I was about to purchase one of these when I lost my job few months ago. Just not in the cards for me at this point. The work I'm doing now is a major cut in pay been struggling ever since. Still find myself watching videos on them though. I wasn't sure what the difference was between the two models. Thank you for such a detailed review.

I bought an Evo Pro over the holidays and had to return it due to the flaking boiler... It was my first proper espresso machine and as much as I liked it I didn't want to deal with it so I decided to exchange it for a Profitec Go and all your previous videos have been super helpful!

All the Evos have the coated boiler problem. if you have an evo, run water through the steam wand by switching on brew and steam switch at the same time and catching the water in a white cup. If you see dark colored flakes at the bottom, you have a defective boiler and need to contact whoever you bought it from. Gaggia is not taking this seriously and its costing people money. they wont do anything about it until THEY start losing money

Well I received my Evo Pro today and have pulled several espresso shots that came out great, with both pre ground and fresh ground espresso. No fancy gyrations on the temp side of things. I simply let the machine warm up for 10 minutes with porter filter attached, then removed it to fill and tamp. I purged just before pulling a shot, after that turning on the steam for 5 seconds. Then hitting the brew switch. The espresso came out great, so I’m happy with the machine at this point. If a problem arises down the road I’ll deal with it then, at least WLL is making good on defective machines ! Until then happy brewing……

I like your videos about espresso machines. Any updates on your Evo? I was in the market came across with your Profitec GO video, than I decided to buy GCP Evo. I just received my Evo today, I am not sure I should keep it. Prioir to my purchase I contacted with WLL sales team, they promised me Boilergate issue was isolated and no longer happens with the new machine. They even offered to send me a brand new aluminum boiler. Which is made me very uncomfortable, however now I have the machine, but I am not sure I should keep it, even try it out! So what's going on with your machine? Can you make a follow up video on your GCP Evo. I am really curious.

Loving it; daily shots were made, very consistent quality, quieter and has no flakes so far after a month of use. I do think people over think the flakes as "toxic" but in my opinion even if they flake no health issue will arise, except the inconvenience of having WLL replace it under warranty.

Hopefully they fixed the boilers in the newer machines. I had my Gaggia since 08/2023 and I have flakes when I checked. So yeah, boilergate affects me. The machine is great. Just the boiler is iffy. And Gaggia's response is lukewarm so far. I think this issue can kill their following if they do not take some decisive steps and communicate. Nobody wants to ingest boiler coating. You see the flakes, but there can be microparticles. It is foodsafe coating, that is not the same as safe to ingest.

Gaggia made a huge mistake with the coated boiler. You can (fairly easily if you are into that stuff) change out the boiler, the standard aluminum boiler sells for $35 on Whole Latte Love. IMHO, Gaggia (aka Philips Electronics) needs to do a couple upgrades to remain competitive. Specifically, a larger stainless steel boiler and a better steam wand and no-leak valve. They don't need to add 'electronics' because it is the 'electronics' that often fail on consumer-machines of any kind rendering the rest of the machine useless. I started with a $50 DeLonghi Stilosa. It made a decent (really small) shot. Literally: the steam wand on the Stilosa worked 10 times better than on the GCP (2019).

You could eat all of the coating from the boiler and it will not have a serious impact on your overall health. It could not be more than a few grams that will slowly leech into your coffee overtime even if it does have some level of toxicity it will just not be enough. People are insane when it comes to this stuff but have 4 drinks a week or smoke weed or walk in high traffic areas etc and never say a word. Typical internet over reaction.

While you had your hands in there, it would have taken you less than 15mn to dismount the boiler, show the inside to the camera so we can all attest that the coating is intact (is it ?), and put it back on. This would even have shown owners how easy it is to conduct this check themselves. But then chances are the final video would have taken a very different direction...

Thanks for reviewin g the machine. I have a question for your, Does this machine support dual voltage (120v-220v) ? In the website says in the power supply :230V 50Hz 1200W; 120V 60Hz 1350W . So in terms of using the proper power cord, can we purhcase this machine form uS and using in countries with 220V like middle east? and this machine is 9 Bar or 15 Bar?

No it does not support dual voltage. The machine you buy the voltage is based on the country the retailer is based at. The list is just for your reference since higher voltage machines are of course more efficient.

I will never buy a Gaggia machine or gadget, they have handled this so badly for me and many others, especially in Europe, there is no coordination between dealers as it seems to be in the US. I finally got my dealer to take back the machine and was promised a full refund (fingers cross), this after 2 months of hassle. A recall is the only RIGHT thing to do! Compare how Bambulab, a Chinese 3D manufacturer that had a problem with the electric cable for one of its machines and recalled all the machines, you thought that a European company would handle it better!

You probably need to do a little more research on "boilergate" before you start telling people it's safe to use. You don't need to remove the steam wand tip to get flakes out, you can use it like normal to dispense water and get flakes. You also can get them straight from the group. All people need to do is take a look at some of the pictures of the evo boilers with very limited use and see what is happening to them. Not something I would say they don't need to worry about.

@TheGizmoGarage
@TheGizmoGarage 10 ай бұрын
I did research, coating materials are "food safe" meaning they won't react in your body and will just pass out if you did drink any of those flakes. As long as they are not heated to melting point which will then release toxic fumes like those used on cooking pans. I took my chance and so far it seems to be fine.

brewing group and tube , which are brass they are not polished - they are chrome plated brass. In one machine it is fully stainless steel, on other machine chrome plated. Brass may be better for temperature stability but chrome plated brass is not very healthy, plus chrome will pill off with time in your cup. Yam! I would choose stainless steel with no questions over chrome plated brass. Also very confusing which one is which? classic, pro, v2, evo ??? could they come up with more specific names Evo 1, evo 2 evo 3 ... Classic pro is stainless or Evo is stainless. Still not get it.

The Evo it's been released all around the world in mid 2023. The only difference with the N. American version is that one comes with the 9bar OPV spring by default. Everywhere else in the world it comes with the 12bar spring. Btw the portafilter is 100% stainless steel on the Evo compared to the chrome plated brass of the 2019 Pro model. The brewing head (the outer side) is also stainless steel on the Evo, whereas chrome plated brass on the 2019 Pro.
