Blastvee, he's not actually constantly covered by it, hence when we get to situations like Sasuke vs Gaara 1, Gaara can chose whether his Mother is actually covering him or not, also, remember this, Gaara was able to escape his sand shell when he was kicked far into the air when Rock Lee grunted for a moment, and this kid was massively at least Super Sonic at the time with the blinding speed, and they were kids then, but just a single grunt of agony gave Gaara enough time to warp out of the shell of sand and seemingly disappear from the entire Arena... AS KIDS, the concept that Crocodile could touch him doesn't honestly work...

to be fair, Crocodile doesn't have to touch you to dehydrate you. He was able to reduce luffys sandals to sand from a distance when they came into contact with the ground. And he was first shown reducing a whole pirate crew to mummys without touching any of them. Also, gaara may be capable of moving quickly, but he usually doesn't. He's known for standing stock still and letting his sand do the work. As long as gaara has sand, he'll guard not dodge.

People confuse Gaara's ability... He seems like a Sand Bender but he is NOT There's a reason he always keeps a big gourd of sand which is also made of sand because he has infused his chakra with that sand. He can use the sand from surroundings but he needs to prepare it first by infusing his chakra or he uses his gourd sand to carry other sand. Crocodile doesn't have any such limitations except simple natural counter, that is liquid. I'm seeing people mentioning that Gaara could use water which is funny as Gaara's own ability will be effected by it. Though, I don't know how people are forgetting this... that Crocodile can suck out moisture from anything and everything turning everything to sand. Gaara has no defense against that, instead of dispersing like a sand clone, Gaara will die dispersing like a sand clone.

Crocodile could probably beat Toph as well, She has nothing capable of defeating Crocodile or even dealing a meaningful blow as well, plus it's very unlikely that Toph would know that Water is needed or possess Haki either. Crocodile can easily turn to sand at will and, with his Poisonous Hook and Dehydration grab, All Crocodile has to do is get up close for the Kill.

Well it's not like avatar characters would ever stand a chance against One Piece characters that aren't complete fodder. Makes sense. Garaa had no knowledge and way of countering crocs intangibility. There's nothing that could suggest garaa could manipulate crocs sand even with magnetic style or the 1-tail. And only haki users (like nearly every major fighter at marineford that touched crocs) and liquids can touch crocs, 1-tail or magnetic style still cannot. While garaa's sand is infused with blood nothing suggests it's liquid but is it suggested as a dry, crystallised blood through appearance and Kankuro descriptions which isn't liquid. On top of that, garaa's other skills are sub-par at best since he very rarely uses them and rarely gets a victory through them without sand. Inherently, crocs got an unfair advantage but an massive advantage none the less.

So unless anyone has good feats for his destructive capacity than I doubt he’s more powerful than Garra which is at least Town level in the war arc. Also idk how fast Croc is cuz it’s been awhile so unless he’s faster than a lightning timer then he’s not faster than Garra and can only escape through sand shit. Garra’s isn’t gonna he controlled by Croc either, not only is Garra more powerful and has wider control over sand but his Mother’s soul is within the sand that protects him without him even thinking, and his normal sand has his own charka in it so Croc can’t Fucken control it and Toph shouldn’t have been able to do shit to him either cuz she was slower, weaker, and couldn’t control his sand either just watch SethTheProgrammer’s video. That slipped my mind but it is still a "Could have". He applied it in only certain situations and sealing was never his go to, more of a last choice. Unfortunately, many people sealed by the sand either accepted defeat or were already defeated (e.g. His father, the 3rd mizukage and the 3rd raikage). Madara ripped it apart and escaped choosing to do so on one attempt to seal him. There is nothing to suggest crocs or garra could manipulate each others sand. They can both wield sand around them. Garra can manipulate it better but crocs can induce more force / strength into it. Garra absolute defence is tough and fast with his mother's will, but people have gotten through it by speed and strength before (e.g. Lee, sasuke and naruto). The fact it is mother's will is relative and doesn't mean much. As for gold dust he only applied it once when it was available to him. He may be able to use magnetic style but has shown nothing (such as telekinetic manipulation) that could harm crocs. There nothing to say he won't use it but there is nothing to say he will and how. As for the sand that can enter bodies there is no concrete way of knowing it could work on an intangible sand man, but at the same time there is nothing to suggest it won't work. But odds are it won't since the application of the technique is via open wounds not breathing it in. Crocs was deadly in close combat because of the massive force he could dish out in small quantities. With a palm of his sand he split a portion desert very deep with speed and presistion. Wide span destructive capability (particularly with sand or even bombs) is pointless against croc with his logia intangiblity and he even states he would survive the city wide bomb he planted confidently remaining in the city. Garra's sand come in ridiculously high quantities to the point that addition force and speed isn't applied and even if it was it would be pointless against croc. Garra can focus on small portions with speed and strength but without haki is pointless again against crocs. If garra can touch him crocs does have fullbacks. Luffy's single punch at the beginning of the series could knock out sea monsters. It took a gatling of punches and hits from luffy to bring croc down in an enclosed area to the point luffy punched with enough force to erupt an underground temple. Garra caught a meteor with assistance from oniki who reduce its weight and decent. This was through quantity and assistance. Crocs can fly and so can garra but between the two of them crocs has more options in terms of speed, shape, position and mobility. It took him only a moment to reach white beard at marineford and took luffy breaking the sound barrier a few times to stop him. Even if garra can seal him, he has no means of killing him. Crocs on the other hand has speed and force in his attacks that could rival those who have gotten by garra's defenses before. Breaking or out maneuvering the defence and armour is possible. And once those are remove garra is vulnerable. Unless he chooses to retreat and run.

Doffy was breaking rules by turning any matter into strings but the jail beast awakens weren't that significant other than higher stamina and regeneration. On crocs his weather manipulation and water absorption could be considered such but we don't have confirmation and the abilities aren't too outlandish either. I would definitely call it awakening if he started turning air and water into sand or spawned a large desert with all its features in seconds.

This fight was honestly unfair: I mean Crocodile is a Logia. And because Garaa can't imput his Chakara into living things, and sense Crocodile's sand that he's made from is living, and is apart of Crocodile, he wouldn't be able to touch him. None of Garaa's defenses would work either, as Crocodile doesn't need to be fast enough to get around, because all he needs to do is walk past them. Not only this, but Croc has many more things going for him, like the drying of moisture and and his hook hand, not to mention the poison beneath it. Also, the guy can destroy buildings just by drying them to the point that they crumple down into sand, so... Yeah.

Crocodile should not have won this fight nor should Gaara have won. It's a stalemate between these two. Crocodile as a Logia fruit user can't be harmed by sand since he's made of sand, produces and controls sand. Gaara controls any type of sand, but can't control sand manipulated by others and is even protected by sand himself. So why is this fight even a topic to begin with? Anyway, Gaara using Taijustu non stop in this fight is lolable at best, sure he probably can do what was shown, but honestly that's not his niche in the Manga. Soi'll put emphasis on how Gaara ''lost'' in this fight. With Gaara's toolkit, Crocodile would never simply sneak up behind and grab him to drain moisture out of his body without being stopped by Gaara's automatic sand shield (which was not once shown in this fight considering its Gaara's main defense). Crocodile does not have the speed to bypass it. Even if he manged to cut through the automatic sand shield, all the noise from him struggling would instantly let Gaara know his location and Gaara will use sand clone to escape. Look at 2:56 in the fight, Crocodile sneaks up behind Gaara notices him... really? Would the same trick work twice? Crocodile is a Warlord and Gaara is the Kazekage, both have enough battle experience to keep each other at bay until they tire out and call it quits. Not every fight is won or lost and they failed to see this notion in this match up.

gaara's biggest weakness was his lack of variety. for a leader of a village that specializes on making weapons his arsenal is very narrow. he is basically sand everything not even possessing a single ninja tool or alternative jutsu. he was doomed from the start fighting crocodile who had way more options to fight back be it his sand powers, hook, poison, or moisture draining ability which he used minus the poison. when you think about it it was no different to crocodiles first fight with luffy who had just a narrow scope on his abilities as crocodile would put it (relying too much on gimmicks).

Of course it would end this way: Crocodile's only weakness is being covered in water or fighting someone covered in water. Do people not know that any sand being controlled by Gaara can't just be stripped away? It has to have Gaara's chakra overridden with another chakra. Gaara's chakra is on tailed beast level, so even if one could manipulate Chakra, forcing Gaara's out would be near impossible. And that's not even counting his Personal sand whichalso has his mother's soul in it. That sand will protect him no matter what. With this battle and the Toph one, everyone just ignores that and thinks that anyone who can control sand can beat Gaara.

Idk I'm torn on this outcome. Disclaimer, I have never read One Piece so I know next to nothing about this character, aside from the fact that he can turn into sand similar to the way Ace can turn into fire, so I'm sure there's a lot about the character that I do not know about that would have attributed to his win. For example, the same way Toph in death battle had a direct control of sand/earth felt very similar to Crocodile's ability to directly control the sand which would give him a clear type advantage. I recognize that Gaara needs to infuse his chakara to the sand before he can control it, giving him less dominance over the element. The main issue I had with this is the way Gaara was animated to fight.. He is simply not a close range fighter. Like, at all. Gaara's entire shtick is to stay a mile out and continually take pot shots to bury, smother, and either crush or seal his opponent away to achieve the win. Seeing Gaara use hand to hand combat for almost half the fight just seemed.. wrong. Maybe Crocodile has an ability that I am not aware of that allows him to instantaneously close that distance which would force Gaara into that situation where he needed to use hand to hand but even if that were to happen Gaara would be trying his damndest to regain that distance. On top of this, Gaara has sealing jutsus which can lock his opponents away indefinitely, maybe he wouldn't kill Crocodile but I felt Gaara had an answer or two that could have potentially given him the win. Don't get me wrong I am not saying it is impossible for Gaara to lose, it's just this video felt like a poor demonstration of his abilities.

What the hand to hand combat was, was a bit of an homage to the fight in One Piece. Spoilers, here, so if you want to watch don't read this. In One Piece, Crocodiles only weakness was being hit with anything that had some form of liquid on it. Luffy wins by destroying him with bloody hands, which is what we see happen in the video. Honestly, that WOULD be the only way that Gaara would win, and that requires hand to hand. As for Crocodile, he is a Logia type user, meaning he is completely untangible, and can transform at will. Again his only weakness being moisture and an ability called Haki which is One Piece exclusive. This may be my opinion but I also think that if they portrayed Gaara true to his character, taking potshots as you said, that'd be a boring thing to watch. But who knows, maybe someone can do it right.

Gleeful Autumn ah, see that is cool and makes sense. Luffy had to sacrifice in order to win and gaara was put in the same boat. Gaara IS an entertaining fighter though, although he is considerably cheap and fights from range. The toph vs. Gaara fight did a better job depicting this, he basically creates sandstorms to obliterate his opponent. In my opinion, it would have been a little more entertaining to watch but the nod to One Piece with the bloody hands is a nice touch. Have you read Naruto though? Gaara has a lot of sealing jutsus that were used to essentially encase characters in the naruto universe that were basically immortal. I'm just curious if that would have been useful against one of these Logia users

1cheapskate You know croc can just dry the mud into rock, right? He can dry up anything, and Toph can't manipulate him because 1) it wouldn't kill him, and 2) She'd have to overpower his willpower using her own, which is debatable. She can't hit Crocodile because she has no Haki and can't fight in hand-to-hand like Gaara can, and Croc is WAY faster than Toph, so Crocodile probably wins.

no gaara lost to toph because of toph's op sensory ability which makes no god damn sense unless you say that earth( and by extension its derivatives) have inherent chi that through her seismic sensory can tell their position in mid flight. Gaara while being a fuck ninja is ALWAYS carrying or is covered in sand meaning for all his fancy footwork people like crocodile and toph dont need to try very hard to find him and in tophs case she can outright pin him down with the sand he wears Gaara is great but against these two he eats shit

If this was for the long run, Gaara would definitely win. But Crocodile isn't the type of villain to give his opponent much of a chance of winning or time to figure things out. He did after beat Luffy twice in a row, even after Luffy found out his weakness. With Gaara's current on hand techniques, he would have a severely limited about of options to take on Crocodile.

Ya Crocodile, durring the war fought Mihawk, Doflamingo, and Akainu. All of which have haki, and two had very strong devil fruits as well. People think he is so weak, but he is honestly one of the strongest Warlords out there. There is also no doubt Croco-boy has haki as well since he was a warlord and had been to the new world before. It is even strongly hinted he has at least something close to future sight haki, based on how he is able to reflexively turn to sand, even if he is unaware of an attack coming. I believe that in an SBS from the manga it was stated he could even do that in his sleep.

@@morganpeshe1732 Yeah, even Oda himself lamented Crocodile's power level in Alabasta and stated that he is in fact much stronger than we first thought, easily enough to contend with Doflamingo (who reacted to and destroy part of an island-busting meteor) and Mihawk (who chopped a giant glacier in half using his sword swing's air pressure without actually even touching the glacier itself).
