident as props for it...IF people perceive that to be the case, their broader agenda might suffer...tread lightly, folks... Nice journalism work, Captain Andy!!!

I know what you're talking about, but maybe now someone will listen to these folks and stop the corrupt money hungry local and state government from running all over them. It's been going on for many decades. This story is surely to shine a spotlight on ALL of their concerns. Bless the victims of this tragedy.

Black caucus? Is this race-baiting? Or opportunism?

It's representation.

It is utterly ridiculous & very American....representation by skin colour...🙄

The very first speaker, Rep Gilliard, actually at 01:55 he says "you gotta say ALL LIVES MATTER". Hallelujah.

@_Ben4810 Perhaps if your people had been disregarded, you might perceive things differently.

All those lawyers and politicians and did anyone mention the custody of the gangway, preserving evidence, or having an open and public investigation?

Condolences to all in this tragic accident. This group is coming off as greedy and political. I'm sure given some time, all questions and solutions will be had.

Isn't this as simple as the gangway simply wasn't rated for that much weight? Can we get some specifics from the gentleman who claims to have reported a "problem". What was the problem he reported? Everyone carries a smartphone these days. Did he not take a photo to support his claim of a problem to report? That gangway was quite long and the carrying members didn't appear to be very large. We know it kinked somewhere near mid span. I'd have to to put money on simply overloaded by too many people at that moment. Maybe, there was some corrosion that contributed to it, or a previous overweight damage? Was anything transported across the gangway recently that could have overstressed it? Was it damaged in someway from the recent storms?

Teach your children and family how to swim or STAY AWAY FROM WATER. Its not that hard folks. I feel bad for you but seriously. If you can't swim, dont go anywhere near boats or the water. The YMCA has lessons for free. Every father, regardless of income, can get their kid swim lessons.
@beth952Ай бұрын
Have you ever "swam" in a murky Coastal Georgia river? Have you ever been horrified in surprise to be safe and dry and all of a sudden fighting for your life in the dark water? Unlikely, or you wouldn't leave such a comment!😡
@thomastyler3890Ай бұрын
I am quite sure the residents who have lived on the Island all of their lives are excellent swimmers and boaters. They probably know more about those waters than the average person can imagine. All of the people affected were older Island visitors and grew up during a time that they could not enter a YMCA building, much less take swimming lessons in a public pool. They probably fought the right of free speech which people use to unjustly criticize them. It was reasonable for them to think the gangway was safe.
