I was to say the same thing :) BTW Rockman is haverly inspired from Astro boy ,actually the game has to be an Astro boy for the Famicom, but Capcom did not get the license, but year later konami published Astroboy Famicom title "Mighty Atom" in 1988 :)

@@GTV-Japan To be fair, this feels like it came out around the time of Rockman 1, and that game certainly doesn't feel like it would get a sequel at the time... Then, Capcom rolls the dice and green lights Rockman 2: The Mystery of Dr. Wily, which becomes an international mega-hit and paves the way for countless sequels and spin-offs! Capcom always gets it right in the sequel. See also another game that came out in 1987 that really shouldn't have gotten a sequel: Street Fighter!!

It's amazing how much consistency across the board when it comes to Mega Man lore. Be it this manga, the Archie comics adaption, and even the American cartoon series, they keep the same bullet points of the character origins. Unlike the two certain other video game franchises that have backstories that are completely different in the West and Japan.

Mario and Sonic. Mario's Western origin has been consistently that he was a Plumber from New York who somehow found the Mushroom Kingdom via some warp pipe, but the Japanese origin seems to have been retconned to Yoshi's Island's story. Like they've been born in the Mushroom kingdom, and that Mario and Luigi are the same age. Sonic is all over the map. I remember a promotional comic advertisement that had some weird backstory about him being a regular hedgehog that a not yet evil Dr. Robotnik experimented on. I found a comic dub video if you're curious. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3zUg3yhh6qif9U And that origin was never brought up again.

Mega Man is the most consistent video game franchise ever made. It's both its greatest strength, but also its greatest weakness. Sonic is too inconsistent, Megaman is too consistent. Taking no risks with a franchise (Mega Man) can hurt it just as much as taking too many risks (Sonic).

@GTV-Japan

Thanks ColeFam! Yes in the Japanese text it’s called ice crusher. I don’t know why it’s changed in English. I decided to kero English names for the main characters and leave everything else as t was in JP. The book came out in 1992 so they had the game to go by easily. I like how you're using the game music as you narrate the entire story to capture a good feel. Instead of visualizing the gameplay but through sheer narration, it becomes more filling towards a story-based plot. Do you think the end of this manga kind of preludes to the conclusion of not just one but rockman 2 because he leaves his helmet on the grass?

My parents bought me and my sister Mega Man 2 when it came out. Seems like that was the game that pushed it into the main stream.. classic title screen etc. I remember buying Mega Man X for the snes in the K-mart bargain bin along with Flashback and Zombies Ate My Neighbours for snes in 1996... classic... Mega Man X2 was great too.. aside from that, I never got into any of the other games. I have the Mega Man game on the PS2, X7? It's complete trash!!!
