This is the second installment of a 5 part tutorial series detailing step-by-step how to repaint a 1/6 scale head, specifically the Sideshow Collectibles Obi-Wan Kenobi. In this video I go over the process of painting skin tones.

Awesome paint job. Very lifelike. I paint alot of horror themed figures so a flesh tone isn't really prevalent in most of my models. But I recently did a Robocop & couldn't get the skin tone just right. Then I searched on KZbin & found your series on the Obi-Wan sculpt. I hit subscribe right after watching. I now use your method. Thanks 🖒

No THANK YOU! I couldn't get it right till I watched your vids! Now my Robocop sans helmet looks good. Not as good as yours but better than what I was getting.

Thank you so much for the guide! What do you use for a Dull Coat?

I would KILL to be able to get skin tones like this. I just don’t know how to properly blend these paints, nor do I know how to do transitions or how to use glazing mediums. Every video I see, they make it look very easy but I don’t seem to be able to get the hang of it.

Hi, I posted a step by step video on mixing skin tone paint as well. If you start with that you’ll then be able to follow the steps in this tutorial.

I used Testors Dulcoat... it's an aerosol, so bad for the environment... but good for the paints

What kind of paint do you use? How do you mix it? Thanks...

Hello! I’ve been reading about the difference between an artist acrylic paint vs acrylic that are marketed for figures. What type of acrylic paint are you using since you said you mix your skin tone color yourself? Are you using an artist acrylic?

how do you use the dull cote and what brand do you use?
@GalactiVids5 жыл бұрын
I use Testors Dulcoat; which is an aerosol product... so I will spray about 2 feet away from the head and move the head around a lot in order to get a consistent coverage. It's hard to explain exactly what you are going for at this point, but at first the head will look completely wet like you just dipped it in water. However, you do not want it to actually drip. If the head is dripping then you've over applied. After a few minutes as the dulcoat dries it will no longer look shiny/wet and the matte finish will be present.

What's a dull coat? Matte sealer?
@GalactiVids2 жыл бұрын
Dulcoat is a type of sealer maybe by Testors. It’s a spray can so it goes on and dries quickly.

@@GalactiVids Hi, do we use matte arcylic paint on skin ? Because I found out that there are matte and glossy type arcylic paint . 2.And what's the paint that they use to touch up the eyes to give them glossy feel? 3. In the last step, do we use matte or glossy varnish to seal up our paint?
@GalactiVids3 жыл бұрын
@@jowyanderson6129 so I always matte or flat paints. But then I get different finishes by using matte varnish or gloss in different areas.

@@GalactiVids Thank you very much for the information. I should probably get my hands on those paints, I was quite confused because there are so many types of them .

Daryl knapp checkout the last video I posted, it explains the process fir mixing skin tones. It’s a fairly involved so a separate video was necessary.
