I agree Gakkou Gurashi was a great show, but The Last of Us did something similar and even better imo. The Last of Us did take much longer though, seeing as it's 3 times longer than this show.

Captain Sheepyz the last of us focused a lot on combat against zombies and humans and it can be harder to kill a human over a zombie, which they kinda showed in this show also but not as much

Doesn't The Walking Dead also discuss the mental effects of the Zombie apocalypse? (But since it's more on the fall of societal order and loss of humanity, maybe what you mean is really coping mechanisms, which indeed Gakkou Gurashii does handle better).

The name Iitakatta Kotoba translates to "words that i wanted to say", and i don't think there's a more suiting name for this song. It gives the vibe of faint memories rising up out of the depths, those little regrets that ate away at you, the wish things could've stayed the way they did. That you could do and say all the things you can't now. It's a lonely nostalgic feeling.

@@aplexdav6629 I don´t know, while I am definatly a weeb now, I don´t think I was that much of a weeb back when I played the last of us. And it is not like I need things to be anime to enjoy them. I am still a Trekkie first and a weeb second after all. But I think the difference lies in the characters, School life has a well balanced an memorable cast while for TLOU Ellie was great, but was not enough to carrie the game while joel purely switched between grumpy man and need to protect (not quite) daughter. It did not help that TLOU has as bland of a gameplay mix as they come.

Comparing Gakkou Gurashi to Highschool of the Dead: Gakkou Gurashi focused more on the mental side of a zombie apocalypse, while H.O.T.D. focused more on the physical side of a zombie apocalypse. (I think I'm the only one who would like to see what would happen if Gakkou Gurashi and Highschool of the Dead crossed-over.)
