Why I Love FANGIRL by Rainbow Rowell ♡ || Book Talk

#Fangirl is one of my all time favorite books. I've now read it three times. Here's a twenty minute long video that nobody asked for of me gushing over this book.

I picked up Fangirl for the first time yesterday and read it in one sitting. It was so good! The level of relatability in this book is insane. From characters, to settings, to emotions, to experiences...its not hard to see ourselves going through these same things. I really appreciate the way that stress and grief were all portrayed and how differently people react to it. Whether its shutting everything out completely, partying into a stupor, throwing yourself into work or just running away and starting over. There's so much you can praise in this book.

Fangirl is one of my favorite books too. I have read it twice and I still love it. Also, I agree that Cath is an extremely relatable character. This video is so emotional, thanks for sharing those little details of your life. I loved the emergency dance parties too!! Now, I want to re-read the book again. Maybe I'll check out the audiobook like you suggested.

I am a 44 year old grandmother. (I have twin granddaughters, so this touched my heart.) I just picked up fangirl at the library last week.... Thanks to your recommendation. I'm the type if I love a book, I'll finish super quickly, if I'm not into it, it takes forever or I dnf it. I read this in less than 2 days. And I just had to leave this comment because I did the same exact thing you did, I skipped the Simon and baz pages. But I loved the rest of it so much. I am 100000% raegan. I read this because my grandmother gave it to me. I know she got it because she thought the protagonist reminded her of me. I felt it was a thoughtful acknowledgment. I really enjoyed this!

Im planning a re-read of fangirl soon as well! First time around I completely related because Im a twin as well and as we got older we grew apart with different interests and outlooks... I heard about Fangirl in the 2016 when i first got into booktube but didn't buy/read it until August of 2018. It was my favorite book of last year. (And i read hp for the first time so) if my tbr wasn't so huge I'd pick it up today. But hopefully this summer. Hearing you talk about it makes me miss these lovely characters. My most re-read novel is A Clockwork Orange. I've read it 3xs, which is a lot because I am not a re-reader. The reason that I read it the third time was because the last chapter was finally added to the US editions. It's a dark & powerful story.

Fangirl was not a bad book, it had a cute story and i absolutely loved it. but i wished if it was a little more interesting or had some plot twists. the book was overall decent and flat-going. i wanted more of levi and cath the ending was boring and unexpected. i expected some plot twists and stuff at the end but it just finished like a normal every day page. though, i enjoyed the book very much

I recently read this book. I enjoyed it. I skipped the fanfic parts too. I felt the ending was a bit rushed. But I was okay with it. Remember the part where she reads Levi her fanfic, and he's like "wait, that's it?" I think Rowell was also refering to her own books feeling incomplete at times.

I didn't care for the fanfic portions of Fangirl either. Cath's story is the best part of Fangirl. She reminded me of me because I used to write HP fanfic (though I was more involved on the HP forums than Cath appeared to be). I met so many online friends on those HP forums who I still communicate with via twitter (some of them I even had the opportunity to meet at leakycon 2011/2013/2014).

After I read "Carry On," I decided to never read a book by this author. I hated "Carry On" with the burning passion of a zillion blue stars. Your passion tempt me, but....Carry On was pure trash. It's a harsh review, but...it was so painful.

rosedaline valetine I’m sorry you feel that way about Carry On, I’m not really a fantasy person but I thought it was ok. I would recommend still giving her other books a chance though because Carry On is the only fantasy she’s ever written and her other books are contemporary novels that are nothing like Carry On. But that’s just a suggestion. 🤷🏻‍♀️
