Nobody on KZbin does an as honest and thorough review as Andrew here.. Most of my purchases in the past years have come from, or are considered due to his reviews... This review has an added value to me personally as I have the Nanlite setup he uses as a comparison, and I am happy for that as I have Nanlite and Aputure lights, but not tried the Amaran range

I’m glad you do these product reviews so consistently. I know you probably don’t make much outside of free products you get, but man if someone got paid to do this full time to review lights; your straight forward efficient method is so underrated. But also that comes from your experience in the field as a long time gaffer using stuff like this. Good stuff as always. Love the review, love Aputure, good optics, mediocre output. I understand making clean optics with high output is probably akin to making fast camera lenses that are super clean. Making things much less affordable on this scale. Compromises…
@gaffergear6 ай бұрын
I never thought of it that way, you are exactly right, the only difference is the direction of the light going through the lens.
@joewebb51386 ай бұрын
I’m sure it’s a little more complicated with camera lenses of course hence the price of those things even if it’s technically the same in reverse as you said. Anyways I know a lot of stuff is dropping but I haven’t seen you do anything on Lupo’s new panels. Let me know if you think it’s even worth it or possible from your neck of the woods. The output they are claiming on those things for the power draw and weight is very impressive if true. (Like the Lupo UltrapanelPRO Full Color Hard 60 for example, cough cough)…. They are behind the curve in terms of weather proof and CRMX etc.

Used a couple of these on an indie earlier this year. Idk if anyone else does this, but i added 1/4 CTO gel on top of settimg the light to 3200 kelvin. The film took place in the early eighties in Manchester and the p300 alone looked 'thin' to the DP. We played around a bit and found 1/4 cto on top of tungsten setting was the "difference between water color and oil" according to him. Anyhow, i liked the light weight and super easy use of these. Will be sticking with my 600Cs though😅

the nanlite 150D + spotlight mount is still my favorite combination for small team setup. just incredible light output on this little footprint

That's crazy bright for its footprint and power draw

I own a 36 deg bundle and the Spotlight SE is a compromised product for sure. The usage is fairly limited but compact enough to fit in my case as a grab & go lighting accessory. Nice review, Andrew!

Nice. I'll keep this in mind. The color distribution and sharp edges for a light I already have is hard to beat.

Very good review! 👍 I have owned the DP400 projection attachment from Dedolight for many years and am still very happy with it.

The color accuracy on these 300c are immaculately well tuned. I doubt that after all that tuning and effort they messed up by making the Tungsten mode different than 3200k. Your DP was very likely expiercing a placebo effect.

I actually took my dremel to the side of the mount to get rid of those bumps. Now I have more precision when tightening the knobs.
@gaffergear6 ай бұрын
Awesome, to go to that effort shows how frustrating a design it is.

Thanks for the excellent review Andrew! I appreciate your continuing honesty and ethics around these reviews. It's super helpful to see how you review the forza projection system compared to this unit, your standardisation of these videos is really helpful for that comparison!

This review is as scientific as it gets. Thank you for your time and effort. I am surprised that it’s not as bright as the nanlite counterpart.

Great review - as comprehensive as always. These seem to be in the same ballpark price as the Aputure Spotlights. Is there any reason you (or anyone else here) would recommend one over the other?
@gaffergear9 күн бұрын
@@darrencoates the big point of difference is the weight and these connect to the light and not a stand.

I was looking at this because my 60C with the 19 inch spot often lacks just a little output.. To learn that it is actually brighter than the 300c with the 19 inch spotlight is just crazy to me

Great review! Do you think the aputure spotlight mount would give more output on a 300c for a simple bounce?
