Go raibh maith agat! D'fhoghlaim mé conas é a labhairt, ó mo mham ar inimirceach í as Éirinn, agus níor labhair mé é le tamall agus mar sin bhí sé go deas teagmháil a dhéanamh leis na bunghnéithe arís!!!!

This is very straightforward to me since Portuguese is my first language and we also have two verbs that are used to differentiate the different meanings of "to be" exactly like tá and is (In portuguese "estar" and "ser")
@pedrosegundo81094 күн бұрын
Like, when we say "he is a man" it's "ele É um homem" not "ele ESTÁ (or informally "TÁ") um homem" unless we really mean "he is being a man right now".

Learning irish & enjoyed this clip but I have a question re first group of exceptions...you seem to suggest single syllable Verbs like suigh, nigh, luigh guigh etc take FIRST conjugation endings (?) But I was taught these single syllable Verbs ending in -igh ( which have long vowel sound but NO fada) take the 2nd conjugation endings ( though Verbs like léigh which have fada would take first conjugation endings as you said) Is there a reason why different approaches exist??? If so could you please explain to me. Tx so much!

Is this worth learning as an American who travels to Ireland semi regularly? My grandparents were native speakers from Connemara, and I’ve been learning off and on.

Excellent! I've been doing Duolingo and they never bothered to describe why and when these different forms are used, so I've been wondering for some time.

‘daoibh’ is plural “to you all”, so to all of us in the audience, vs. ‘duit’ if you’re addressing a single person.

I also heard you can say "ar maidin" for am and "um tráthnona" for pm. ex, "It's 7am" would be "Tá sé a seacht ar maidin" and "it's 7pm would be "Tá sé a seacht um tráthnona" Am I understanding that correctly?

I'm from Belarus (easterrn slavic country) and i'm trying to learn Irish (cause it's the most beautiful language in the world, to my hearing). Listened to "Anuna" in childhood in 90's, heard Niamh Farrell & Linda Nic Leòid, Zoë Conway and others. Love Irish traditional songs and music. Elvish language. It's as beautiful as complex. I hope to learn it someday (at least be able to read it confidently). Thank you for your channel. And go on please
