The best thing about very old formats and cards in duels like this, is that little to no talking or pausing is happening since we all know whats going on because we know these cards so well now and it suddenly makes it so much more intense and even entertaining to a degree because you don't have to double-check everything just to keep up, anyone agree?

This is the gameplay I like. Without all the nasty additions of card types and the OP and one-round-KO cards nowadays. The good, ol' school YuGiOh ,where in the first player turn we still can draw a card (old rules). And only with the original card zones on the field.

back in the day they banned cards like witch of the black forest cause it can pull allmost any monster to your hand. Now everyone has monsters who special summon others imediately, respawn other after being killed, discarded etc... basicly you can summon so much monsters in one turn you win the game imediately and that sucks

Yep, just tried to play online, one opponent, in a single turn before i could do anything, has summoned a 3000 ATK monster like nothing. The turn after he summoned a 5000+ ATK monster...

You know what's broken? Classic exodia decks. Pendulum can be easily be dealt with bottomless trap hole, mst or giant storm.

Other then synchro summon the og way to summon is fusion ritual and sacrifice summon. But i would go with synchro other than xyz or pendulum just like I would choose 5ds over zexel or arc v

bring back old school as a standalone format! Magic the Gathering has a format for that and its highly successful. Do the same for Yugioh and let us use some of our old cards and decks that would no longer compete in a modern setting

Its hard to explain sometimes... I do know that when I played last year with my old deck, a lot of the other players ridiculed me for not having synchro or xyz. But idk...I thought it was more crushing for them to lose than me. One guy dropped his cards everywhere shuffling cause he got mad. Hell I was missing a chunk of my deck anyway (banlist lol)

But really though, this is how we played before and there wasn't any problem or asking about rulings. We already knew what did what...If someone blew up my monsters with Raigeki, I had a mirror force waiting. If they harpie feather dusted the backrow, we had a facedown or two to defend. Plus we never put all our cards down... Sure yeah, in a game you could get your whole field wiped...but hey shit happens. You went and played again.

Well the new pokemon aren't even pokemon anymore...its so diluted now. Sure yeah its fun to play it on the ds maybe, but I don't think it would've ever been as big with the new pokemon. The original pokemon were more "real" which made it cool. Plus Ash is... idk anymore lol...Well, at least we got Red. That's one thing Yugioh (Duel Monsters) has over pokemon in my opinion.
