So it doesnt export a png high map, just this gaea file format?

Thanks. Please extend this tutorial with how will you bring back the flowing water in the Gaea river when you import in unreal?

Hey! I experiment with rivers, so conclusion is, for games still need to use splines, for cinematics, will have tutorial soon.

Where I've struggled is getting the texture/color to import correctly. When I import the texture create material it just makes a bunch of tiny squares repeatedly. I haven't figured out a way to do this correctly.

Yup just as usual.. something didnt go right for me. It wont show up in my plugins. Could've been the file path i chose but the one they said to copy n paste it wouldnt read in the set up 😢

Yes it's definitely a file path, by default I believe it installs it somewhere in documents, so you can grab that and insert in your project folder or better copy to engine plugins folder. Since a lot of people have issues with it will make a short soon.

Yes! I’m working on more extended tutorial. There are some new good features that work great with PCG.

There is .exe file if I remember correctly, just when installing find where your UE is installed, cant remember if needed to locate plugins folder. Gaea should have documentation.

Like multi biome environment? Yes you can do it in UE and also with a help of Gaea. I have tutorial coming up in few weeks how to do it in Gaea.

isnt this just the exact same way as you would normally use these maps? except maybe setting scale and height. you still have to build everything and have to switch between programs.

@@TheEnergizedcinema figuring out correct scales was tricky for people that use Gaea for first time, so it helps. Yea, Gaea can’t be directly integrated in UE, for that can use UE native landmass tool

How did you get the plugin to install. The installer works and says successful but no plugin in the engine.

Make sure to chose correct place where your engine is installed. By default, installation location is actually wrong. If I remember correctly it tries to install in my documents instead of C:/program files/…..

Assuming its in the right location & build. It'll be in the plug-in list, like all plug-ins it'll need to be enabled manually.

What's the best way to bring texture over to UE5 and apply it? Would you have to export as mesh?

I might be wrong, but it seems like the texture node made the sat maps pixelated? Are you experiencing that as well?

It's probably resolution thing, try to crank up resolution of landscape and see if it helps. (unfortunately with free you can only export 1k so it will not be crisp.)

Yes it is, with UE would integrate something similar natively in engine. Current Landscape tools are pain

This plugin is not working for me in UE 5.4.4. It says on restart of the engine that the plugin was designed for UE 5.3 (although I installed the 5.4 plgin from the ZIP file), then gives some error message when I try to load it anyway (related to incorrect engine version). Needs an update quickly.

Are you sure you have installed correct version? Gaea downloads zip with two installers, one for 5.3 and one for 5.4. I just double check and my plugin works just fine in 5.4.4.

You are looking in the wrong folder. For some reason the files you exported in gaea don't end up inside the folder you created and instead end up in your default documents folder!

I'm not sure what I'm missing, but I followed your upload into UR and my heightmap is showing much larger than it should. Basically I see a yellow outline where the borders are, and then if I pan up I see some of the heightmap edges. I have to scroll way out to see the terrain and then it doesn't resemble the shape/formation in Gaea. I've been trying to figure it out but no luck at the moment.

It downloads zip file with two installers, one for 5.3 and one for 5.4. you need to install them. Make sure to install in correct place, since by default it installs wrong.

Well I followed this tutorial 100% and it did not look anythiung like the one I created in Gaea! Installed the Gaea plugin too.

Don't know what happened to me, the terrain gets really big in scale and the river not started at the 0 level, also divided in 64 x64... so its not just a simple import. My struggle with gaea always been aobut discover how exactelly that math works just to import the landscape in propper scale, Did all the tutorials ways, but never worked for me. Divide that height for resolution does not work and always end up align by hand with a pivot outerspace =) The terrain is always too far from the scale... If anyone just know any tip about how to nail this scale I'd very much apreciated! But really like the tutorial anyway keep up the good work!!

Honestly just give me a super basic panel with general map randomizing and the Unreal export. I’m not going to learn all these nodes just to output a height map.

You actually don't need most of the nodes in Gaea for most UE use cases. They are there for realistic environment renders, which we really don't need. I have new tutorial coming this week where I will show how to make quick environment with just few nodes.

@@MarisFreimanis I just got Massive World in Unreal. Easy plugin that randomizes sections of the map and you can move the work area around an 8km map for example. Still allows artistic control but good height maps. It’s basically randomizing stamps with some input sliders. Once you’re happy export the entire thing as one hmap and reimport to sculpt etc. Close to what I was looking for.
