I also now have dedicated an entire room to building Gundam kits. Watching the Gundam series and movies as well as all the great Gunpla content on KZbin is how I spend an extreme amount of time. I actually discovered gunpla while looking for masterpiece transformers, I immediately drew a connection between optimus prime's head and that of a gundam (I know I'm sorry sue me). I started with the HGBD Gundam 00 Diver and the 1/100 Gundam Barbatos. Now online I posted 2 other kits claiming them to be my first as I was ashamed of how they looked, cut out with nail clippers and I had a little sand paper lying around. It was always hard to actually get gunpla as it was either order it online or go 100+ km down to the nearest city (I live in rural Australia) to pick them up. At first they helped me build a bit more patience which actually started to translate over into my life. They kept me busy during covid and online schooling. But I hit a pretty rough patch with my mental health. I had 0 motivation to do anything. I lost relationships, I fell behind in school. I was always on the verge of giving up entirely. But I had gunpla, and having something to do, even if it was small, it gave me a sence of accomplishment that I was severely lacking in life. Starting from that, I was pull myself out of that massive all encompassing void. This was around a month ago that i seriously began to focus on my health. As of now, I've built around 50 or so (at least one of each major grade) and I would go as far to say that the each played a part in saving my life. Now I know that might sound stupid or dumb but I treasure each of these kits more than I can say. So yeah, that's a basic summary of what they mean to me. Thanks for reading if you got this far! Idk if anyone wants to ask me about this but I'd be more than happy to share

There IS a connection between the Gundam head and Optimus Prime's head. The guy who designed the original Optimus Prime (known as Convoy in Japan) was Shōji Kawamori, who is best known for co-creating Macross (known as Robotech in the west). Prime's head was based on the Gundam, and Kawamori would later assist with the mechanical designs of the Gundams in Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory, which takes place between the original Mobile Suit Gundam series and its sequel, Zeta Gundam.

I remember walking past a hobby shop when I was a kid I was at a shopping centre and I walked past a hobby shop and I saw these insane robot figures, and it mesmerised me. I really wanted one but I was still young so I didn't get it. It was stuck in my mind for ages and after a while, I forgot about it, but I actually came across one of your videos and it all came back to me and I got my first kit then and I've been pretty engrossed in the hobby ever since. It has helped to get past quarantine and it's just calming in some aspects, and the satisfaction of the finished build is just amazing. I remember watching Gundam Wing when it first hit Toonami back in the day. I recorded every episode I could and would re-watch them over and over again. And then one day I was walking through my local grocery store and saw one of the old no grade wing kits. I was so excited that I asked my mom to get it for me and after about 10 minutes of begging, she agreed and got it for me. It was the Sandrock And I played with it so much. Then I started going on the Internet and learn there was more than just Gundam wing. Looking at all the designs pulling up on my 56K modem was just awesome and made me fall in love with the franchise as a whole.

It was like a part of my conscious had been unlocked to the sheer possiblities Gunpla provides. I was an early middle schooler at the time, the next time I went out with my mother I bought the Zeta Plus. I got into gunpla as a teenager but stopped around 19 as I moved to study abroad. I met my best friend around 24 but he soon moved away to another country. However, we have been getting in touch ever since. My friend, who is a civil engineer, revealed to me that he has been back to gunpla for quite sometimes and this is one of the reasons for getting me back into gunpla 12 years later as we could find something more interesting to talk about despite the distance. The other main reason is that gunpla is something that actually cures stressful life and also depressions. It is something that I was able to find the joy to feel a bit more alive. I was actually hooked into Gunpla when I was four years old when my brother had a 1/144 No Grade Saviour Gundam, which hooked me into the franchise. But me, being more of a destroyer back then, kept wrecking what Gunpla we had back then, including the MG Destiny (To which I still regret to this day at age 19). But it wasn't until I turned 18 when I got instantly hooked unto Gunpla again when I decided to give it another go by buying the HG Saviour and Gaia (Which are poor kits articulation wise and I brought it because I liked the Seed Destiny designs) and later the HG Justice Knight and the 00 Sky. And since then, I added five MGs onto my shelf and still collect more whenever possible

The look and transformation really reminds me of LFO's and their transformation into their ground mobility mode. There's something simple and effective when it comes to mecha basically just sitting down to make a transformation rather than the typical "laying down with a shield of it's face" that most Gundams use.

I got back into gunpla in 2019 after watching Build Divers. I remembered how fun it was to build the kits back when Wing first hit the US. I was at a Barnes and Nobles, saw one of the 30 minute missions kit, grabbed it, then it was off to the races. Haven't looked back since.

I got into gunpla when my friends and I decided to buy one kit each and have a build sesh. Never looked back since then, lots of gunpla later and more to come!! It's a big part of my life now as a hobby and providing content my KZbin Channel, mainly to share my experiences and collection to the amazing gunpla and plamo community!! Thanks for the great video as always Mecha, keep them coming!!

I had heard about gunpla from my brother, he had seen some stuff about it on discord and thought i would like it since i was a big robot guy. I thought it seemed cool but i didn't have any money at the time so i kinda forgot about it, years later covid hits and I'm locked in the house with nothing to do, i have a weird dream that reminds me about gunpla. Less than a week later i had 3 gundams built with a 4th on the way. Since then I've built 18 more. Gunpla to me is more than just a hobby(addiction if you ask my bank account), it's been a gateway to one of the coolest community's ever. The passion people have for these pieces of plastic is amazing, and content creators like mecha are such a treat it's unreal.

I grew up watching G Gundam and Wing on toonami years ago and watching 00 later in my teens. But I really didn’t get in to building gunpla until the pandemic and boy it has taken over so much of my time since and has brought my childhood back to me. Your videos have helped me find so many great kits and given much inspiration to try kits that I would have never thought to.

My younger sister gifted me a very small Char's Zaku II kit one year, and I was so impressed with the engineering while building it I went to a local hobby shop and picked up my first High Grade (08th MS Team RGM-79[G] Ground Type) the following weekend. I have around 3 dozen kits built just a short 2 years later, and no stopping in sight.

I was on KZbin one day watching gundam clips when a gunpla video popped up in my feed, checked it out and that same week and bought my first gunpla the HG Gouf Custom! Your channel has been a great help to me, currently getting ready to build the Full Mechanics Calamity Gundam

What got me into Gunpla is that when I was at the Japanese supermarket once my friend dad bought me an SD Kit and then I learn more about gunpla when I was looking at my recommended and then Gio San Pedro RG Nu Gundam Build ASMR video appeared and then I watch it and then I learned about Gunpla Grades and bigger kits and then I landed on this channel which Inspired me to buy more gunpla kits and then it helped to take away my boredness and stress of quarantine because I found the Gunpla kits are really fun to build.

I got into gunpla with the straight imports for those mid 90's wing and X kits. It and the shows on Toonami sparked a love of engineering. I'm a software engineer now and I took a long 15 year gap from gunpla. I found my old kits (broken and still repairing) Burned through almost 200 kits since covid and I am finally getting back in tough with my engineering and creative love of robots. I build the kits during conference calls and it centers me. With resin printing, I plan to release stls for custom armors in the whole GM line that Bandai dropped (Aqua GM, Semi-Striker, III Bulldog, Trainer, Light Armor, Juggler)

As a kid I was super interested in model kits+ planes etc, but hated to paint them. After a few years I stopped altogether. Before she died, my mom gave me a few Gundam and I didnt put them together because they didn't seem serious and required no paint or glue. Fast forward to last year, I got hit by a bus while walking and was paralyzed for six weeks. The only thing that worked was my hands and I was lying in bed for way too long! I asked a friend to bring them over and I ended up spending days straight falling in love with Gundam. I've gone through rehab and can (almost) fully move again, but I still buy and build Gundam kits because they remind me of my mom. We weren't close but she made an effort to connect with me, and I appreciate that so much.

I got into Gumpla as a means to relieve anxiety. When I’m in the zone, snipping, sanding, and snapping pieces together and slowly seeing my creation coming to life, it helps relieve my anxiety. I often find myself 2 -3 hours just building sections and watching them work. I’m glad I stumbled upon this hobby.

Being bored and watching iron blooded orphans during quarantine is what got me into gundam. But the thing that got me into gunpla was watching y-tubers like you and many of the speed build Chanel's. Also I have already built a barbatose which was the high grade barbatose lupus which was a very fun build and I would love to have another barby as my second kit even if it may count as 6 kits in one. TLDR, Gundam youtubers like you got me into gunpla, I have already built a hg barbatose lupus 1/144 and I would love to have another barbatose.

To be honest, I got into Gunpla back in 2014 when I was binge watching Gundam on YT and it took my interest. Your videos is part of the early reasons along with rrobbert174, V3, and other Gunpla KZbinrs. And let's not forget that Wrestler Gunpla Tutorial Guy. Definitely him too.

My first Gunpla was one of the old 1/144 Wing kits back in the day, but I seriously got back into Gunpla around 2015 with the 1/100 Barbatos. Gunpla for me is a stress reliever. I work from home, and when I "clock out" for the day, I pivot 90 degrees at my desk to start working on whatever kit I'm currently on. It's a way for me to "decompress" after a hard day's work.

Like many other people; it was my friend who got me into gunpla. He hounded and hounded me to watch build fighters with him and when i eventually did I was immediately hooked. My first kit was actually the HGBF Build Strike and I loved it. Gunpla to me is a way to do something creative in your free time. The fact that anyone can build a gunpla is amazing to me and the platform that it sets out for people to go above and beyond with customs etc is why i love gunpla so much!

Thanks for the great videos Mecha, keep them coming!!

What got me into Gunpla was your video review of RG Full Armor Unicorn Gundam. And then your review of RG Sazabi. I had watched Gundam Wing back in the day but could never find the model kits. Now I can find some at Hobby Lobby. Strange how the world changes sometimes, not that I'm complaining!

I got into Gunpla way back in 97 with Gundam Wing. I bought up all the sets I could find. After that hype in America calmed down I took a long break from the hobby. But in the last year or so I started up again because of channels like this. It helped with all the depression and boredom over the last year+ and now I can’t imagine a week without working on a kit.

I loved robots as a kid and bought a 10 dollar sand rock kit from a small stall in the mall when I was a young teen(late 90s). I didn’t even know it was a model at the time! From there I would save my money for months then go buy another one when I could. I stopped in highschool since I was getting older, but when we went into lockdown last year a friend of mine was getting into it to keep his sanity, so he got me to ttry building one( hg barbatos) and I have been building them since(over 50+). I’m a union carpenter so my job is rough on my body, but sitting down, having a nice beer and building (and painting, since I like customizing them) is my zen way of unwinding.

LIke (I would imagine) most American fans, Wing is the series that got me into Gundam. Saw my first assembled gunpla when I was like 11 years old, at a hobby shop where I was trying to buy engines for my model rocket. I don't even remember what kit I saw, but I immediately wanted one. I never had the money when I was a kid to buy them. About a month ago I started watching videos on the hobby (mostly MG's) and bought my first gunpla, the HG Gundam Heavyarms. I am so in love with this hobby now; I already have plans to purchase the MG Gundam Deathscythe Hell Ver. EW, my all-time favorite Gundam. I love your content MG, super in-depth and very transparent reviews that honestly critique all the aspects of a kit. Looking forward to your imminent review of the MG Virtue, and everything else. Keep it up!

My older sister got me the MG Wing Gundam for my 21st birthday. Up until then i had totally forget about gunpla since i was a child. I remember seeing the kits in our local mall but they were always way too expensive. If i was lucky i might have gotten an SD kit or something. But man, the nostalgia bomb. I about cried holding the box in my hand just imagining how happy i would have been holding it 15 years ago. I'm now about 8 kits in and i don't plan on stopping any time soon.

Actually you got me into Gunpla, or rather convinced me to order my first Gunpla Kit from HLJ (November 2020). I wanted to get back into model building, but roughly 20 years later, now as an 35+ adult i wasn't keen on getting all kinds of different supplies (cement, paint, tools etc.) just to make them look good, especially the painting part. Somehow i learned about Gunpla. Something i've never heard of...and as a side node: i did watch nearly all Gundam Episodes or Series there are, so how the fuck did i miss Gunpla? I can't explain. Maybe because i live in Switzerland. Someday i found your channel and after watching several of your videos i decided that building plastic model robots was a new hobby i want to try. Thanks Man!

I discovered Gunpla just through being in the anime community and hearing about the hobby. After I finished Gundam the Origin I wanted to get Char's Zaku so I bought the hg 2020 revive Zaku II and I haven't been able to stop ever since. Gio's Nu Gundam build vid got me talking to my wife about Gundam ealy 2020. She encouraged me to try it out during lockdown, which i did, with the help of your vids! I even started my own channel which was supposed to cover more Gundam, but primarily covers 1/18 scale action figures. I cover a lot of Joytoy figures which is also thanks to you, because of your video about the one of the mechs. Ahhhh feels good to get that out! Thank you MG 💀

Originally, my love of Gundam got me into gunpla. I started building my first kit, then ended up homeless before I could finish it. I didn’t touch another model kit for almost a decade. Last year I was sick with COVID and things weren’t looking great for me. A friend sent me a Freedom 2.0 to build as motivation to keep fighting and to help with my boredom over 6 weeks of not being able to move much. My last week of recovery, I finally had the strength to build it (finishing it on the 4th of July, which was also the day my son took his first steps). I’ve been building kits regularly since then.

Back when i was a kid my first gundam kit was NG 1/100 Double X Gundam with G falcon unit. I had no idea what it was but i asked my mother to get it for me and built it. This started my fascination for gundams. Fast forward a couple years when i was in china i got hooked on Gundam Seed which i watched in chinese dub. I was super amazed with the design of the freedom gundam and it became one of my favorite gundams since. Gundam had been a great therapeutic part of my life for the longest time i remember.

I used to love Gunpla back in the days of Wing's TV broadcast (I was in about grade 7 or 8 at the time) and built as many kits as I could get my hands on. I later ended up donating most of them to charities for kids as I wasn't displaying them anymore and some weren't in the best shape (thankfully the kids were happy anyway). During the pandemic though I wanted something to occupy my time that wasn't video games or reading as they didn't feel the most productive. Then I found this and other channels, and went from no Gunpla for years to buying about 7 to start building (thanks in no small part to how awesome and cheap the Iron-Blooded Orphans line is).

I got into gunpla over quarantine after being a lifelong gundam/mecha fan. It's really helped me by giving me something fun to focus on--it's also been great for boosting my productivity for other creative projects! My first kit was the HG Evangelion Unit 02, most recent was the RG Nu Gundam. So far, I've kept it exclusively 1/144 scale.

What Gunpla means to me is having a hobby that can be as intensive or leisurely as you want. I got into Gunpla because my father, despite being a control freak, saw that action figures you built would be better for my brain than just bare-bones action figures you just pulled from a package. I needed help at first but there was something magical about building the OG High Grade Gundam Death Scythe and devastating when my sister who was a toddler at the time, destroyed it. Now I relive those good feelings 2 decades later building gundams, and even adding extra details with paint or even doing full custom paintjobs.

I was actually watching a stream of other people getting together, chatting, and building Gundam Model kits. 20+ years ago I begged my mum to buy me a Tallgeese and deathscythe 1/144 in Toys'R'Us, building it felt like an achievement! I then found out a few years ago my mother convinced me to Gunpla, she saw that I watched Gundam after a family friend introduced me, she knew i really enjoyed watching. She introduced it as a way to calm me down as I was absolute trouble as a child along with being diagonised with hyperactive ADHD. Btw great review Keep up the good work, love you added the other packs to review the kit

My wife bought the first two kits I ever built. Right after we got together, 20 years ago, she got deathscythe hell and wing custom zero. The endless waltz movie had just come out. We built them together. And then didn't think about Gunpla for almost 20 years. When the mobile game came out 2 years ago she got me to download it. I had so much fun with it that when I found the hg barbatos kit at target I figured why not. That was probably 7 months ago. Since then I've built several real grade kits, mostly based on your recommendations. I just finished my first Master Grade. Justice. And I loved it. For me it's a way to relax AND reign in my A.D.D. Also, my 5 year old son thinks it's the coolest thing in the world. So I'm looking forward to sharing that with him as he grows.

I legitimately got into Gunpla through Gundam Breaker. It had been years since I had watched gundam back in Middle/High School in the late 90's, early 2000's. Back then a lot of glue was involved in Gunpla and kits were more than flimsy. Fast forward to 2 years ago, and I rediscovered Gundam along with about 35 years of content I had no idea existed, and Gunpla that's light-years from what it once was. It's my favorite hobby now.

Lego and K'nex were a good part of my childhood, got a few kits still safely stored and tinkered from time to time. I can say that my interest in Gunpla started when anime conventions got visitors to build a Gunpla kit for free and for keeps. Got an Astray Blue Frame, Dynames, Dafran and Aegis from those Gunpla booths. Gunpla reminded me a lot of those childhood days spent assembling Lego kits, and assembling Gunpla felt like home. One day, I will get a Heavy Arms because that's my favorite Gundam Wing MS, as well as an MG 00 Raiser.
