Doing my very 1st mosaic on M31, just waiting on the imaging to finish so I can start processing and stitching. Thank you for this video, it is very helpful.

such a beautiful result! when I upgrade to a GO TO equatorial I think I'll give mosaicing a go!

Looks great! WCS = World Coordinate System, just signifies that the images have data attached that map them onto absolute coordinates of the celestial sphere. For small areas of the sky the projection doesn't matter too much, but for larger areas the problem is that we are trying to represent a curved surface (part of the celestial sphere) on a 2D surface. This is analogous to the problem of constructing 2D maps of the Earth. For any significant areas of the sphere, the image has to be distorted in order to fit a flat image. A Mercator projection involves progressively larger stretching of the image as you move away from the equator (ie. the middle of the image vertically) in order to map the sphere onto a cylinder, which is then "unrolled" to create a flat map.

Thanks, this is much easier than it was before. It would have taken all day to do 4 panels with star alignment and all that mess.

Nice video. I could never image solve by list of images but could do them one at a time--I then saved with the plate-solved data imibedded and the rest worked fine.

The FITS standard defines the world coordinate system (WCS) as a mechanism to associate physical values to positions within a dataset. For example, it can be used to convert pixel coordinates in an image to celestial coordinates like the right ascension and declination. (GNU Astronomy Utilities manual)

Great video Antoine and that image is stunning * chef's kiss * 😋. What focal length did you shoot at? I'm shooting at 430mm so you've got me interested in doing a mosaic which I've never done before, rho ophiuchi complex is so unique

Great video!..question: once you created your master frame did you then do Graxpert (or DBE), then SPCC, BlurXT, NoiseXT, etc. or did you do those steps initially on your 4 panels BEFORE creating the mosaic? Thanks Much!

I’ve been avoiding mosaics because I thought it would be super complicated. Now I have to try it. 😂 Did you have to do anything to the images to make them match in background and general color? Were the images taken in a single night? Looks like a lot of detail, so I’m guessing multiple days of work.

beautiful work Antoine ! in my mosaic (Veil nebula loop) I had double stars in some zone and I'm trying to change some parameters with no better results..any suggestions?

Thank you very much for such a clear explanation video! However, once I use the "MosaicByCoordinates" script, the resulting registered images come totally white. I cannot get through this. I can perfectly the STF streched panels once I run "ImageSolver", but not after when they are registered. No errors appear in the process. Maybe I am missing something? Thank you!

is it possible to post process the finished mosaic picture? Like correct Background Gradient or BlurXTerminator, NoiseXTerminator and so on? Or do I have to do that before with every single picture?

This is all done with unstretched raw images correct? Stuoid question i know.... im assuming you used STF autostretch here.

Thanks for the interesting video! I have a question: does the script “MosaicByCoordinates” work with linear images? It fails for me. I follow your workflow because i have two session of IC1805 Heart nebula not perfectly aligned. I would not crop anything after stack, and using all the data with the process GradientMergeMosaic.

I have both AstroPixelProcessor and PixInsight and use them both for different tasks. Mosaics are definitely THE defining area where APP absolutely blows PI out of the water, it's not even a contest.
