I believe the Art Is War tune is quite different sounding but I never used it. I usually avoid universal stuff. I think you can use everything in his video BUT the EQ portion. You would replace that EQ profile with mine, or delete the EQ and add mine in wherever you do EQ. I usually don't mess with all the virtual stuff so I can't say for sure with how his is set up. I’m a audio engineer who just got back to gaming, i put a clip of gameplay in my mixing software and buddy i’ll give you props for not being an engineer, you’re so close friend great job 💪🏻 i dipped -8 db at 48.4hz, its just rumble that overpowers footsteps. Then boost 3.5db at 94.5hz , 165hz and 340hz. 340hz being a wider Q. Dip out 754hz dramatically! You don’t need at, it cleans up the mix. I actually like to low shelf higher frequencies to make footsteps the forefront.

I'm not at all an audio person, but found your channel after seeing some streamers talk about how much better they could hear footsteps by modifying their EQ. I've been using your dolby atmos tune from the last video you did on warzone and look forward to using a personalized one for my headset applied to dolby atmos. I was able to follow your video and understand how to apply it to my xbox/headset and look forward to playing with it. However, I think that the average call of duty player would like a shorter standalone video for their specific console on how to achieve the desired results. I have the Astro mix amp on a flat EQ. And you have to push the button at the top so it is on the star icon. If it is on the headphone icon, the mix amp will try to give you surround sound which makes everything sound bad. Check the Astro manual, I used the headphone icon for a long time and all of the custom EQ's that I tried sounded really bad. Then I use Dolby Atmos because it has 10 bands and the Astros only have 5 bands. Good luck!!

Would love your opinions after testing compressors such as Loudness EQ compared to using the more compressed Audiomixes such as Headphones. Is it possible some aftermarket compressors such as ReaPlugs or Loudness EQ can do a better job at compressing/releasing the audio than the built-in audiomixes? That is the main thing the ArtOfWar tune does, heavily uses compressors and spatial audio tweaks (Hesuvi) with a little bit of universal EQ. Really would be interestd in your analysis on compressors with Warzone audio. The Hesuvi spatial audio stuff isn't as interesting, its just a hack to get rid of some of your own first person audio by turning down the center channel super low so you can hear more of the stuff around you.

Compressors can help with hearing footsteps sooner, but you also lose a sense of depth for how close they are. That can be detrimental at times. Regarding the multi-channel mods to reduce the center. I know Art has done a lot in this space. He and I get along well, but have a different approach on the audio mods. Nothing wrong with that, but I personally don't do stuff like that. For one, consoles can't use it, and I believe in an equal playing field. As much as I think it does provide an advantage, it sounds a little weird for me to play with lol.

If you go to Rtings and compare them both, scroll down to Raw Frequency Response, and you'll see the differences between both. Perhaps that would help in identifying the areas to tweak from the Nova one. Could you possibly give a short comment on virtual surround sound/spatial sound for FPS and story-based games? Noticed you didn't enable spatial sound in GG. afaik a rly nice headset should do "staging" or something, like the sound scene, properly and perhaps make it easier to pick up on directional cues. What can us plebs do? I'm sitting on a GSP500 and been using the H6Pro EQ, as they have a very similar frequency response as to what I've read online (legit or not). Slaps for music. games and WZ. Besides GG spatial sound, I've been trying out the spatial sound on my GSX1000, but haven't yet come to the best setup. Highly appreciate your work!

Youre a legend bro. I just bought Linsoul Kiwi Orchestra lights and I was just trying to use my basic sound eq in my pc settings but I noticed the audio wasnt the greatest. Since this is my first big leap into expensive IEM's, I didnt know the best thing was to fine tune like this. Luckily I had SS Sonar already downloaded for my MnK. Hi great video once again just an update I followed your program and created a EQ for Dolby atmos along with my Astro a40 tr mod kit with mixamp with the command EQ’s all on zero and the xCF all on 1.0 all on xbox series x and wow never heard footsteps like this before. Thanks for this, I can tell you did a lot of hard work to get this done. Warzone is the game I play like 90% of the time and as you already know by default the sound is horrible. The only setting that helped in the past was to turn on "Loudness Equalization", but only some DACs have that option available in the Windows sound settings. Without that setting on the headphones that work great for footsteps everything else is also super loud...like when a Precision Airstrike or Mortar Strike is active its super loud and can't hear anything else. I recently installed Equalizer APO and PEACE to play around with EQ on the new Sennheiser HD 490 Pro's I picked up, so I'll definitely give this a try with that. Not sure if you have that headphone in your database yet, but if not I can always try HD 600/650/6XX and it should be close enough.

Unfortunately spent like an hour last night trying to update all my sonar for my Xbox and none of it syncs. Looks like custom sonar doesn’t work on console? Any suggestions beyond that? I updated my Dolby atmos to the recommended settings but I feel like I’m missing out on nearby sounds. Thanks for all your work on this!

This is by far the best audio setup you can have in almost any game. I hope that in the future He will work on games like apex and fortnite. I just did this on the sonar with my IEMS the KZ zs10 pro and it has the best overall sounds. I can hear footsteps coming from everywhere and they are more directional. WZ3 still has alot of audio bugs that they need to work out, but this tune helps out a ton. I dare say this may even be better then what Art is War is up to. They both have their qualities, but this is tuned for any headsets that you own and that makes this better. It takes out all the unnecessary audio garage of the world around you. Even with and without Flex perk active, but that makes it even better as you have more footstep audio help. Great work, I highly recommend trying this out.

Quick testing shows that for atmos settings, both the Nova Pro wireless and wired are -11, 1, -2, -1, 1, 0, -2, 9, -4, 0 when using the squiglink eq builder. That gets it as close to the curve as I could considering Xbox only allows movement increments of 1.

Thanks for the hard work as always! Just to be clear, my understanding is that running multiple EQs simultaneously (e.g., running a custom EQ preset on my Audeze Maxwell headset whilst also running a custom EQ on the Dolby Atmos app through my Xbox) is never a good idea. However, what qualifies as a custom EQ on the Dolby Atmos app? Obviously the custom 10 band adjustments are EQs, but what about the Atmos modes like Game, Movie, etc.? Could I use a custom EQ on my Maxwell headset and also use Dolby Atmos, and if so, should I set the Atmos app to Game mode (with performance mode on or off), or should I set the Atmos app to a flat, unaltered custom EQ (with surround virtualizer on or off)? Apologies for the novel, but I can’t seem to find definitive answers for this anywhere.

Hey Joe, I followed your instructions directly when this vid came out. Sounded good but not super on my PC38X. Since the rebirth island re-release the sound is awful. I hear footsteps alright but there is no way to pinpoint them. Like in a 3 story building the opponent could be walking in the basement but might as well be on the roof. Hi thank you for the amazing walkthrough. I only have 1 issue might be the game. My mic is not recognized and I have no audio when I boot up. I have to play with switching mic to default then back to my mic I'm using (Maxwell Audeze) I even had to back out several times and then finally connects. Any thoughts on if I'm doing something wrong on my end?
