Gabor Mate is man ahead of his times with both trauma and the clinical applications of psychedelic assisted therapy. In future his position will be quite mainstream.

After my ex broke up with me 3 weeks ago. We were in a 2 year relationship that she ended abrubtly, blaming me for her affairs and mental illness. It had messed with my mind I had a negetive outlook on life. An old friend of mine took a vacation to a healing retreat. We both did ayuascha for 2 days. I can tell you my outlook on life is completely different. My friend said she feels completely healed from certain past wounds and she hasva completely different outlook on life. I highly reccomended doing this. I now have gotten a new job that pays over 75k a year, and am on a new positive path in life. It's truly life changing.

In my late teens & 20s my friends and I would do shrooms, Isd, and ecstasy occasionally. Good times! All were positive, fun, spiritual experiences. But, it's been decades. I don't know anyone who knows anyone who can get psychedelics. I live in LA & there's a Kush store three blocks from my house, but I can't function on weed. I wish they sold psilocybin gummies. I'm a little depressed & a little anxious on a regular basis. I'm not a big drinker and I hate taking pills. A bite or two of a chocolate bar, or a cup of mushroom tea everyday would be a godsend for me.

Ayahuasca is legal and protected in Peru right now... or you could go to Costa Rica, Portugal, USA and do it where it is also tolerated and not subject to legal prosecution. Alternatively, there is the option of taking part in psychedelic assisted therapy trials if you have depression or PTSD. Failing that Ketamine therapy is legal I believe in UK and in USA amongst other places and given by licensed therapists/clinical psychologists.

I did mushrooms, many years ago, in Jamaica. Twinkly. I recently had exposure to psilycibin mushrooms , & due to a frailer demeanor, I leaned on the smaller side of dosing. Have enough left for 1 more undulating romp. No Heroic Dose . Aggravates me R.L.S. on 1rst OnSet of ingestion. Then Wavey 🍍🍍🍍🍍

Mmmm I disagree with the community element. I think it's important to introduce plant medicine on an individual level. I think silent based ceremonies are the way to go. Any other outside interference whilst experiencing medicine like shrooms and Ayahuasca just appeases the ego. And the whole point of plant medicine is to integrate the ego and heal etc etc. You can't do that while outside energy is an element. Think about traditional Ayahuasca ceremonies, not white folks traditional at a retreat, I'm talking ancient tabitan ceremonies, they don't sit around before hand and talk about what they do for a living and who they are connected with and exchange Instagram handles and etc etc - You loose the power of healing that way because it becomes egotistical. I feel like to actually heal and go deeper the sense of community just comes from having like minded individuals around you. After all were all just energy. It deepens your awareness that way too. I'd love an opportunity to do a proper ceremony but I feel most of what's out there is ego based, money driven and somewhat fake. But I'd fucking love to drop with Gabor mate, just not in a community based setting xo

I have done many plant medicine ceremonies both solo and in groups at different facilities and experienced what you wrote. The ego thing of both facilitators and travellers (including mine) are a thing, before, during and after the ceremony. A retreat that is silent would be ideal or silent during and after the ceremony or with at least a seperate whisper space. It is unfortunate that so many facilitators are not aware enough, spiritual enough, have sufficient knowledge/understanding of trauma, the nervous system and physiology and are not healed (enough) themselves. The more ceremonies I attended, the more my sensory system started to awaken/develop, the less non-sense and noise I could take, the deeper parts of my traumas started bubbling up. After a certain period I wasn't able to do the ceremonies in group settings, it was just too much of an overload to my system. I did a few solo ceremonies by myself, but a guide is recommended, especially when resistance occurs and you have to go through the process by yourself. My last ceremony was almost a year ago, but I noticed my body doing the healing by itself prior. I still have some chocolate truffles left. I did a few microdoses, but these are a little too strong and I had short macrodose experiences. Even had a full blown cry session during a walk in the park one time.

You know psychedelics are used in clinical settings now with seriously qualified scientists and clinicians to good effect right? Imperial College London, St. Vincents Hospital Melbourne, John Hopkins University etc. Let alone the fact that MDMA assisted psychotherapy is now due for FDA approval April or May next year having undergone years of rigorous phase 1-3 testing for PTSD and CPTSD. Should we not encourage scientific research to help alleviate human suffering ?

You’re a little behind on the times. There are psychedelic clinics ran by medical professionals, places like John Hopkins are doing research on psychedelics such as MDMA for PTSD and psilocybin for trauma and end of life care
