I can imagine you measuring the marking out for those windows a hundred times, and getting Mandy to check as well. But I bet there was still a huge sigh of relief once they were bonded in! Insulation experts are everywhere, you’ve insulated a van before, you know what you want to use, it’s just a case of how thick do you want it. I keep using the word YOU as it’s your van, your build to be done how you want it. Waiting for the next episode now!

That's a great job John, and a big step forward👍 And I really like the look of the windows on top of your wrap - good choice. Insulation next - always fun 😂 But at least it is a stage that is not as weather dependent. And I am looking forward to seeing what 'cunning plan' you have come up with to balance the amount of insulation without decreasing internal space too much. Anyway I hope it goes smoothly. ATB 💪

Thanks for showing how to fit new windows. Did you paint the sides of the van black before starting work?
@voyageadventurevans2 жыл бұрын
Fitting a flush glass bonded window is definitely quicker, but if its in a camper or motorhomes, then as you say the insulation qualities of the Caravan style windows are so much better. For me however, its also the fact that caravan style windows usually have built in flyscreen's and black out blinds. Trying to do all of that to a bonded glass window suddenly turns that job into a proper ordeal.😉

Do you know how smug I feel knowing that I knew it, if "Magic Mandy" had originally been involved the windows would have been perfect first time around. What a team you are. As for bonded windows, that's what we have but then you have to sort window covers etc, etc. If we did it again, I think we'd go for what you've just done.

Hi John just a quick question. Going to do the exact same window installation with the same windows. Going to do the vinyl wrap first save cutting the vinyl around window. Does it make a difference if the windows bond to the vinyl no the metal. Many thanks

What size windows were these?
@JackyRowe10 ай бұрын
With the side windows, how did you find having to compensate for the curvature of the van wall against the perfectly straight window edges? Did you find that the L-shaped brackets you used on the sliding door window pulled the van wall to be straight and flush?
@GadgetJohn10 ай бұрын
The windows & door metal have both married well, the seal is perfect and water tight with a very slight visible deformation in the overall look of the door metalwork.

How good does it feel now? Am exactly the same, fitted 4 seitz windows to my transit. Wouldn't hesitate to fit them to another van now. Wouldn't go for bonded windows personally but it's each to their own choice. Loved what you did with the wrapping. The van is already looking badass. Would love the wheels and tyres but don't have the budget at the mo. Will continue to follow your build with interest as I learn something pretty much every video. On insulation I ended up with a combination of plastic bottle fibre, kingspan and dodomat and being away these last couple of chilly nights am really happy with the result. I put 18mm hardwood ply on the floor over 25mm kingspan. It's reassuringly solid! 😊. All the best 👍

Top job John! Well done! I take it you’re not going down the dvla reclassification route? as they request 2 or more windows on one side not including the door glass. Some do, some don’t. I never did and can’t now because my T5 has a poptop and they don’t meet the “criteria” any more 🙄🙄
