Hear implies ‘to see’ as we’re not listening to a podcast. I agree with your comment about the reality of his travel. The truth is that it’s a lot of character-building days: cancellations, shit-accommodations, problem-solving, and amazing beaches and people and scenery. Travel isn’t all Elvis, unicorns, and Easter bunnies. Gabriel is down to earth and unfiltered. Reality is like that…it’s not always a shinny brochure…sometimes it’s the frustrating cracks in a large fold-up brochure.

Ioannina is definitely worth a visit. It has an amazing castle/fortress/fortified old town by the lake, and also a relatively small Archaeological museum in which there is, among other things, a wonderful section with exhibits from the ancient Oracle of Dodona, showing oracle tablets with the questions that people used to ask there very long time ago. The oracle itself is near by and a wonderful place. Oldest in ancient Greece and second in prestige and importance only to the famous oracle in Delphi, in Dodona priests used to tell the future by interpreting the rustling of oak leaves in the wind. As for Lefkada it is a really nice place to relax in. If you end up visiting do check out also the vast, always quite empty, and somewhat scattered ruins of the ancient Nicopolis, the City of Victory founded by Octavian after his victory over Mark Antony and Cleopatra at Actium - which is actually right across it and which you can see if you decide to climb/drive a bit up towards what used to be the Actium monument of Augustus and sneak inside with the goats, as I may or may not have done some years ago :)

Great video again! This is exactly what I have experienced on all my adventurous too. I get a bit annoyed if I have unlimited time and very annoyed if I have limited time. So the time constraint makes a huge difference in the way I do the travel. Having time is the greatest parameter when travelling. Taking a bit more chances and stumbling on unexpected adventures. These videos are great information. I have been to almost all countries in Europe (Iceland, San Marino and Netherlands left). When it comes to Greece I have only been to Athens. So I have so much beauty left to explore in Greece. Keep doing what you do, it is easy to feel the passion you have for this! Let's try to keep our passions as long as we can in life.

Hey Gabriel, great story it is one of the reasons I like your channel, you always go with little planing and figure it out on the way or when you get there. I was hoping you would show going under water I thought that would be very interesting. I'm really enjoying this series of Greece. It's pretty rugged but beautiful and I think the most beautiful part is the water. You mentioned that Greece is going to open up on July 1st and that is the same day that Thailand is going to open up. The difference is they are only opening the island of phuket and after 14 days if you are still covid free they will let you go to the rest of Thailand. Looking forward to the next video my friend. Be careful, stay safe.

The city has a great history and a beautiful lake with an island, From there you can also visit smaller towns and villages like the Metsovo and the Zagoroxwria and explore the mountainous Greece.

Dear Gabriel, I really like your Greek videos, keep up the good work and enjoy your travels in our country! What you did wrong and cost you time and money was that you should have taken the bus from Agrinio to Ioannina. From there you could have reached Igoumenitsa faster, easier and cheaper. Ioannina is the regional capital of Epirus and Igoumenitsa is the main port of Epirus so connection is more frequent and easier. Just keep in mind to explore transportation connections from main cities to your destination rather than travelling via smaller towns, especially under this Covid-19 era! Also, Ioannina is really worth visiting and you can explore the surrounding sightseings, it has a really intresting history and plenty of places to visit. Take care and have a great summer time in Greece
@GabrielTravelerVideos3 жыл бұрын
There was a bus from Agrinio to Ioannina at 6:30 in the morning, which I considered taking. But at the bus station they also told me there was a bus from Agrinio direct to Igoumenitsa at 10:30 am, so I decided to take that one. It was the next day when I arrived at the bus station that they said the bus to Igoumenitsa had been cancelled because of the ferry strike. So that was the main problem. If it wasn't for the ferry strike then everything would have worked out smoother and I would have saved $200 on taxis. But I do want to visit Ioannina sometime, sounds like a nice city.
@GPET43 жыл бұрын
@@GabrielTravelerVideos Yes I know, I watched your video and heard the story. What I was suggesting is that instead of taking a taxi to Preveza and continue to Igounenitsa you could take the bus to Ioannina and then catch another bus from Ioannina to Igounenitsa. The cost would probably be around 30-35 €. However I don't know If the timetable of the buses would fit the schedule with the ferry, in any case you could check. Optionally, you could have spend your night in Ioannina and head to Igounenitsa the next day and catch the ferry. Anyway, I wish such things are the only problems you can face in your journeys! Take care and enjoy your future adventures!
@GabrielTravelerVideos3 жыл бұрын
I hear you man. But there was only one bus going to Ioannina, at 6:30 in the morning. I checked all the potential buses going anywhere north with the guys at the bus station in Agrinio. They told me there was a direct bus to Igoumenitsa at 10:30 the next morning. So they gave me bad information since that bus wasn't actually going. By the time I arrived for that bus then the bus to Ioannina was long gone. My only other option was to wait three hours for the next bus to Amfilochia. Rather than sit around the bus station for that long I decided to go with the taxi. There were literally no other options. Even renting a car and driving to Igoumenitsa wasn't possible, because I checked with the one rental car company in town and they wouldn't allow me to drop it off in Igoumenitsa, only in Agrinio.

That's certainly true, it's always cheaper to stay somewhere longer term. But in this case I was screwed over by the ferry strike. If the bus had been going from Igoumenitsa to Agrinio then that would have saved me $200 on taxis, in which case the trip would have been pretty cheap. The ferries, buses, food and accommodation were all really inexpensive.
