I like Lex. He has a certain kind of wisdom that works in peacetime. It does not work in times of war. One of the many problems with our current age is that different types of people don’t recognize when it’s their time to shine and their time to sit down and listen. That kind of humility isn’t fashionable. Social media gurus must comment sagely on everything, even when it lies far from their area of expertise, knowledge, or even natural inclination. Now is a time for hard, mature, realistic men. Yes, I said men. I’m a woman and I would feel a lot better hearing from these types of men right now.

Dear prof. Saad, thank you, thank you, thank you. You are so spot on and your sarcasm is priceless. I used to be a huge follower of Lex way back when he was focused on science and technology. His guests were luminaries in different fields from physics to quantum computing. How did it go so wrong? I tweeted, reached out via IG and even LinkedIn to ask Lex to stand up and act like the person he really is, a Russian Jewish man. What a pity! What a waste! He could be so influential in raising the awareness about the true situation in Israel and the growing antisemitism in the diaspora given his huge following. His interview with Netanyahu was an early tip off. Then, after 10/7 came his interview with Elon Musk who was preaching to the Israelis to just turn the other cheek and with John Meirsheimer (too infuriating to even discuss). So I am so glad that you share my sentiment about Lex (I'm dismissing Greta outright). I only wish that you were at Concordia when I was studying there, almost 30 years ago. Be well.

I have to admit I appreciate you pointing out the faults in lex. I think he is incredibly naive. I enjoy his podcast. This is mainly due to how amazing his guests are. So all credit to him. He is a 40 year old gifted student that never left school. As Schopenhauer would say, lex spent his entire life reading about events without living them.
@allyourbase888 Жыл бұрын
I’m not so sure about that. He regularly goes straight into difficult areas to assess the situation first hand (Ukraine, Palestinian Territory-West Bank). He also lived in Soviet Russia. I don't really trust anyone's view on this if they have some kind of metaphorical "dog in the fight." There are multiples layers of tribalism involved in this conflict. The religious Judaism/Christianity v. Islam divide is just the façade which, at the end of the day, is really just a false dichotomy. Underneath that is a political dichotomy where left/right centrists are aligned against left/right radicals because of multitude of different factors...namely anti-colonialism, anti-Americanism, anti-Semitism, anti-Europeanism, and purported anti-fascism. This creates some strange bedfellows to say the least. You'll see secular libertarians motivated purely by politics aligning themselves with religious authoritarians. Likewise, you'll see a communist motivated purely by politics siding with religious authoritarians on the other side of the conflict. Then there is the ethnic component of it all, which is sort of hiding in plain view behind the other two layers of conflict. It's just a complete mess, and I fear it can't possibly end well. It's just too complicated of a conflict to resolve peaceably.

Been studying some of the history of Islam - it's sad how this once great civilisation was held back from englightenment by fundamentalist movements that gained the upper hand such as the Ash'ari in 12C and Wahabism which was used by the House of Saud to declare other tribes infidels in order to conquer them. Fortunately, the vast majority of muslims don't subscribe to the texts literally despite the best efforts of Wahabbis and Diobandi's to export it.

Dear Prof Gad, I'm impressed by your profound knowledge and remarkable ingenuity, which surpasses that of ordinary individuals like Lex. Your perception of Lex, as if he is speaking from a higher plane of existence and looking down on you, doesn't stem from Lex's actions but rather from your current state of being, which you consider to be of a lesser nature.

To be fair, Lex has been to the warzones. He's talked to Palestinian street vendors and locals and uploaded a video. He doesn't just sit in his house. However I find he's hiding something or being a hypocrite because he'd rather talk to Putin and Hitler than sit down with you. In light recent events few have stuck to their principles... Murray, Kelley, Rubin, have all backtracked on freedom of speech. Thank you for sticking to your principles

If he’s been to war zones then how did he come to the conclusion that loving your neighbors who want to kill you and your family/community is the answer? Sometimes you have to fight fire with fire…that means dropping some bombs.
@marshal6013 Жыл бұрын
@letzrock1675 well he has been to warzones, not if. You can watch the videos on his channel. He's blinded by this idea that you can just love everyone and compassion away all the violence. He'd be right if he weren't talking about 4th century barbarians

My go to person is Kamala Harris. When you think about it, time just moves along in a significant fashion. The significance of the passage of time is not appreciated like it should be. And I may miss the significance of important things from time to time. But not the significance of the passage of time itself. Thanks to Kamala, I’ve got a handle on that one.

Gaad comes across as a blowhard with an entirely too smug attitude. Smartest guy in the room and everybody’s his “good friend”. Unfortunately, I don’t have to listen to know that you too, do not have the answer Gaad. No one does, cause there’s not a good one. One side is going to have to give up more than they would ever be willing to and that’s where the conversation stops. Always.

Intellectual fire will burn out fast without substance to fuel it. This is why Dr Saad is so damn hot today. It comes from logic, from facts, from heart - which is what I'm call self belief and desire to serve the principals of truth. I've been subscribed to Lex for a long time but I don't remember when I last watched anything of his, other than the odd clip. Maybe he could have achieved something great in his chosen field, but he went into podcasting and conflated talking with a whole bunch of people with important work. Maybe he'll prove me wrong but it seems his greatest contribution thus far is a lot of hot air.

i have known thousands of muslims in my lifetime and a handful of jews. the love and respect I recieved from jews as a muslim has been a hundred times more than I got from muslims, including my family and relatives. I was fortunate enough as a young person to experience this and know who's good and who's not. let's not bs each other. on the surface many people are good, want to be good. but these individual have deep seeded issues that causes them to be less human. I speak from decades of personal experience. some of these sick minds, when you love and respect them without ulterior motive, laugh at you. at how naive ans stupid you are for not realizing that they'll stab you in the back when you least expect it. so don't be stupid like I have been. you wanna know hate, go live among them for a few years. don't just visit a few days and say how friendly and hospitalbe they are
