I love the idea of the "appreciation game"! I teach 3rd grade at a low income school and many of my students come from homes with serious trauma. Every day we have a morning meeting and I have them go around the circle and give their partner a positive greeting. Usually, I have the whole class say the same thing such as, "I think you are a great friend". This week I am going to have them think of things they appreciate about each other and we are going to share this in our morning meeting. So many of my students come to school stressed out, angry and they don't trust anyone. I see the results of positive affirmations used throughout our school day. The kids begin to soften and they look forward to coming to school because they know they are loved and they are given a safe place to express their love for others. Thank you for the inspiration!

You’re terrific Gabby, and you work hard to put out love and to try to help people. There is clear evidence of that. Don’t take the negativity personally, it’s not about you, it’s about them. It’s their point of view which is only based on their own beliefs and life experiences. Don’t let their thoughts become your thoughts. You have your own beliefs and life experiences. You don’t even know them and they don’t know you, so they are really just dealing with themselves. Focus on the light. ❤️xo Linda

My takeaway was about appreciation. I have an child that has Sotos Syndrome as well as Autism and needless to say our days can be very difficult. Anything that throws us off schedule can throw him into a major temper tantrum. My son is high functioning enough that he can be unsupervised in the mornings while I sleep. Every night I write his schedule and a draw a heart with a message of "I love you", or anyone else in the family. Today, I have decided to write him a paragaph every night telling him the unique things that we love about him so that he'll wake up with messages of positivity surrounding him.

This was my homework today. Precisely the message I needed. Loved so many lessons on this interview, but the one that stood most was "honouring our fear rather than resisting it. Honouring the moments in our life that are most uncomfortable, because they reveal to us the light we're ready to step into." There's so much profound wisdom on these words. And doing so is the ultimate surrrender. I've been in a dark place for months, and recently-a couple of weeks ago to be precise- made the decision to choose new (my version of deciding to feel good). While I still fall often down the rabbit hole with negative thoughts, self judgement and criticism; I've noticed I'm getting back up much faster than before. I started with listening to interviews of Brené Brown on braving greatly and vulnerability. Oprah and her super soul Sunday show. And these days following with Marie's interviews of so many great people including Gabby as well. Just got her latest book Happy Days and it's the divine intervention I am needing to get out of the space I've been. Slowly (not so slowly) moving up the ladder of feelings. Thank you both Marie and Gabby. Love ❤️

The feeling chart is amazing! It's a visual goal for feelings...I love it. For me it's basically a to do list of the next best feeling. Instead of trying to jump from anger to gratitude, and failing and getting frustrated I can move up the scale appropriately. Simple yet powerful. Thanks Gabby & Marie! XOXO

"Appreciation creates more of what you want." I think that we forget to appreciate the life we have. The goods, the greats and the not so goods. I believe that in every day there is something to appreciate. Even if it is that someone smiled at you today, appreciate it and use the power that gives you to move up the 'feeling better/more positive/more love' scale. Use what you've got. Be grateful, even if it's only for that one smile.

Found this interview today - a day when I woke up to my mom needing to go to the hospital. She couldn’t walk and I went right into love. I am an avid Abraham follower and being so aligned, I saw the good in what happened today. I could write a dozen things that went right today! If I hadn’t been aligned, I would immediately look for the negative. And, since hospitals are notoriously slow, I found this talk. I felt so connected with it. My very first Gabrielle introduction. As soon as I leave here, I’ll be off to the bookstore! Being compassionate and nurturing is joyful!

Wow,... I could finally get something out of Gabby's work! Until this moment and this video, I couldn't hear or wasn't ready to hear Gabby; but there is something about the two of you together. I especially love how you brought it down to Earth and talked about how it's not about feeling good 24/7 because that's impossible, but about finding what takes us to a higher emotion when we need it. I especially love how Gabby said that it's when we're at our lowest that we need to work the hardest to find a better feeling thought. I have always found Abraham teachings way to complicated, but you guys brought it down to a much more absorbable level. Thank you! :)

My biggest take away is about appreciation - even in the hardest moments. My daughter (18) suffers from severe mental health issues since 2013. It has been absolutely draining at times, but since shifting to focusing on what I appreciate about her in the moments she's not having a panic attack or crisis or suicidal/self-harming... I see things start to shift. I shared the link to this video for her - not sure she'll listen to it, but as her mom I'll do my best to model the attitude of gratitude and appreciation to hopefully continue to shift things in the right direction so that she can start to feel good again! Thank you!! I'll be getting Gabby's book as soon as I'm done listening to yours Marie :) (Everything IS figureoutable)!

Thank you so much for your candidness Gabby! It’s giving other people permission to also feel rejected and rise above it. When people are harsh to you, know It’s often not about you at all-you might remind them of a time/person or themselves bc you are raw and their rawness doesn’t feel good as they haven’t loved themselves and those areas yet. I I honestly really love your rawness, and Marie’s lately of her old workaholic identity. You both give people permission to fall down, not get it right and still be accepted and loved. I actually used to be triggered myself by you-you remind me physically and the tone of your voice both remind of my one and only sister. We had a falling out where love was not known and I have really worked on the forgiveness piece with her and loving all those parts of myself that I don’t like as well. I only find love in my heart now for my sister and the bitterness is gone. I have so much love for you now that I’ve shifted. Thank you for your voice, for trusting the Universe’s small whisper, and for the difference you are constantly making, even if you don’t always see it physically daily. P.S., my roommate and closet friend that feels like a sister-is currently reading your book ‘The Universe Has Your Back’ and it is changing her on the inside out. Much love to you.❤️❤️

This is my favorite Marie TV episode! I really enjoyed how open Gabby was in this episode about some of her own struggles. I also loved seeing Marie in this space. I'm reading Marie's book right now and it seemed to me that she's very much a doer (as she said, she prizes her work ethic). It was nice to see that Marie is, in fact, balanced. I also told my guy about waking up and doing the appreciation game. We did it this morning and it was wonderful! We've been together for 10 years in October and we get alone really wonderfully. And we tell each other daily that we love each other, but this appreciation game is another level. It felt so good! We're traveling the world together full time, so we had some interesting things to say - "I appreciate that you always translate the street signs we can't read with Google Translate". "I appreciate that you're down to try any foods no matter how bizarre", etc. Thanks for what you put out into the world. It's wonderful.

DETECTING PATTERNS in how speak to ourselves is KEY to transition away from past limiting patterns to authentic power. WE need to become aware of the specific phrases that continue to give us an un-easy gut reaction. This was crucial in my early days of addiction recovery, and helps those I guide, in all circumstances of limiting behavior. TIPS: 1. Make an inventory of these limiting statements. 2. Make it mandatory to combat this with WORDS TO YOURSELF that are accurate and kind. 3. Create and recite an affirmation each morning, specific to you, detailing you deserve happiness. 4. Take an action towards your goal. BEST PRACTICES and WISHES to us ALL!

Each and every new baby is an entirely new experience and another level of being a parent. First baby and one baby is just one cluster of learnings. Each baby is a customized course of self development for the parent. Multiple children is an entirely new challenge and learnings when it comes to helping them create their beautiful relationship with each other. Having a baby is a spiritual experience - physically entering a spiritual being into this world. That’s why so many people have postpartum depression and anxiety. It’s a symptom of spiritual growth.

The key to feeling stop feeling bad is to decide to feel good is a simple decision and a moment to moment practice ( depending on the situation). I am currently practicing the life of an overcomer to manifest a program for people like me living with a medically unmanageable and incurable seizure disorder ( Refractory Epilepsy). There are times I have to practice deciding to feel good even when feeling good means allowing my body to lay in bed healing from seizures without feeling self-pity, shame, blame, or anything other than Love for myself.

I even imagine Gabby saying "well this HAS BEEN your guide, guiding you to a better state of mind" haha. I love it! Thank you Marie & Gabby! Hugs from the heart of Europe

Thank you, thank you for talking about postpartum issues Gabby ... it's been 23 years but remembering that time still brings me to tears! How I pulled myself out of a dark hole during that time is that I took a Parenting Your Infant class at a local parenting institute. When the teacher asked each of us 12 new mom's, "how's it going so far?" We all burst into tears ... we all stayed in touch via playgroups for 5 years ... these young women (most were 15 years younger than me) saved my life! Such good information! Love the 3 steps. I just talked to my husband about this last night. We discussed the beliefs that do not serve us. This system will help us, thank you!

I love the 3-step choose again method. It's simple and this is something I can do right now to step out of the misalignment I am in right now. This is the first step and I know that God guided me to watch this video even though I am not feeling very well so I can get back into alignment and start attracting the things I desire in my life.

Yes, using my expertise to help people never fails to be the push I need to get over it, whatever it may be. Love Gabby. Love Marie!

just did the reframe exersize and felt a bunch of resistance starting it bc i was in a negative spiral. But i did it , and it worked! Especially knowing that my shadow work has healed so many fragmented aspects of myself in the past, so this is no different! Hope prevails :)

I really love your approach, Gabby. Will be subscribing to your KZbin sessions. I love that you are so BALANCED with this stuff. I've always felt alienated by the really out there positive thinking people who take an all or nothing approach which has always left me feeling like a failure. Your way is so much more real and do-able. THANK YOU!!! I feel like I can do this in little steps. "Appreciation dissolves the boundary of fear." How great is that?

The fear leads to love. LOVE this! The sooner you can get to, "where is the love" the better. Even if you can't find it (YET!), trust your Higher Power. And yourself.

As a fan of Ester's was grateful to learn about their Emotional Guidance Scale and am going to download it next!!! You both are rock stars!!!

Recently I’ve been letting myself feel whatever comes up. So if I feel anxious, I give myself 5 minutes to let the feeling be present. It’s been incredibly releasing for me because I really think when we shift too quickly we suppress the feeling rather than let it eradicate itself. Think this can play into the 3 step rule really well.

Marie Forleo and Gabby Bernstein, thank you so much for this highly inspiring interview. For me the biggest take away is to focus on what I love and appreciate in the people I meet today as a new choice for daily practice. This is gonna be my new practice and I expect this daily practice to contribute to creating and expanding an abundance of healthy relationships with other people. Thanks again. I love and appreciate the abundance of inspiration coming from the two of you.

I want to say, when she talks about easing into the next best emotion, in my experience it wasn't even that big a leap sometimes. It was more like, I'm having thoughts about falling down the stairs, instead I'm going to pace the floor. Instead of screaming and freaking out let's try going for a walk and breathing. I want to crawl out of my skin right now, maybe I can name 10 things I'm grateful for. Very very small increments, but it added up to surviving. Pre-natal anxiety is a real thing - a real terrifying thing - and people also don't talk about it. Love you both. xo
