Awesome about the membership program! I've been hoping for something like that so we can see our favorite exercises in one place.

I know what you mean. I thank God everyday for letting me have another day. I am so blessed and remember how far I've come not how much I still have to go. I couldn't walk, talk, swallow. Now, with a lot of hard work, and doing a lot myself. I finally found Dr. Tobias and have incorporated everything she has taught . me in my daily routine. I can walk and talk pretty well. I still have sensory problems with my right hand and like you, I loose words. I can't think of see words that I want to say. But, I am working on those things daily. I uses lot of apps on my computer for cognitive issues. It's not easy. Some days I am so tired from the day before, I don't do as much but got to move about and dias much as I can. Do your best! Don't get depressed, it will get you nowhere.

Thank you for making us aware of the extremely important role of the hip muscles in transferring body weight from one leg to the other, because due to the high center of gravity it is not easy at all. Also free swing of the arms is very important for proper gait. This is another proof of your commitment to the smallest details. Have a nice week

My therapist has me increasing my stride length to improve my walking in my gate and being an account and I keep track of my steps so how many steps it took me to walk my driveway before I did this and I’m down to 27 stats worries take me 35 but the problem is the new way that she has me walking my right wrist is killing me and it’s always throbbing in pain because my quad cane as I Chi didn’t have any cushioning on the grip sorry go out and buy a cushion for it but until my hand heals up I can’t go out and walk as much as I would like to
@rehabhqofficial3 жыл бұрын
Hi Scott! Thanks for sharing!! Generally speaking if you change your gait pattern and end up with more wrist pain, there is a chance it is because it is not the best "correction". Wrist pain may just be that you are compensating by putting more weight on the cane. Just a thought :) Definitely bring this up with your therapist. I am sure he/or she can find the root cause and resolve this new onset of wrist pain :)
@scottwhite25833 жыл бұрын
@@rehabhqofficial At first taking longer steps I felt more confident really having a death grip on my cane and planting it which was impacting my wrist every time I stepped forward so now I just hold it back with my fingertips that seems to alleviate the problem someone put it on my wrist heals up I’m not really leaving my driveway to walk up and down the street but I’m still getting my steps in I mean today it’s a light day cause I went to church I’ve only got $3600 and up with 5000 or 6000 when I’m done

How much I’ve told stroke survivors when they get home and they’re just being used to walking without a therapist pick a place in their house they can do laps in and just set a goal of doing like 10 laps a day till you build up your strength and your confidence and walking before you start going outside I know your limitations don’t be defined by them I’m in armor when I came home with Foley catheter at me for good I started doing 10 laps a day in my living room to my sliding glass doors within two weeks I was doing 20 that I was going outside into the sunshineUntil I had the confidence to walk out of my driveway and start walking up and down the street

Hi Dr. Tara. Love your videos! I was diagnosed with MS 5 years ago. Around the same time I had an excruciating pain at L5/S1 joint, which went away within a day and after an X ray exam was never followed. Currently I have a serious problem with ankle/knee movement of my right leg. I cannot help but wandering if this problem is related to MS or L5/S1 (not that physical therapy would be any different). What do you think?

Hi Leslie! Thanks for watching and for your question! What type of "movement problem" is the most problematic? (ie: ankle spasticity, knee spasticity, abnormal synergy...etc).

@@rehabhqofficial I have left leg spacticy. Mostly from the knee down. When I practice walking I lift from the hip. Looks more natural. I also fell and broke my hip a year ago. Can someone (me) achieve a normal gait and regain muscle strength (meaning the hips) after enduring a total spinal stenosis, doing your exercises? Thanks, Dr. Tobias. It just crosses my mind, maybe I could catch up (rehab wise) for what I should have done years ago, with the help of your channel, Doc. And: *yes* - I did subscribe.
