Fell in love with Zaku 2 more than the project V suits from the start of ep.1, due to the monoeye and the "Juoong" activation sound. 2nd fav was the Guntank (because of DOOM chaingun)

I honestly think Entry Grades are underrated in the community. They are cheap, require no tools, and still give you the experience of putting a lot together, albeit with much better runner organization. I love them for practicing new techniques for customization, whether it be painting or scribing. I would whole heartedly recommend them to anyone new or intermediate (for cheap kits to practice on). Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.

@basshibiki3 жыл бұрын
@@onionring1531 but I think the Unicorn is the earliest progenitor of fully assembled inner frame. I've built both kits. And both actually still uses the advance ms joints albeit very simple renditions like the Unicorn Knee Joints and for the Tallgeese its the backpact thrusters. You could also counts The 00 QANT as the true earliest progenitor of fully assembled inner frames because the arm parts are built from scratch. And for the right reasons, its fairly solid and strong enough to hold the massive GN Buster sword to a certain degree(emphasis on CERTAIN DEGREE). I've built it and was absolutely blown away.
@onionring15313 жыл бұрын
@@basshibiki To my knowledge all current RGs still use the advance ms joints in some form, just usually not for anything substantial like the head, shoulders, arms, torso, waist, knees, and feet of the Unicorn that were required due to the transformation. You are correct though that the Unicorn was definitely one of the first RGs to incorporate significant amounts of buildable inner frame to connect the prebuilt parts in order to complete the inner frame, as many of the earlier RGs including the 00 QANT did still have non MS joint parts needed to finish the frame they just didn't usually make up any of the joints.
@PlamoTherapy3 жыл бұрын
@@basshibiki All RG's before it had a "Preassembled Frame". For example, the leg is a single piece on the runner, and you build the whole arm assembly by laying parts on top of it. An MG-style frame is one where you build each part of the leg individually. This means the leg will have at least two major subassemblies: above and below the knee are built separately then joined together later.

I had pretty much stopped when I migrated 15 years ago, and basically entrusted the built ones to a friend. Just brought with me an unbuilt MG F91 v1 that was gifted to me by a friend at work while I was in Japan. Lost contact with that friend and have been trying to find them since, and I still have the kit unbuilt in its box, and I decided to only build it once I've finally reconnected with them.

Built a 1/48 Rx-78-2. VERY limited articulation but a LOT of fun to build and it gets a lot of attention on my shelf.

I got into Gunpla recently, only two years ago, and my first kit was the GM Cold Districts Type, and i love the that old kit. Not the most articulate, not the most detailed, but boy is it special to me

First ever kit was the SD Barbie Lupus Rex. Started small and worked my way up to PG. Still looks good after a year later!

I've been getting back into Lego in my 30s, so I wanted to try different kinds of model building and picked up my first Gunpla kit at a hobby shop (while watching the video I checked and it's an HG). I've barely finished the chest and I'm already looking up other kits because I'm having so much fun! I appreciate this video giving me more insight into what I'm doing. If anyone is curious, I picked up a Kamiki Burning Gundam. I don't know anything about the anime (except that it has a ton of different series), so I picked the one with a sword I thought looked cool.

As for me I started with SD's since they are the cheapest and provided the basics for those who are afraid to mess up their kits or those who are not confident with small parts. This is where I also worked my way up with HG's and even started customizing hahahaha ')

my very first kit way back on 2004 was a 3rd party brand and the model is zaku if I'm not mistaken and thats it. I never touch gunpla ever since, until MGEX came out. That the real reason I come back into building gunpla. and MGEX was my first kit after more than 10 years.

I remember when I first started my Gunpla journey, I was absolutely convinced that I wanted the biggest kits I could reasonably afford. I ended up recording the No Grade 1/100 Gundam Astray Green Frame. A fine kit, though I've had to re-glue the arm pegs so many times I've just elected not to pose it anymore. Nowadays I think I'm more of an HG guy. I know there's some amazing Master grades out there, but if you need something to scratch that Gunpla itch on a budget, you really can't go wrong with an HG. My first HG was the RX-78-2 Revive and I fell in love, it did a great job of selling me on everything the line has to offer. Can't wait to build another!

Me too, I started with 1/100 no grades, love the details on it, never really checking out on 1/144 until the Age Kits that convinced me on going all out to HG and recently RG, never looked back on 1/100 kits even MGs because the sparse release and the relatively limited model selections compared to HG

If you're new, don't do what I did. My first kit was the full armor unicorn ver ka, second was mg ex/s, and third was mg psycho Zaku Ver ka. Managed to finish all three, but it took me 3 months. I then went overboard, and purchased 3/4s of the ver ka line, have all the 00 kits (including quanta full saber and the 2 perfect grades), I'm now working on finishing the MG Seed and Wing line, and the PG Unleashed/MGEX Unicorn. Jumped in this hobby because of how cool the Unicorn looked, and fell in love with it. Best decision ever.

For me high grade is the best. I prefer the smaller size, and it makes it so more can fit on a shelf. They also have a very large variety

“Gundam Universe” figures are underrated. Sometimes we don’t have the patience to build one, so having one prebuilt with great detail is a plus.

First kit was a 1/144 Zeta (not HG i think). Built 26 years ago (1995). In hindsight the Zeta was the worst choice for a 7 yr old kid building the first gunpla. Broke it because I thought could transform like a Transformers. Only part left of it today was its right hand that I kept in a display case with a metal plaque inscribed "The Origin of The Addiction"

Ever since I watched gundam series, those NG's (Non-grades) are my opening door on building gunplas The first NG ive ever assembled is a Genoace from AGE series in which i get from a gunpla caravan in our country. Till this day, my Genoace still on my shelf of my HG collections, but ive painted in in dank colors. My first HG kit ive built is none other than the IBO line barbatos in 6th form, currently im building my first MG gunpla, Mr. Grandaddy RX-7 😊❤️

So... how many people here have been building/collecting gunpla for several years but still watch every single "beginner's guide to gunpla" video just for fun XD

I started with gunpla recently after watching your videos! For my first kit I went with the MG Barbatos, just finished the build today and was a pretty enjoyable experience I would say, a great starter MG. I have the MG Freedom 2.0, Sinanju Stein ver. ka. and Nu ver ka boxes waiting for me. I think i'll build the freedom 2.0 next followed by sinanju stein and the nu ver ka for the last.

I started with an HG Zaku ii, after getting tired of badly painting WH40K minis. I really liked it, so now I've got well over 15 kits built, and I've been putting together other PlaMo since then. Now I'm painting the fingertips on a Tsugumori, and I'm going to paint the swords on a Mobile Movementress kit...

Just finished my first HG OZ-06MS LEO and i think i’m in love with gundam now. I have only ever done model cars/tanks/and aircraft, but the added mobility and customization of the gundams is absolutely fascinating to me. although not necessarily hund am, i am hoping to find a model kit of BT-7274 from Titanfall 2.

While I was researching which Gunpla would be my first, I came across this video. I was mostly thinking about the grade of the kit I would get so I settled for HG. Now I'm 4 kits deep, with plans of buying a MG in a few weeks

Just built my first kit last weekend. RG Char's Z'gok Saw it at my local game store and impulse bought it because it's my favorite mobile suit from the original series. Went back this week and got the RX-78-2 to go with it (I saw a lot of people saying that's it's a pretty bad kit, but wanted it anyway) I seriously can't believe how fun it is to build these. Not ready for painting yet, but I do plan on doing it eventually

I find myself finding myself in love with High Grade kids, specifically from The Witch from Mercury. Straight forward, simple, elegant, sleek. No assortment of crazy whacky stickers (the anime doesn't have any decals on the gundams or mobile suits). They do have a lack of color differentiation in certain parts because of size and variety of being molded on mostly 4 individual colors, plus 1 or 2 specialty pre-printed detailed parts. But they are the most affordable, easiest to put together, and I don't feel guilty customizing them.

I appreciate the video! I'm starting out with Gunpla next month after my birthday. Gonna get the MG Barbatos because, although it's not a typical Gundam design, it looks dope as hell and I want it! Simple as that.

My first kit was RG qant. And from my experience with that. I say that RG is the line you start with. It's small, cheap and shows you exactly what you're in for when pursuing this hobby. All the good and the bad.

Noob builder here! Just got into the hobby around 4-6 weeks ago. My 2 cents is just build what you like. My first build was HG Banshee 02 which I absolutely enjoyed. From there I built the RG banshee with absolutely no problems. Last week I even finished a verka, EW zero. The advice of buying “newer” kits is definitely true, I’m presuming.

I like to recommend the HG rx 78 revive to new builders as it's solid, cheap and has decent articulation. You can start with whatever but I think one or 2 cheap and solid HG's are nice to get a feel of cutting and cleaning up parts. I'd rather screw up a kit I payed 10-20 bucks on rather than 60-80.
