That’s exactly what people wanted like @gabecollins5585 said. I’ve always said they need to have an app for mobile devices like Turtle Beach and Razer. So much easier and quicker to simply pair your headset via Bluetooth to your phone, make your adjustments and simply save it to the headset

Been using Sonar on PC to both EQ my mic and run different sound channels for about 6 months or so now. It's awesome. Crashes occasionally but other than that I love it. The AI Noise Suppression for the mic EQ is by far the best implementation of noise suppression I've ever used.

I tried this new EQ on the Nova 7 with slight differences and I have to say it sounds pretty cool For the Nova 7 in GG Engine from left to right as follows -10, -3, +6, +1, +2, 0, 0, +3, +4, +1.5 Strangely still sounds like it has nice bass. To summarise how this sounds to me, it sounds similar to your original Nova 7 EQ, but with less bass and a little added clarity for footsteps. Your original Nova 7 EQ sounds really good as well, but with more bass and I think I’ll switch to your EQ when playing racing and story games

For those interested, I do want to point out the audio quality of the gamedac gen2 is a good amount better than that of an Xbox controller’s headphone jack. So you are definitely not just paying for eq. However, I do want to note there is a pretty substantial latency hit when using the dac on Xbox. It’s bearable, and you get used to it, but if you are super competitive just keep that in mind.

^ Make sure you are not using Dolby atmos on Xbox. Gamedac has its own method of processing game sound & double mixing your equalizer settings isn’t good in general.

@@Twist-kj2fb I half agree with you. I dislike the EQ on dolby anyway, so I turned it off. However, Dolby isn't just an EQ. It's also a different way that audio gets processed. For example, in my experience, positional cues are better with dolby on, even with the dolby EQ's off.

Great video! I have some questions if you could help answer please. I am confused on what settings to use when using this headset with the series x console. I don’t have Dolby atmos on my console so should I select the windows sonic option along with using a preset eq on the dac? Or should I pay for the Dolby atmos on console and set the eq on the dac to flat? What settings do you prefer? I don’t game on pc so using sonar on my pc is useless for me. My main game I play is cod black ops 6 so settings for that game would be very helpful. Does using either windows sonic or Dolby atmos cancel out the eq on the dac? Thanks!

Hello! If you want to leverage all of the awesome presets they make, enable Dolby on Xbox, but set Dolby to Game Mode. It won't add any extra EQ, but will still help with spatial audio. From there, you can customize the sound all you want via SteelSeries.

A step in the right direction but it's still just someone's view of what the eq needs to be. Wouldn't replace the Custom setting if I had these. Maybe full Sonar type functionality will be possible one day.

I don't understand whats new there? With my Nova 7 I can set a custom preset since day 1 that will be saved on the headset, so it will be used on console. Works very good, only downside is, that you need to connect to your pc and do the setup before you can use it on ps5, with pro and the dac this is different. But in general it was possible the whole time...

Steelseries released a 10 band graphical EQ with presets for specific games and not the full blown Sonar's "parameteric" 10 band EQ which only works on PC still. They only changed the 6 bands to 10 bands graphical EQ via the Engine and they created extra presets for specific games. However the magic happens with the parameteric EQ native functions.

Tried the PUBG and the FPS Footsteps settings. They weren't as good as the ones @GadgetryTech gave in a couple of older videos that he dialed in himself. I have the Nova 7X but no DAC. I was still able to try them in the GG Engine app through pc.

Very good review believe it or not I had these headsets and I returned them back and got the new turtle beach headset when I saw what they did with the new update. I went back and purchased it today I play rainbow six siege one of the things I like about it they have FPS for footsteps.

I actually love this headset but my problem was with the microphone on Xbox. everybody would trash my microphone constantly so I got rid of them.( Got the stealth pro which saved my settings) does this allow any microphone presets to transfer to dac to use on xbox?

You know when i had my arctis 7p+ i messed with sonar settings for chat cuz my ps5 buddies were a little loud and it worked surprisingly this was when sonar was in beta why is it now that i cant get it to work anymore it is possible cuz ive gotten it to work bit it seems like they are locking this feature behind a super expensive headset

it is awesome that they did that..until ii realized it is only for a select percentage of users.... only giving it to the nova pros or those with a gamedac makes me feel like they helped those that spent more money instead of just doing it for every headset in GG. I mean it has been years that console has been asking for an app or some upgrade to help us optimize our headsets better than the crap presets they give but we never here any feedback. I enjoy the hell out of the headsets but the lack of attention and updates that console players get it sad and disappointing, especially when we know they have the ability to fix it but chose not to. but great video for those able to take advantage of this update

@GadgetryTech So Joe if it’s all uploaded onto GG Engine with the latest update, wouldn’t these EQ profiles show on Nova 7 via GG Engine? Because all they’ve done really is, give us the closest matching EQ with GG Engine tuning, so technically all these new profiles should be on there regardless of whichever SteelSeries headset you use that’s compatible with GG Engine If it is compatible with the Nova 7, it should sound good, because Nova 7 default sound is quite close to what the Nova Pro Wireless sound, but with more accurate bass I’ll update the GG Engine and see what it shows on there, but hopefully it will show all that for the Nova 7, if not I took a screenshot of the COD MW2 profile, so I can adjust it myself and see how it sounds and I can fine tune it myself if any particular frequency sounds weird

@@flexmcgee8429 I’ve updated the GG Engine, but it still doesn’t show on the EQ profiles for Nova 7. However, I’ve done the same EQ shown in this video and it’s actually better for footsteps in COD. I wasn’t aware until recently that the footsteps in COD is in the 110Hz-140Hz region, so although my previous EQ was still really good for footsteps, now it’s excellent Sorry I don’t play PUBG, but if PUBG is on Sonar, you can go on Sonar and have a look at their PUBG profile, see which frequencies are adjusted and you’ll get a good idea on how to adjust the EQ on GG Engine

You might be better off getting a soundblaster g6 instead of a gamedac lol. Gamedac isn’t powerful enough. I guess if you don’t have a pc to tweak the sbx g6 you might gravitate towards the gamedac, but at that point I’d just get a qudelix.
