My brain sometimes just wants to read on my kindle instead of physical books which sometimes makes me so sad because I love the feeling of reading physically but sometimes you just gotta roll with it. I’m can only do Christmas books in novella form unless it’s a nutcracker retelling 🤷🏻♀️

I relate to what you were saying about having been a big Christmas person when you were younger and just no longer feeling that way. The Christmas Books help with getting into the spirit, I find. I like to read an Agatha Christie Christmas book in December

I also have had 0 interest in Christmas books. Even when the pumpkin spice cafe was going around, I just don’t care to read seasonal books like that.

Love hard is a Christmas classic in my household lol. Must watch every year

I absolutely loved the nightmare before Kissmas and I don't usually love romance books. What you said made so much sense! That it doesn't feel much like a straight-up romance book. Probably part of why I adored it 😊 I do read a lot of fantasy ✨ Also, if you haven't seen the movie Violent Night you might like it!!

I had dnf’d The Nightmare Before Christmas because of all the politics. I had hoped that you would say it gets better so that I could give it another try but I now know that it totally isn’t for me and it will go in my unhaul pile. It looked so good and I was so disappointed in it.

The Nightmare Before *KISSMAS* not Christmas! That's a completely different story...

I'd recommend The Twelve Days of Murder by Andreina Cordani... dual timelime, set in a snowy isolated mansion, murder mystery dinner game... the drill went live, folks 😅 I had fun reading that one last year.

Happy Holidays Gabby, I'm so glad you are liking The Most Wonderful Crime of the Year, it's on my to order list> I am in the mood for a Christmas book, even a 3 star. My daughter and her fiancé are coming this weekend. Your eating leftovers at your Mom's house is just what us Moms crave!

The Visitor was a 2 star for me too, and I had really wanted to like it!

The Most Wonderful Crime was on my immediate TBR, but now I might reconsider... and yes the writing in You Better Watch Out is indeed very dude/bro 😂 I did read The Christmas Tree Farm by Laurie Gilmore earlier this month and found it pretty mid.

The Nightmare Before Kissmas worked a lot for me because I loved the politics and the royal aspect, but I agree with your point about it suffering by not having a dual pov. I would’ve loved having Hex’s perspective.

I also didn't care for The Visitor. I am excited to read The Most Wonderful Crime of the Year. The first book sounds very Nightmare Before Christmas-esq. Very fun!

When i went to pick up the nightmare before kissmas, it was actually categorized as a fantasy book! I assumed romance or romantasy atleast but just strictly fantasy!

Your vlogs are so great! Thank you! I gave The Most Wonderful Crime of the Year three stars. It started fun but I lost interest but I also didn't like the back and forth between mystery and romance. That's a bummer about You Better Watch Out.

I'm currently reading You Better Watch Out and I agree, it's just not clicking for me. I'm not sure if I'll DNF it eventually but even with it more plot/action heavy, I get that "oh this is def a man who wrote this" vibe. I read The Visitor last Christmas and gave it about 3 stars. I enjoyed it for what it was but I think it was pretty forgettable overall. So sorry you didn't get the experience you wanted for Christmas books, and hope your next reads are better!

Kinda unrelated.. but I'm currently watching 'Shakespeare and Hathaway : Private Investigators' and i think it might be right up your alley!!

I'm so sad you DNF'd You Better Watch Out! I've been wanting to read it. James S Murray is one of the impractical jokers; idk if you watch that show or not

Dicken's Christmas Stories keeps me interested tho tbh none beside ACC can be considered really good. Each is about 70 pages small type and hard to follow closely but the endings are special. Your tree looks great - hope mine turns out half as well!
