I've been riding off-road on gaerne boots the past 8 or so years and I just gotta say they're amazing!!! For road riding I always use Sidi, but for off-road, between the G reacts and the SG12s I know for sure I would've had a broken leg without them. Saved me more than a few times.

Hi Chase...Great presentation on the SG-12. I have a question for you. I have been using the SIDI Crossfire boots for about 12 years and they have finally given up. One of the issues I always had with the SIDI boots was they toe area was on the narrow side and as I have gotten older, my foot seems to have gotten wider. The toe box besides being narrow also doesn't allow much if any room for my toes to move around. In your presentation on the SG-12 boots, you mention that the toe box has been made bigger to accommodate a wider foot. I curious if it also will allow some movement with the toes. I now am wearing a size 13 shoe so am guessing that would be the size I would order. Hoping to hear your ideas. Thanks John.
@rmatvmc22 күн бұрын
Hey, John. Thank you for watching the video and question. The SG12 and SG22 both have a good amount of room in the toe area of the boot. I do think that the SG22 is slightly more comfortable than the SG12 and has slightly more room in the toe box. If you've liked your Sidis, I would definitely recommend their new Crossair boot. They purposely made that boot wider in the toe box than the Crossfire 3 and I've been loving my pair. The Gaerne's are a stiffer boot and you could argue they have more support on big impacts, but the Crossair is been one of my favorite boots to ride in since it came out. - Chase

I'm sorry but l have SG 12's , and they do not " fit true to size " l wear 10's in Alpinestars tech 7 and ordered 10 in Gaerne even though l read through many comments online, saying they run large and to go down a size ! This is true. So l got a size 9 and it fits perfect, very comfortable after 1 hour on the bike they are just as comfortable as tech 7 or 10. The memory foam is awesome and the quality and protection is second to none.

Bought a pair of the SG12's when I got a KTM 1190 Adv R. The benefits were clear soon enough, and more and more heavy adv bike riders now prefer mx boots over the normal adventure boots due to the decreased risk of tib/ fib fractures and ankle flex. The SG 12's are also comfortable, and you can wear them all day without hassle (especially if you have fat feet and calves)

Thanks for that feedback, Robert. These aren't the best for walking a lot, but for all day comfort, you nailed it. Just like you said, larger legs are not an issue with these. Thanks for watching-Chase

Got a pair for Christmas and I’m stoked, these feel amazing inside. They are form fitted, anatomical. I wear a size 9 in shoes (in vans with a little wiggle room) I got a size 9 in these and they do fit good(a little less wiggle room than vans shoe) so I think I would rather have a 9.5 so can fit a bigger sock? Or will they stretch a bit ??? Cause my right toe nail touches the tip inside
@rmatvmc4 жыл бұрын
The toe box on the SG12 is a very hard plastic so I wouldn't plan on it stretching. They don't have a 9.5 so you would have to go up to a 10 but that might be too big. - Chase

I'm really having trouble deciding between the SIDI crossfire 3's and these. I want "feel" on the pegs but want a good quality boot. Also, wide or narrow doesn't really matter. I'm pretty much in between. What would you recommend?
@mtbmoto83415 жыл бұрын
Question Chase/team, I am interested in SG12, torn between instinct and sg. One thing though, is I feel perfectly in between 10 and a 9, saw they do sell in half sizes so I got excited as a 9.5 is probably perfect (10, heel raises a little too roomy, 9 toes are a little cramped). I know on your site RM, you don't have it half sizes. Should I want to go with the SG, are you able to get the half sizes? Secondly, do they feel like they rock a lot on the pegs when you are riding? I am worried the roundish shape of the sole under the ball of your foot will feel weird coming from my instincts that I have grown to love the flat profile of. Thanks! - Brandon
@mtbmoto83415 жыл бұрын
Sorry quick note, also interested, does the sg feel slimmer at the heel than an instinct while riding. The joint on my instincts always bugged me a little how it stuck out.
@rmatvmc5 жыл бұрын
Brandon, those are good questions! The SG12 in my opinion runs just a tad large so I think the 9 would fit you great if you're right between sizes. As for the sole, yes, the curved shape does have a little rock to them, but honestly, I got used to it pretty dang quick. Your first few rides in them will feel very different. The instincts sole is hard to beat when it comes to peg feel. I never really noticed or minded the joint on the instinct, but I do know that they slimmed it up a little bit on the new 2018 models and beyond. But to answer your question, the SG12 does have a narrower hinge, although I don't notice much difference. Let me break it down for you. best buckles-gaerne comfort-instinct sole feel-instinct durability-gaerne sole durability-gaerne The Gaerne also doesn't feel as "clapped out" as quickly as the instinct. If these two boots had a baby, game over. Hope this helps-Chase

@TheFreerider19875 жыл бұрын
matiasg97 if you have the budget for it absolutely. My first pair of Garne Boots was the step down from this one the SG10 and I got 5 years out of them before they needed to be resoled. That is 5 years of 1-3 rides a week and racing Enduro and Hares scrambles. I could resole my boots and probably get some more years out of them still. I started out in cheap boots and I would recommend getting the best boots your budget will allow. It will improve your riding comfort and safety. If you take care of them they will last you a long time.

On the SG10, the pivot point felt like it was keeping my feet farther out on the pegs by hitting the ignition cover and the clutch cover. I constantly kept trying to narrow my stance. Does the SG 12 have that same wide point?

Man, that is a tough question because the two are so different and each have their strengths. The SG12s will last longer and offer more support for the ankle. However, the peg feel on the tech 7 is better, shifting is easier, and the tech 7 is soooo comfortable. The SG12 are comfy too but it's hard to beat a tech 7. Can't go wrong with either one. Hi! I'm able to get an older model that's a 10.5 and an 11. Are they not offering the half sizes anymore? Also! The 10.5 has amazing ankle fitment vs 11 however I can kind of feed the sides of the boot at the toe box but still can move my toes. However on the 11 I have very free movement of my toes but some slack at the ankle where it doesnt feel as secure. How much do these boots open up with wear?
