Nice job GV, just ordered one of these for my bean addiction. Adorable lab pup, just makes me want to squeeze that little face.

Thanks for the video mate, i really enjoyed your show. Anyway for the grinded coffee - clean issue , You could try to use an empty tea bag to place grinded coffee there and creating your own coffe pads. Give it a try. Happy new year.

Nanopresso vs Handpresso, What do ya think?

Brilliant video, mate! I have been seriously considering this product and you've helped me make my decision. In my opinion, yours is the only truly informative video on this product. You covered it all and answered any question I might have had - right down to the weight and usability. Thanks, mate, much appreciation!

Great video, and good job on the extraction, yeah second one was a little fast but you still got some crema, and you liked how it tastes and that's what matters. Another thing to consider about the handpresso is the pressure profile; it drops, and it drops quite fast, which makes it similar to a spring loaded espresso machine. This makes extraction tricky, cause if you go too fine, the machine underextracts, and you would get a watery drink. So if you can't go too fine and you have a small basket, what do you do if you want a stronger espresso? or if you wan to slow down extraction time?. You try to fit more coffee in the basket, by tamping with the lower end of the handpresso midway, and then fill again. So you fill the basket, about 3/4, tamp so you have more space to fill more, fill it, and do a final tamp. I personally do about 4 tamps total and load at least 10gr on the basket, cause I like my espresso dense and strong. I think you found the right setting on your grinder for that bean. With the setting you have your grinder on, try and fir 9.5~10gr of coffee, and you'll get perfect extraction. Handpresso also sells "intense portafilter" which slows down extraction. I was personally impressed by the extraction from the E.S.E. pod, it look pretty good for pre-ground coffee!. And yeah I agree with you, for a hike or camping trip, that just makes it so much easier. I personally don't take my grinder with me when I go on backcountry skiing trips, cause my skiis and AT bindings are freaking heavy. I bought a container that comes with 3 baskets, that I can pre-fill at home. Anyway, great vid, and welcome to the espresso world. Have fun with the handpresso, you can experiment and try lungos or even ristretto and see what you like best. If you want more tips about the handpresso, check out this post at home-barista: www.home-barista.com/espresso-machines/handpresso-portable-espresso-machine-t45583.html

which is better handpresso or nanopresso?

Thank you for this comparison! Now that you have had the Handpresso a few more years since you made the video, do you still recommend it as the best for traveling? Thank you!
@GadgetViper5 жыл бұрын
For espresso when travelling, I use the Nanopresso with the double shot Barista kit ring. I have a video on it. The handpresso is great if you're only looking for a single shot, but I find it's not enough for me these days.
@madjob84 жыл бұрын
even in the instructions it recommends preheating the water chamber. and for pressure, pumping into the red is needed to get full pressure extraction. you will have to periodically reseal all the gaskets with keg lube but the quality of the extraction precludes the bother. and who doesnt like fiddling with their espresso bits.

Pondguru Outdoors thanks mate! yes it's a cool product if you're a coffee lover like me. I'd normally use my aeropress when I'm in the woods, which makes a top quality coffee, but the handpresso is even better. Thanks for watching

which is better: handpresso or staresso?
@GadgetViper7 жыл бұрын
Tough question. I've been using the Staresso daily since I got it and I really do like it. Both have their pros and cons. I plan on doing a Handpresso vs Staresso video after I've used the Handpresso long enough to fully judge them both.
@eda78757 жыл бұрын
Yeah I am curious too. The Staresso seems like a pretty sweet device. I doubt you can get more than 8bar of pressure with it though, which is the reason I've been skeptical about it.
@GadgetViper7 жыл бұрын
I'm racking my brain to think up a way I can test the pressure, maybe I can rig up a gauge over the pump and test it. I've looked closely at the piston and the way it functions and I do think it is possible to generate the required pressure in its design. It reminds me a little of one of those fire pistons and I know they generate a huge amount of pressure. It draws the water into a chamber and then expels it at considerable force.
@smoog7 жыл бұрын
eda it claims 15-20 but like you I'm skeptical. Around 10 seems more likely. I looked on Amazon and there's quite a few complaints about the staresso build quality. Has anyone tried the minipresso? there's so many types around now! With the handpresso, where can you get the pods?
@eda78757 жыл бұрын
smoog the minipresso is not good. and it barely hits 8 bars sometimes. if the staresso is 10 bar on average, that's good enough. I did notice you can foam mill with the staresso, foam which is NOT the same as microfoam. it also uses the same mechanism, ro introduce air into the milk. which means, it is probably introducing air into the coffee and creating foam, fake crema, which is not good for espresso.

You won't need the scale if you pre-measure the coffee ground and place them in separate small container or plastic baggies

Wich win? Handpresso vs Nanopresso?
@GadgetViper4 жыл бұрын
If you're happy with a single shot, both are good, but if you're like me and prefer a double shot, then the Nanopresso (with the double shot ring) is 100% the best option.

I don't have any instructions my husband threw them out- , so I watched this for the ",how to" but I can't work out how much water to add, and how to avoid overflowing the ground coffee basket, with barely 1 tablespoon of water.. it kind of oozed over the basket, overflowing the ground coffee and making a big mess, with little coffee... I am not clear from watching this video, how to use this expensive experiment.. and I burnt my fingers on the boiling water too... aaaarrrggh!!!
