I absolutely love how this turned out; definitely not how it began. I use gesso in all my acrylic projects. I start paintings on paper by adding some tooth/texture to the paper to give more dimension when adding colorful layers. I also use it to seal stones before I paint them. I haven’t tried it with watercolor yet… but this tutorial is definitely inspiring!! ❤

I am too quick to give up and I have a box of rejects that I don’t show anyone. From you I learn that although the end may not be as originally imagined it can be worth the perseverance. A great approach for many things in life I think! Thank you lovely Gabrielle. I wish you a week of happy surprises! 💙💫 B x 😘

I love how a simple product like gesso can turn things around ☺️ You're absolutely right that perseverance pays off. Either the painting takes a turn for the better or we learn something - and this is always a win-win in my books ✨ Thank you for wishing me a week of happy surprises! Hi Gabrielle! Happy 14th Barkday Garou, what a cutie you are! 🐶 I'm at the beginning of your video and the suspense is killing me! 😂 You cracked me up through the entire painting, you were hilarious! If I'm honest, I would have given up too! 😂 Putting the gesso on what became the background looks really neat! I'm so disappointed that I must have never posted my comments on your last video! 😡 I guess I'll just tell you here, that I enjoyed your interpretation of the eclipse! I started loving it when you put the little gold swoops in it, so pretty! I loved the initial background with just the paint and salt; salts make the most interesting marks! I hope you're feeling better! Any new test results to help you further with your healing? I love seeing your beautiful sweet face each week, it brightens my day! Have a blessed weekend my friend! Lots of love and hugs coming your way! 😘🤗

Hi Lori ❤️🤗 Garou is thankful for your Barkday wishes 💕 My little cutie had a run-in with a porcupine last Thursday evening. The porcupine made out much better than Garou did thankfully/unfortunately. But, after a trip to the emergency vet hospital, we are happy to report all is well again. I'm not sure how much he's appreciating his new routine of being on leash when we head out early mornings and in the evening, but I'm sure the porcupines are appreciative. ☺️ Hehehe! I'm so happy you giggled with me on this one! 😂 It was a funny experience for me too! Almost like an out of body experience where I was looking at myself creating and wondering what was going on 😂😂😂 I'm happy gesso came to mind and that I was able to turn things around ☺️ No worries about the eclipse painting!! 😉 ❤️ I had a feeling you might enjoy the swoops of gold ☺️ It's just so much fun to look at that little painting shimmer in the light! I am doing ok, thank you! 🤗 I did get some results and a call from my doc a few weeks ago stating that he is referring me to a rheumatologist, but I have not heard from them yet, so I'm focusing on keeping my worry at bay. Painting helps! Keeping busy is also helpful. One day at a time! Thank you for being here with me and thank you for your love and concern. 💕 I hope your week is going well! Sending lots of love your way 🤗❤️

You have a new subscriber in me for this video alone (but now I'm watching all of your stuff! We love the same stuff 😊). I can't tell you how important it is to see that "real" artists don't just put out masterpieces over and over....I mean, if you don't ever struggle then how do you get out of comfort zones? I have been so immersed in the unforgivable medium that is watercolor (Im not an artist but i spend like im about to create a masterpiece lol). I can't explain it but it's all I think about and i work at it every day but I'm terrible. Lol. I've recently realized how much I love mixed media and it still allows watercolor (I would MARRY A WATERCOLOR IF I COULD PICK A FAVORITE LOL). I have started to discover the beauty of neurographic art so I found you and this made me really appreciate your talent. Ty for being real & vulnerable while laughing and showing what's possible. I love this! I really do. There's something brave about it. Thank you. Excited to watch more videos of yours tonight!

The rationalizations and justifications people use to keep doing the same thing are interesting. Almost every artist I've seen on KZbin who starts a video saying they're getting out of their comfort zone has ended up refusing to get out of their comfort zone and then they justify or rationalize why doing what they're comfortable doing was really the right decision. I've only seen 3 artists who actually accepted the fact that being outside their comfort zone didn't feel good and let that be ok. This also happens a lot with people trying "no buy" months or years. Even if they stop just 10% of the way into their specified time period, they justify why that 10% was long enough. No shame because I do it too. I just wonder what mindset do those 3 artists who were actually ok being outside their comfort zone have that so many other people don't.

Sooooo - where's the problem?
@gabrielleannacormierart6 ай бұрын
Interesting commentary... I'm not sure I understand your motive for sharing it, but it's interesting to ponder nonetheless. I suppose the very idea of being outside one's comfort zone eludes to the fact that a person would usually feel uncomfortable in whatever the situation is. So, I wonder: if a person is really ok in a certain situation, are they really outside their comfort zone?

Hi, have you considered using one of those companies that put your art onto canvases, prints, and bagss, and stuff to sell? I don't know how much work would go into that, or how profitable it would be, but worth a check. I love your work ❤

Hi Stacey ❤️ I actually have looked into it in the past and made myself some yoga pants that I still wear and love today. That was back in the day when I was doing fluid art and I haven't looked into it again, but it could be interesting to see what else is possible. I appreciate the suggestion a lot and your kindness never goes unnoticed. Thank you 🤗

Did you use watercolor ground type gesso?
@gabrielleannacormierart6 ай бұрын
Great question! In this case, I actually used pure gesso mixed with a little bit of water from my brush. I was simply trying to cover up some of the background rather than create texture. White watercolor ground might work similarly, but I haven't really tried using it that way so I cannot say for sure. I always recommend experimenting with what you have on hand to see how your products work for you. ☺️ Thank you for making the time to connect! ❤️

Thank you for sharing this with me! ☺️ I've seen at least one other artist use it and she always creates the most beautiful pieces with it. What I've come to realize is that her artwork has an esthetic that is very fitting to her style and this specific color palette. The colors are beautiful in their own right. I'm just happy to experiment with them and keep getting the confirmation that maybe they're just not totally "me" and that's ok too 💕

@gabrielleannacormierart6 ай бұрын
Hi Lynn ❤️☺️ I think the comments don't show up for me in the same order they do for you for some reason, so I'm not sure which comment you mean, though I can wager a guess or two 😉 There are so many kind people here who I feel sincerely have my back. 💕 The rest I do my best to navigate with as much kindness and grace as I can muster while also taking into account that sometimes, that less than gracious comment that came was probably not from a real person or if it did, it certainly didn't come from someone who meant well only because they are probably not doing so well themselves, sadly. Social media is a tricky place to travel, isn't it! Sometimes it makes my head spin! (I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with it honestly...) I feel really frustrated at times with how the people who create these platforms play with people's emotions... I'm just happy I'm doing this in my 50s and not as a child or a teen. I can only imagine how hard this would be for them. 😳😔 Thank you for the heads up and the support! You are a gem 💝🤗
