I just bought the wired version and I have zero complaints. The sound is fantastic. I used the custom EQ to adjust the bass like I want it, and I hear every instrument being played. The drums sound great, the bass pops, the highs are crisp. I think they are a great value for the price. As far as the parts made of plastic, I don't mind as it keeps the headset light. I play on PC and I do not see these parts being a problem being made of plastic as you are only using them to set on your head, not dig a ditch with them. Handle them respectfully and don't throw them off your head because you are upset and they should last. I have an ex-large skull when it comes to helmets and hats, they fit very comfortable on my head with no squeezing, or ears touching the inside of the cup. When playing different games, I was amazed at how explosions sound. These headphones made a huge difference in sound effects while keeping the voices and music sounding great. It really added a wonderful difference to my gaming experience I didn't have before. I usually spend around $150.00 for my headphones. The extra I paid for these was well worth it. I love they way music sounds when I am listening my favorite songs. I am a guitar player, so I am picky when it comes to EQ balance. I want to hear every instrument. I am very happy with these head phones and recommend them.

The reason the dac is angled like that in the wired version is because more than likely it's going to be on your desk next to you, whereas with the wireless it could be across the room from you. You could have it next to your consoles in an entertainment center while you're gaming on the couch so a straight on viewing angle makes more sense. Probably also why there's no push to mute on the wireless dac. For me, this boils down more to use case than sound quality and features. You know if you really need a wireless headset or not. Like if you game mostly on PC, I don't think you really need a wireless headset, but it would be great in a living room console gaming environment.

I also don't care too much about it being wireless as I prefer better audio and mic quality overall. ANC and transparency mode aren't deal breakers as well since my apartment is fairly quiet. Can you compare the audio quality for wired version vs the wireless version when wired? I’m curious since the wireless version claims to have the same Headphone Frequency Response of 10-40,000 Hz when wired. @MrLopez12852 жыл бұрын
I got both to test out. The wireless version gives you the same audio quality as the wired ones when connected to the Gen 2 DAC via 3.5mm (not the transmitter). The transmitter puts out 24 bit 2 channel 48000Hz compared to the 2 channel 24 bit 96000Hz Gen 2 DAC in windows. However, when you activate sonar on either it puts out 8 channel 16 bit 48000Hz. I am no audiophile by a long shot but wired with the Gen 2 DAC sounds better than the transmitter. But the features with the wireless model are pretty neat too. BTW, you lose all wireless connectivity when you have a 3.5mm cable plugged into the wireless model. TLDR: Get the wired version for better audio quality with the included Gen 2 DAC or get the wireless version for the nice wireless features with swappable batteries. Both are great buys. Just depends on the user. Hope that helps!
@Ryzza52 жыл бұрын
@@MrLopez1285 Thanks for sharing this. Shame the transmitter didn't include the same DAC given the extra price already, but I can see why they didn't. I already have a nice DAC in my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 Gen 3 interface, which I current have wired to Sony WH1000XM3 headphones. This is for improved quality and latency for music production in Ableton Live, but I wouldn't mind going back to wireless headphones for casual KZbin listening, gaming, or rarely on the PS5 (although that's in another room so would have to move the transmitter). I'm not too worried about the mic (I have an Elgato Wave) or the Sonar software features for now. So I'm thinking I could keep using the multiple virtual audio devices in my Elgato Wave software which outputs via USB to my Focusrite interface, and from there connect a cable from the Focusrite headphone output to the Nova Wireless transmitter Line In input for low latency gaming. If I'm doing any serious music work I can connect directly from the Focusrite headphone output to the headphones just like I'm currently doing with the Sony headphones. I'd likely still have to connect the transmitter via USB for power, but hope I can bypass that direct connection. Otherwise I can add a StreamDeck icon to switch between the Focusrite USB and Nova Pro Wireless USB output devices as needed. (I also have studio monitors connected to the Focusrite). Thank you for listening to my TED talk. I typed this out mostly for my own benefit to make sure I wasn't forgetting something.

Is this an issue with this headset too? 3: Several people state that the earpads in the Nova Pro wireless aren't deep enough and that the ANC point in the earpads puts pressure on the ears on top of the fact that the headset is supposedly less comfortable than previous Steelseries headsets ánd the earpads are a bit smaller than other headsets too. What's people's opinion on this? 4: Is couch-co-op on the same console possible when two people have this same headset and use the gamedac wireless or does the base PS5 not have enough ports to be able to use 2 Arctis Nova Pro Xbox wireless headsets at the same time? The standard PS5 has three USB-A ports and one USB-C port. Is that enough for having 2 people play couch co-op on the same console at the same time?

I'm so fed up with wires being in my way (more than 3 m from my ps4 and tv!) and I wanted good sound so obvious choice for me. about ANC: i jsut realized how good it is when I wnet outside and the trains were so much "muted" and the busy road was almost gone away! in your room it gives that "tranquillity" by muting the outside traffic noises and the zooming of ventilation and stuff, you still hear high end ticks like typing or people's voices or noises while browsing papers. but traffic and other background noises were (almost)gone which made me feel al lot more zen..

Do EQ-settings and/or Sonar settings carry over to the headset when using the 3.5mm cable in a controller without using the dac? 2: Since you have a Playstation yourself, are there enough ports on the PS4/PS5 in order to connect two Steelseries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless headsets with the dac to 1 console for couch-co-op? Are there enough ports on the PS4/PS5 to make that happen in a living room setup with a table in between the couch and PS4/PS5 on a gaming tv?

Thank you very much for your review. It helped me to make a decision and buy the Nova Pro Wireless. I would like to add my experience with the Nova Pro Wireless. Well, it is a gaming device, but I wanted a headphone which also is good for listening to music. I think, when music sounds good, a game also sounds good. I bought mine Nova Pro Wireless about 2 hours ago and I am currently listening to Ted Nugent`s Stranglehold and wow: That rocks. Before I heard School Days from Stanley Clarke and the baseline of that song is presented just sharp, present and so powerful. WOW. I switched from the Artics 9 wireless, which I had for 4 days this week, coming from a 30 Dollars headphone, which I used for years, now I spent 375 Euros in Germany, but it needed to be. The Arctis 9 Wireless was not so bad but I wanted more punch, more power, more clarity, just a better headphone. And I felt in love with wireless. And I knew that I had to accept some flaws compared to a wired headphone. What I strongly recommend besides all those great rewies - this included - if possible test not only whether the headphone fits to your head, test the sound, listen to your favourite music in the shop if possible. Wait some days, do not buy without testing and listening for yourself. I did not follow my advice, I wanted a new headphone and I wanted it now. :) If I had given me more time and would have looked for opportunities to listen to headphones I am interested in I think that I would have bought another headphone, and mybe I would have spent more money. Neverthelesse the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless delivers a really sharp and powerfull sound, IF the source has the appropriate quality. !!!!!!!!! To my taste it lacks a little of capabilities in the mid and higher range. On the other hand, I still know HOW Stanley Clarke and Ted Nugent sound when delivered through a three channel bass reflex box and I doubt that even a Audeze Penrose can cope with that. Last but not least technically the headphone and the wireless base station work well together and are easily adjustable and controlable. Compared to the Arctis 9 wireless, which is 200 Euros cheaper, I like the Nova Pro Wireless better: It sounds better, has more power, the design is better, functionality is good and control buttons are placed in an ergonomical way. I'm gonna be getting the wireless version. I have the arctis pro wired right now and the sound quality is awesome which is why I got them, but the wire is too much of a hassle for me now. Keeps getting caught on the arm of my chair and getting pulled off of my desk and over time it has broken because of this. The sound guality on wired isnt crazy better or very noticeable for most people so for me the wireless version is the way to go.

Thank you, your informative and quick to the punch video is what made me decide to go with the wired versions. Not having the features the wireless has does kinda suck but ive never really cared for transparency mode or any of that stuff so the tradeoff for slightly better audio is fine with me!

Yea ikr. People nowadays pay too much for useless gimmicks man. For example the swappable batteries are so unnecessary. They have batteries up to more than 20 hours with a charge time of like 15 minutes. Go take a shit or take a shower and leave the headphones charging and theyre full. No need to pay extra for swappable batteries. Transparency mode? Man just put the headphones off for a sec, you look stupid talking with headphones on to someone who's in the same room as you lol

I really want to thank you for all your videos, I've been deep diving for a new headset for over 2 hours. I even went as far as buying the wireless nova pros for $349.99 (Xbox version because I wanted compatibility across the board.) I came across this video and and cancelled my order. (If my cancel failed I was going to keep them.) It was fated, as my cancel went through right away and ordered the wired ones. I liked what you said about the noise cancelling nub and about what features you'd would I actually use and that was the nail in the coffin. I also opted for PC version which saved me an additional 13% on amazon. so I paid 217.99 for PC/PS wired version instead of $249.99 Thanks again!

As someone who already has an option for higher tier sound (Sound blaster GC7 + PC38X) the wireless version is an easy win for me. That higher quality sound is great for sure but there are plenty of games I play that I like to lean back in my chair on while I mindlessly grind and THAT is where a wireless option beats that cable out. So I recently bought the Nova 7s and had buyers remorse almost instantly. Planning to return and buy some pro's instead but couldn't make my mind up on which... Think I'll get the wired though. As much as I love wireless and Bluetooth, the wired pros just look like a better headset for the money...
@VRBH13 ай бұрын
I recognize that buyers-remorse. I also owned the Arctis Nova 7's, specifically the 7X version due to it's multi-platform use and mine were mostly shit too. Imo, the headset was extremely comfortable ánd it had simultanuous bluetooth when using the dongle but the dongle itself had issues. My brother and I both had a 7X and using both wireless at the same time on a PS5 caused our voices to regularly cut out during part of a sentence, the dongle would disconnect in the middle of recording a gameplay video. One could say something like: ''I'm going to school'' and the sentence would come out as: ''I'm....to school.'' Sometimes words wouldn't get cut out but sentences would sound robotic. Besides those problems, our voices would be extremely soft when using the dongle/bluetooth as opposed to using the 3.5mm cable instead. Was glad to send that headset back.

I'm bound by wireless as a console user who sits about 8 ft. from my entertainment center, and the Bluetooth is a feature I'm spoiled by as I use it to sync up with other devices so I can use Discord. That typically paints me into a wireless corner since I'm soley a console player, with those consoles in the entertainment center. That's my preferred set up but it comes with that minor consequence since I also don't want wires all over the place for the dog or cat, or me, to trip over. So that fact that the Nova Wireless has those features, just makes it a simple answer for me, but I guess I have a two week return window to decide if it's the ONE. Both it and the Penrose have their pros and cons, and the disclaimer for the Penrose is that to get that headset cozy, you need to toss money at Wicked Cushions and Amazon to upgrade it's comfort in the cups and headband. That puts it around the cost of the Nova, so there's some balance to find after that. If the features work better than the Penrose, and I can find that sweet spot sound, that is close to the Penrose, then I'll say this is my new main but if not, my Penrose isn't a bad headset to fall back on!

I sure love the arctis pro with dac and wireless version and already ordered the nova pro wireless for xbox (still waiting for it to arrive) to just have a single headset for everything instead of changing headsets for every system I use and also to avoid downtime having to charge them with the short cables I have. What interests me would be a comparison between the arctis pro wired with dac and the nova pro wired, to see if there's any substantial upgrade in terms of sound and features, or just keep the arctis pro wired and instead going for a dedicated dac and headphones in the future for wired connections. I mostly play on consoles and move around the house, so wireless with a single device for everything sure comes in handy but definitely using headphones and audio interface on pc is on another level and must say I'm pretty happy with what I have but might consider upgrading in the future and this sure looks interesting. Gonna watch all your comparison vids as usual anyways lol.

Did you have any issues with the inner ear tab poking your ears with the wireless? I just emailed wicked cushions about making a slightly thicker gel cushion for the nova wireless so that we don't have heat issues from the fake leather pads, but also to minimize issues SOME people are having with the center tab poking their ears. My guess is the headset is a little too tight on their head so it's pressing that plastic into their ears.
