Yeap. Chakra in the narutoverse is pretty much synonymous with physical energy at this point. If your chakra becomes completely blocked, or if you run out of chakra completely, you die. (That's how Neji caused internal bleeding, heart-failure etc. in Hinata, your organs need a steady supply of chakra just like they need blood.)

You've missed the most important part of Rock Lee's narrative. Almost everyone does. The entire point, the reason he loses... everyone tries. Putting in effort doesn't make you special, it makes you just like everyone else. Nobody, not even the most naturally gifted, are simply born better. They have advantages that you might not have, but they still have to put in the effort to make those advantages matter. Being reckless with your life isn't some noble trait, it's foolishness. It's like Neji said... "Fate will not smile upon those who seek victory by falling on their own sword, or demanding others fall on theirs". It's heartbreaking, not because Lee's dream was crushed, but because he was too blind to see that it was his own fault that it happened. It was his own ego, his own hubris that destroyed his dreams.

I'll try to explain this as best I can for you, to help you understand better going forward. Chakra is created by combining two energies; your physical and mental energies. Everyone is capable of creating chakra, but many are incapable of emitting chakra so much, if at all in Rock Lee's case. But that doesn't mean he isn't able to use chakra, he just cannot use ninjutsu (the ability to do things you normally couldn't do, such as breath fire or create clones of yourself, or summon creatures) and genjutsu (creating illusions using chakra, attacking your opponents 5 senses by flooding them with your chakra, and giving those senses certain messages to create an illusion of your choosing). However what Rock Lee can do, is use chakra to enhance himself internally, to aid his taijutsu; make him stronger by flooding his muscles with chakra, making him stronger and faster as an example. The inner gates just allows him to use up more chakra at one point in time, the more gates he opens, the more chakra that comes out. In Shippuden you'll see another main character use something very similar to this as their main fighting technique, though they cover their fists in chakra, enhancing the power of their punches. Hint: You've already well and truly met them... though it isn't Naruto or Sasuke for that matter.

No matter how intelligent and skilled as you are (like batman), there's no way one can go up against villains like All for one. It's a fact. Deku specifically asked "Can I be a great hero like you even without powers?". So all-might's answer is valid. You're telling that he can be a hero even without powers. Sure he can, some kind of small rescue hero or something. But without powers, he won't be able to do much. Best example is Mumen Rider vs the sea king. I love Mumen Rider as a character, but there's nothing he can do against real threats.

There's a limit as to how much a quirkless person can do. Also, he's not as rich as Bruce wayne, he's not a tech-genius. How many of his classmates do you think he'll be take on if they ever became a villain. How many people do you think he'll be able to save in a disaster without any power? Look at the first Bakugo vs slime villain example. He showed courage and ran in, great. But what did he accomplish? If all-might weren't there, Deku would be dead. Atleast Bakugo was resisting with his quirk. Deku can be a hero, sure. But there's a limit to how much he could do without a quirk and that's the harsh reality. Like I said earlier, Deku would just be Mumen Rider.

At this point Lee was my favorite character in the show as well. It just sucks how they left him behind in shippuden and you will see what I mean. To continue on, I agree that it is more enjoyable and respectable watching a talentless character build up and get stronger compared to someone who is already born with a lot of hype. I probably would say out of the genins, Neji is the most talented/gifted at this point followed up by Sasuke but is only because Sasuke doesn’t fully understand the sharingan like that and a few other things about it, Sharingan is more op than Byakugan. Gaara however I wouldn’t say he is “talented”, he actually wasn’t born with those powers but I can’t talk about it at this time... He is considered more OP than talented. By the way, if you are currently reading the end of this long comment, I just want to tell you that you just watched the best fight in original Naruto and one of the best fights in anime history, most people I’ve seen have this ranked very high in best anime history fights

Lee is best boy Spoiler alert: Though Gaara works too. His character development was predictable but it was ok. Lee is typical shounen hero but he’s just likeable... and Gaara is precious. So 2 best boys fight here. The difference is Lee got nerfed and was only really best boy now because of that. Gaara gets more time as best boy but in this fight he played the typical villian. And damn I love how this fight ended. This is why Lee vs. Gaara is my favourite fight.
