Gabapentin for Opiate Withdrawal?

I’ve had 2 friends go through opioid withdrawal quite high dosages of about 100mg/day of morphine and 300mg/day of OxyContin and both used just Gabapentin and loperamide. Both said they had minimal withdrawal symptoms saying it was a godsend. No nausea, minimal gastrointestinal issues, minimal restless legs at night around day 4 or so, some insomnia, some tiredness, minimal psychological issues, feeling loopy from the Gabapentin and some sweating. Overall about a 90% reduction in symptoms. They both said they could have gone to work through it if they had to, although it wouldn’t have been pleasant. The loperamide only helps with the gastrointestinal issues but the Gabapentin helped with everything else. All these other drugs are just switching from one opioid to another and making it a much, much longer process to get off of them. This, of course, is a hell of a lot more profitable for drug companies. Doctors really should look into Gabapentin for withdrawal. At least for any patients that are on opioids for legitimate reasons and aren’t just known addicts.

Gabapetin, acetaminophen, anti diarrhea medicine helps. Pepto if your stomach is really bothering you.

When I couldn't get H I'd use loperamide for the withdrawal but you have to take a lot of it. I would take 12 to 14 pills and it would 100% eliminate the withdrawal. I do not suggest doing this at all, it can cause serious constipation if taken in high amounts for more than a day or two.

Suboxone is worse withdrawal than many opioids. The reason why is that once the naloxone wears off after a couple of days you will likely drop into precipitated withdrawal. There is a very very small window of opportunity during detox to properly start administering Suboxone to prevent this from happening. Most Suboxone clinics are not properly trained or experienced enough to know what to do and when to do it. It works but it's equally dangerous

When you take Suboxone properly the naloxone has no effect.

How about benzo withdrawal? An md prescribed gaba for someone I know who has been withdrawing (PAWS). Is this going to harm or extend the PAWS?

Yes it will ! Cuz this its another drug,if you use it for couples days you will need it,and will feel the whitdraws of this too ok.

Ive been addicted to opiates 15 years and on subs for 5. I took gabapentine for 6 months due to an injury and quit cold turkey without one bit of withdrawal....to me gabapentin has little to no affect whatsoever but now that i see this video im going to use it to detox off theses subs that have destroyed my teeth
