There's a weird promotional crossover with the recent Vtuber phenomenon, the games they play, and Japanese companies revitalizing old IP like ActRaiser, Hebereke, and Klonoa, as well as a new indie push like Vampire Survivor and Palworld. Similar thing happened with West-facing production ten years ago with Mighty No.9 and Blaster Master Zero. Also notable is Undertale and Toby Fox working close to Nintendo. Evercade is also getting projects off the ground with new physical releases sort of in the repro cartridge space, which must be influential behind the scenes to affect companies like SUNSOFT.
@GimblyGFR8 ай бұрын
@@sboinkthelegday3892 I really like what Evercade is doing. The market for cart games for old consoles is thriving right now. Many new games are being released and re-editions of old software for Genesis/Mega Drive, NES, SNES and even PC-Engine, and Atari released a new version of the 2600, including new carts! Sega, Nintendo and other companies could be profiting from old games and old hardware.

Oh interesting, so Momotaro Dentetsu is like Japan's Monopoly. Did it ever have a tabletop release or was it always a video game series?
@GTV-Japan8 ай бұрын
I think it’s only been a video game. It started as an RPG and the train game was kind of a spin off that got more popular
@Prodmullefc8 ай бұрын
@@GTV-Japan It's pretty intriguing though. I think video board games has been something I've mostly ignored and it seems like a mostly japanese genre. Iirc there were a lot of them on the Family Computer and the GameBoy. But other than Mario party, I can't really think of a lot of them that were big States-side.

Game of Life would probably be the true Japan's Monopoly that everyone has played. On the VG space there's plenty of such examples, Dokapon Kingdom, fortune Street and I personally like Culdcept Revolt that's sort of that + Magic The Gathering. But the board gameplay is pretty exactly a popular online game, 100% Orange juice that itself was some old SNES or MSX game I think.

@@JaxCoolKartunesFrenchies have their own comic industry with historically also a lot of cross inspiration from and for Japan. It is called bande dessinée (BD) and is popular in some other European countries, too. I used to be surprised that Anglos usually didn't know the stuff I grew up with (never read American super hero stuff but knew the characters from TV). Some Brits did but Americans didn't seem to know about Asterix Lucky Luke, Blueberry. I think French stuff is slowly getting more known. I think it actually has a lot of potential.

This channel is severely underrated
@GTV-Japan8 ай бұрын
Thanks and I know you’ve said it before! I think 55k subscribers is pretty good! But I’ve learned a few things and I know this can never be a huge mega channel. First, most people watching KZbin only like to hear things they already know repeated to them. They want something that feels unique and special to them received validation from someone else. For example “Earthbound is an underrated hidden gem.” Well it’s not exactly true. It was kinda of popular at the the time and the fandom for it means it can not be underrated. But telling that narrative makes the person who played it at home alone a long time ago feel special and made to believe that’s true. Very few people want to be challenged, want new information or want to have opinions changed. Also truly “obscure” things can’t reach a high level of awareness because KZbin is based on search and watch history and I guess trends. If something barely exists and no one knows it’s there, videos about it won’t be made and if it does, like this one, nobody knows it’s there!! So there’s that. Also the audience is too old. Almost everyone is 45-50. I like that. Maybe you are younger, I don’t know. But! This age range did not grow up with KZbin. It’s not a daily part of life and unlike say, teenagers, they don’t log in and stay on 12 hours a day. So the larger potential audience is out there but will never use KZbin. I can’t get the channel to appeal to anyone younger. I have no idea how to anyway. I think the screenwave/retrogaming/youtuber complex blacklisted me too because I like to make fun of KZbin and I think some took it personally. So that’s that. But I am happy with how far I’ve come and won’t stop!

@GTV-Japan It's just not the topic that makes your channel underrated but your tone and delivery. Being both entertaining and educational is not an easy skill people can develop!

@JustJulyo thanks. I really do appreciate that. But we know screaming like a moron wins the day at KZbin! But don’t worry I’m not going anywhere. I still have 1000 topics to cover and I can do this till I’m at least 70. So a good 20 some years to go!

Online leaderboards and the chance to win a trip to Japan. On other arenas, I remember Pearl Jam made a Space Invaders kind of game back when they released Gigaton.
