That's what my father have always told us from childhood that if such colleges take intelligent students then ofcourse they will get better results. That's not education that's business. because this is university, not high school or secondary school. Student at this age can be old enough to decide independently how they do with their study life. Schools from 1st till 12th grade taught you how to be a good student. And it is not school fault that you are not succeed in studying. Its yourself to blame. If prestigious universities lower the standard requirements to let all kinds of students in. Then where is fairness here? Is the effort of good students thrown away?? And actually there is nothing called intelligent student, to be corrected, there is only hard-working student

@@miatran9808 Getting high marks never tells you the quality of student. Ofcourse u can say they have no other option but to give seats to those students coz there should be a cut off or benchmark. Ok for a second let us accept ur view that this is the university and will obviously take smart students. Then why call them best or world class?? And why boast of having successful alumni. Isn't it obvious that this would happen?? And most univ. have seats for children of management or seats given to high donation giver. if they really want smart students then why give seats for money?

@KingKami That’s partially right. If you were taught by someone like j Robert Oppenheimer at Berkeley you would’ve gotten a much better education or if you were taught by the likes of resnik, Halliday,Srinivasa ramanujan, Ada Lovelace,grace hopper, David hillbert, Willard Gibbs, Charles Babbage, Stephen hawking,Albert Einstein, Erwin shrodödinger,Niels Bohr, and many more. On top of that you will have access to research facilities and programs you wouldn’t have at a worse college. More of related but the actual education is better for instance if you took math 55 at Harvard you’re Knowledge on mathematics would be much deeper than if you just took your average college class.

Princeton undergrad here... speaking on behalf of the Ivy League and other top uni's, our curriculum is actually very hard and we offer very advanced courses with renowned professors that makes it very exclusive. We have a giant network of notable alumni and the research opportunities, from international researching to using the most advanced tech, is simply unmatched. Also the extreme admission process makes it so that you learn in an environment with only geniuses around you. When I was in high school people slept during class and never asked question, but here at Princeton prodigies are everywhere and dominate the classrooms. I'd also like to compare one thing... I planned to enroll in Arizona State University which is a public uni with a massive undergrad population, and they only start teaching Calculus in MAT 267. But at Princeton Calculus starts at MAT 103! Also because of how unfathomably rich the Ivy League schools are, chances are you will NEVER need loans or run into any student debt. I literally get paid just learning. These are just the few things on the surface that distinguish world-class schools from most uni's. Also it's 5:52 am I need to sleep bye

When I was a student in my country I was always complaining about the low level and dreamt about going abroad to study. Finally, I got admission at one university in Europe and even if the level was higher than in my country, there was nothing special and I felt disappointed, so I studied hard and learnt what at that time was my 4th language and got admission into an University in Germany , only to realize that there was nothing miraculous or impressive there, the only difference was the money invested by the university in some laboratories and publicity. In terms of educational, pedagogical quality was not even better than my home university and most of international students were terrible prepared (most of them didn't even speak german well) and all were there just as part of the quote of overseas students that every university needs. After graduation I continued searching for a superior educational system and i landed in Austria, Italy but also didn't see anything special there. After all those empty educational experiences, I ended up in China at one of the "best" universities but then, I finally understood .. the students worked very hard to get into that school, passed very hard exams and had amazing achievements before applying, and that's what makes the university reputation. An university full of well motivated responsible creative students will logically have the best results and produce successful people. They were successful even before becoming students. After all those years of studying everywhere I realized I had been waiting to magically become more intelligent or receiving kind of "secret" knowledge from those universities . It doesn't where do you study At the end it's just you. I have met people,who studied at very small unknown universities , who are more skilled than people who graduated from expensive / private / top universities,but still receive less opportunities because they don't have a fancy diplom from one of the "good" schools.

It's the same thing with some charter and private schools. I'm order to get in you have to be the best. But when the advertise they say "we PRODUCE the best." In reality, they just recruit/enlist the best

In the end, if you are competing for a high rank/ position at your workplace, let’s say you and somebody else have the same bachelors, same qualifications, same everything, but the only difference was the university that you went to. Would the person who went to an average university be hired, or you, considering that you went to an Ivy League?
@TheMrBonzz
@TheMrBonzz 2 жыл бұрын
I thought people already knows this? The hardest part about the Ivy League is not the education there, it's getting to be accepted. Because getting accepted there would elevate your status, your luck, and your outlook lives the knowledge in there matters very little it's the prestige of being in there that makes them successful.

I am happy I got rejected by most of them. I get to keep all the money in my pocket especially given that the education there is not something you can't learn from books and case studies on your own.
