Lol....didn't know about that little trick of putting part of the thread net into the core of the spool and folding it over....makes perfect sense. Thank you.

Thanks Gail. I'm just getting back into sewing. And different places were conflicted about the nets as to sewing with them. As I was going to try and purchase more nets so I could have all my thread ready to go, or at least the one's most used. But didn't want to waste money purchasing more nets if I couldn't sew with them on my different machines...serger, sewing, and sewing and embroidery combo.

Hi Martha, I always use a net with rayon threads and I’m glad you know how to also. Thanks for watching Serger Tip Clips!
@GailPatriceDesign6 жыл бұрын
You really don’t need thread nets on every type of thread. The threads I use nets on is most frequently is rayon threads. That fiber has a tendency to relax and slide down under the spool. This allows the thread to get hung up and jam the machine. Using a net is an easy fix. If you do decide to use nets on your sewing/embroidery machine, keep an eye on the stitches. You might have to tweak the tension setting slightly, but it may also be fine. But nets can affect it. Hope that helps-thanks! And thanks for watching Serger Tip Clips!

You're welcome. Thread nets are a clever solution to prevent slippery threads from getting hung up under the spool. Thanks for watching, Jay. Happy New Year!!!

Thank you for your tutorials. I am a new serger user, I have yet to take a beginners class (my brand spanking new Singer 14T968DC | PROFESSIONAL™ 5 serger is still in the box). I am glad to have access to your tutorials. I do have a question, however, is there is difference in the quality of thread nets? Questions such as what should I look for or avoid. Thank you Gail :-)

Ty. How do you put the thread on the machine if the hole is plugged up with the net? Sorry if it's a silly question...I've bnecer used them before...tia
@GailPatriceDesign3 жыл бұрын
Hi Poocky, No such thing as a silly question for sergers. Even though the thread net is in the spool hole, it isn't bulky and the spool will still fit over the spool pin on your machine easily. Let me know if you have more questions and thanks for watching Serger Tip Clips!

I haven't seen any significant difference in thread nets. Get your serger out of the box and start having fun. My new book has lots of great info for new and experienced serger owners. Thanks!

+Gail Yellen I have ordered your book Serger Essentials, same book? I am excited to try my serger...just a little intimidated at the moment. Thanks!
