As a high school fighter standing at 193 cm tall and 77 kg, I always find it nice that I started my combat sports with wrestling in junior high and continue it in highs school. Great video! The videos where you really dig into the details (like this one) are my favorites. And I’ve always wanted to tell you this: even though you lost the Van Roosmalen fight, you showed the heart of a lion during it. The courage it took to stay in there as long as you did against that gorilla was just off the charts. No one could ever question your heart after that war.

The correct answer if you are a tall and lean guy is to simply show up to beginner classes and let your ego flourish. Maybe being taller isn't as insurmountable an advantage between two skilled opponents with a height difference, but amongst beginners it makes you nearly bulletproof.
@hannibalwantsahuggrande34333 жыл бұрын
Reach is definitely an adavantage. I find it funny that some people think the clinch favors the tall man. I guess in some instances it does favour the knees of a tall man but a good clincher can just as easily neutralize a tall mans clinch and dump him easier.

Some great tips there for a tall, long fighter like me. Personally love the front teep and jab. The options for bouncing that lead leg thai-style is so vast.

How did u work on your front teep timing? Im a tall fighter and the vast majority of Time my teep just hits my opponent's guard, I want to use It as distance control and pressure fighter control since the vast majority of people on my gym are muay maats, the use a lot of combinations who ends up on low kicks

@@trujilloroldancarlosarturo4281 first off watch ‘muay Thai library chanchai teep’ and ‘silapathai teep’ to see how to throw teep properly. These two are legends of the golden era. Too many nowadays throw a readable, predictable teep. Then get used to bouncing that leg. bounce, throw, bounce, feint, punch, teep, bounce, etc. All the while you should shift and pivot slightly so as to not be a stationary target.

@dragostoma90332 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if you still need advice but if you do I would recommend you, depending on the sport, to use your footwork to escape any off-balance punches that could ko even a dinosaur and try to establish something like an algorithm. Like when jon jones conditioned DC with body and leg strikes then fired a head kick. And try to fight at your perfect distance because your strikes will have more power. And in case you need something for bjj or wrestling, use takedowns that are based more on technique than strength such as trips or judo throws, be comfortable with the guard and drept half guard and go for submissions such as anaconda, d'arce, triangles, inverted triangles and guillotines I hope it will help you or at least find something useful 😅

It turned into a one sided fight, even though according to resumes it should have been a pretty even match. Thanks! I would love to see more on creating angles as a taller fighter. I find it relatively easy to stay out of range and kick with teeps and round kicks, but the moment I try to get into boxing range I get lit up with counter kicks or people just run out of my boxing range or they cut even closer and enter their shorter boxing range once I don’t have my kicks to keep them at bay.
