Ich lerne Duestch🇩🇪 7 Gaeilge🇮🇪 i mo scoil. At home sometimes my and I sister speak in German so my parents can't understand😂. When I started secondary school my 1 year worth of German knowledge fastly out took my 9 years of Irish knowledge but now that I've improved my interest and fluency in Irish I start sentences in German and end them in Irish or vice versa, I heard loads of bi/tri linguals do that😂. (7 looks like the symbol for & in the Gaelic script/Uilian alphabet) That's really random, I know

Hey, just a question. When you were explaining how to say the teen years, why is it "déag" and not "dhéag" for twelve, thirteen etc?

Just recently stumbled upon your videos and they are really helping with learning Gaeilge and even hear the pronunciation! I noticed that you used for the 'teen' rule déag instead of dhéag, is that correct like that?

Rike, a chara, it's only 'dhéag' for 12: dó dhéag. The rest are all 'déag.'

My English isn't too bad. But writing it?? Sucks. I'm from Belgium and I had my first nanny at 6 yrs old. Mind you I never learnt to write at that age. Linda, the daughter of a famous footballplayer who came to Belgium to play with the Bruges' team was the first friend I connected to. We only had Dallas 'speak' then on TV. Then I had someone called Bodil, she was Swedish!!! After that they were all American. (California, Wisconsin & Florida). My grandfather was from Paris. So I was always very much around languages a lot from a young age. Flanders has a dialect that was not so easy to pick up, as we moved around... But with my Flemish, English, Swedish (and Frisian, I saw on TV) I knew from an early age...Spanish and Italian weren't really for me. I don't have anything against them!!! But, one day, I heard Van Morrison's Irish Heartbeat. Not even so long ago...There's a song on there in Irish. I loved it so much but when I saw those lyrics???? Even phonetics couldn't help me really. After years of wanting to sing that song along, I found your channel... It's really fenonimal...best of all. 'Go raibh míle maith agat' ...but that will not be the the best way to thank you, I assume. Although it's the sentiment that counts. 🙆🤞🤦🍀 I

wow I didnt know Irish language is getting extinct. it's like my dialect in the Philippines. Because so many are moving to USA, Canada, etc, most of the kids are learning English in schools, so our Ilocano language is getting extinct.
