Some horses are born to love kids. When a horse is properly trained to follow instructions, it doesn't matter how big (or small) the horseman is as long as the horse knows who's the boss. She should definitely wear protection. It is a little more safe But it is sadly enough not gonna make someone invincible. If the horse would turn during lounging and kick her she'd be very badly hurt or even killed. :( The helmet isn't gonna protect her if she gets kicked or reared on Body protection could be better but still you're not 100% safe though. That's like someone saying I have a airbag in my car l can never get hurt If you drive with 100 miles a hour into a wall you're not gonna survive :( that airbag ain't gonna protect you :( But l definitely would say give her protection so atleast she's a little more safe.

Long story short: One day when she was riding her horse, the horse got scared of something. She got thrown of her horse and she landed head first. As always she didn't have a helmet on... She ended up in the hospital (in a coma) for a very very long time fighting for her life. @ElleCasey10 жыл бұрын
Amelia Veary Okay, so following your reasoning ... since you've never been in a car accident by age 14, you will always be safe in a car and don't need to wear a seatbelt. Since you've never been kissed by age 14, you will die an old lady never having kissed a man. Since you've never had a paying job by age 14, you will always be unemployed. I think you see where I'm going with this. There's a reason why any barn that wants insurance must insist that all minors wear helmets. It's because actuaries (the experts who study statistics on horseriding accidents - FACTS) can show you that if you don't wear a helmet, you are at significant risk of being badly injured or killed by not wearing a helmet when riding horses. EVERYONE who rides horses eventually falls from a horse. You do not decide when it happens, where it happens, or how you come off or how you land. All you can do is protect yourself for the time that it does happen. And the reason why the law is only for minor kids is because kids have a tendency to believe they are immortal and that nothing can happen to them. They have not yet developed that part of their brain yet that tells them when something is dangerous. Older usually equals wiser, but for the adults who don't wear helmets, the insurance company knows they make that decision with the brain to realize they could die from it. If an adult wants to take a risk, he can. A kid can't make the rational decision to do that, so the insurance companies make it for them (just in case the adults in their lives are too ignorant to make the decision for them). So I'm going to say it again: Lady in this video, please always make sure your adorable girl is wearing a helmet any time she's on a horse, no matter how hot or sweaty she is. A hot and sweaty head is ever so much better than a fractured skull, a concussion, or death.

That is just way too cute, Sianna! You have a new fan! You remind me of me- only at that age, I couldn't get the adults to hand me the reins..which insulted me. So, I would sneak ride the horses. I was a pro before they considered me a beginner. I made makeshift bridles out of baling twine, and the horses would get next to the fence and let me climb on. They seemed to have as much fun as I did. Most of my sneak riding was not in a corral, it was in a wooded acreage with streams, irrigation ditches, fallen trees (my favorite mounting sites) and open pasture. These are the best memories of my life, and also my two horses Geraldine, a jet black TB mare, and Bobbito a very colorful Appy gelding. They were my dream horses. They are gone now, but lived to be very old. Geraldine was 33 and Bobbito was 31. I had them all their life. Their parents were some of the horses I was sneak riding in that pasture!

I noticed some people are saying you don't need to wear a helmet if you trust your horse: I would never ride my main lesson horse without a helmet, even though I'm not allowed to in my English riding lessons. The horse, Flash, is super sweet and unbelievably safe, but one time I almost fell off because he TRIPPED at a canter. He didn't buck, his foot went into a small rut in the outdoor arena. I'm just trying to say that anything can happen even on a horse you trust.

Amelia Veary Lost a friend (and wonderful horse person) because of a freak accident she had nothing to do with. All riders should have helmets on - young and old alike, hot or not. You do a fantastic job as a mom, giving her this opportunity and teaching your little angel how to handle horses. Protect her first and foremost!! You would forever regret if anything happened to your sweet baby.

A helmet DO save lives! Own experience. 'read the description' they say, but it does not matter if its hot or not. If it were too hot, this sweet girl have gone for a ride on anoter day or a bit later.

To all haters: I agree, helmets are good. But this child is learning valuable things, such as how to use her muscles, to trust animals, even if they are bigger than her, and how to forge bonds of friendship. Plus, this is a good stimulator for a child that young. On another note, read the horse's body language. She's saying "I will do as I am asked, and I will make sure my rider stays on my back because I care about her and that's what I'm trained to do. Parenting win!!

Gamer Southern99 Helmets are good, but they are a mixed blessing. I learned to ride, western style, in 1960 at the age of ten. Helmets weren't a big thing back then, obviously, except in high risk riding like jumping, racing, etc. I fell off so many times I stopped counting, and I never once hit my head. I had learned to tuck one shoulder under and roll. A helmet will make you slightly less flexible and changes your center of balance, which may turn a head injury into a spine injury. Riding helmets don't affect your hearing and peripheral vision as badly as a motorcycle helmet but . . . I think a helmet should be a personal decision based on the terrain and the style of riding,

Ignore all the people saying she needs a helmet. That's a personal decision. I say definitely put one on beginners, but she's clearly not. Now, u can fall and get hurt beginner or not, but helmets don't usually save u. they DO however lead u to do things u wouldn't normally do. "Oh, well, I'm wearing a helmet". Guess what? I have 7 Friends of mine in the past, they went off riding together and tried cross country, alone together, no trainer of anything. Guns went off in distance and all horses spooked, flew over a ditch. All horses were fine, one had a bruised hoof tho. Three of those seven friends of mine? KILLED. All of them were wearing helmets. I asked the doctor, said two of the three were head injuries that killed them. I wasn't super close, but still, sad. So I understand wanting to wear a helmet, because IT CAN save u in certain situations. But sometimes not...like there was this u tube video of this girl, she told us about this injury that she had. She exercises horses. She took a racehorse, who was safe, and rode him around. Well a horse several feet away spooked him, and he slipped and fell on the girl. She would have been fine, her doctor said, but the helmet crushed into her head (ewwwww), because the horse put his weight on the part of the helmet in the front that sticks out. Her doctor said she wouldn't have had such a bad concussion if it weren't for her helmet. So to wrap things up, SHUT THE HECK UP PEOPLE! It's a personally decision, and you are (seriously) practically BULLYING people into trying to get them to wear helmets, so just stop! U barn witches...

What a stupid post. Just because you know of certain cases where a helmet didn't help, statistically it is safer and prevents head injuries.

Ok so I know I'm late in replaying on this but I went through I the majority of the comments or hate. I have been riding all my life my mother is A trainer I jump I do dressage and I do western pleasure I know that all states do not have a law for the requirement for a helmet. I know that it may seem taboo for her not to have a helmet on but are you can see the horse is quite calm and she also has other people with her so it is really up to her parents if they let her wear a helmet or not and the thing with body protectors at those things do not help their clunky and they actually make me feel uncomfortable while riding and I feel unstable and I was taught bareback onA horse this size. And I think it is rude for people to comment about her mother making a bad choice of not making her wear a helmet.

+Lauren Bivins People are crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!......Wonder why the law doesn't bring charges of child endangerment?.....If that horse, gets spooked, for any reason, and rares up and comes down on the child, she very well, could be killed....Also, if the horse get's scared and really hyper, he will start bucking wildly and stomping anything around him...That is a natural defensive responce in horses, no matter how calm or trained the horse may be, His involuntary, natural, defensive instincs will come out.....If that happen, the little girl would be, more than likely, stomped to death.....all it would take would be one crushing blow.....tw PS....remember, she is only 3!!! In that case, no child would ever ride any horse or pony without body armor, a helmet with full face masks and steel toed boots. Really? Do you have horses yourself? Do you ride? And if yes, I suppose every time you get on you must wear a body vest, a helmet, and ride in fear of the horse going crazy, rearing up, bucking wildly and getting stomped to death. Thank the Lord I don't ride in such fear. Stay safe on your sofa. And by the way, the little girl is much older now- the video was done in 2011 and she's alive and well.
