Cats _are_ apex predators, just small ones. Some other animals will fight with them on occasion (and even then, the cat wins far more often than you'd think), but nothing preys upon them. As an invader species, they've proven unstoppable in every environment they've found themselves in, which is pretty much every place on earth except underwater. Edit: I stand corrected (see replies)

In South America, there's a wild cat that has adapted to fishing, and tigers have on occasion gone diving for prey. In Australia, domestic cats have been growing to large size because there are no other large predators except dingoes.

There's lots of unique & wholesome HFY stories. If you're just getting the same type over and over, then it may be the algorithm at fault. I recommend the channels "Agro Squirrel" and "NetNarrator". They both have huge collections with a lot of variety.

Cats are intelligent, sentient creatures. They just make people obey them, without us knowing they are the masters. They don't need us but we need them. They live with us by choice, because it makes things easier. We do everything for them. We give them food, warmth, and companionship. And they give us more in return.

I believe this story is what is known as a "premonition". I have always said that Cats are Master Linguists. I am sure they can understand AND speak any language on Earth. Humans are just not important enough to talk to. We train easily.

Cats are apex predators. The common house cat has been responcible for the extinction of over 33 species in North America.

Apex predators don't have any predators above them. Cats are often eaten by larger predators. Being responsible for extinction doesn't change that.

Cats became prohibited speices not allowed on any alien planet. They were going to do this until an Ambaidor was befriended by dog. Now dogs live throughout the galaxy loved by all races.
