Salvation is a free gift but that doesn't mean Works of the Law = Works of Faith. Works of faith are a natural outcome of faith. In Galatians Paul is specifically addressing the Law of Moses.

YES, the gift of salvation freely given runs so contrary to our competitive and egoistic natures that we have difficulty seeing its deep worth.

As someone almost 42 years old who has been saved since I was 7, raised as a Baptist, the teaching of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit in this context is completely new to me. I have never felt anything like a bomb in my soul and that makes me rather sad. Not because I desire a bomb in my soul but I wonder if that speaks to a lack of faith or something else lacking in my walk with Christ.

The Lord spoke many time of what is required for salvation...Repent and believe in the Gospel....Thats it. Do you constantly think of God and Jesus, do you constantly wish for peoples salvation, then you have the Holy Spirit. Dont think of it as an emotional heavy cloak that is put on you where you always "feel" everything Godly. The spirit of God is soft and gentle and kindle faith in you. Emotions/feelings can accompany faith but its not the evidence of faith....

I have heard you say that when we feel far away from God, its like a marriage, if you have a disagreement with your spouse and that connection is broken, you are still married but you need to re-connect by asking forgiveness! Is that not a similar thing to knowing you have done something wrong and it has separated you from God until you confess it? So yes, God does still love you but until you confess that wrong doing that relationship is marred?

Saved by faith alone, but faith is not alone. We arnt saved by works. But works is a result of a change in our hearts. That change comes from the holy spirit in us. James says if you say you have faith but dont show any compassion, mercy, love to others then do you actually have faith? Dont just say you have faith, and act like those who dont beleive. That faith with out works is dead. People think james is opposed to paul, but its complementary.

It's really difficult to understand and stand on the fact that what we do doesnt affect how God feels about us especially when things are really bad in one's life.

About 8 minutes in he said new Christians not having the foundation and be led astray very good point What is the foundation of the gospel anyone?
@eseohen
@eseohen 2 жыл бұрын
Christ is the foundation of the Gospel. The knowledge of the finished work of the cross and all that Christ has done for us is a firm foundation. He loved us even while we were still sinners. So even now that we are saved He will always love us and there cannot be any condemnation. We are saved by grace through faith. As believers walking and continually endeavoring to abide in Christ, we are kept by faith.

that there is only "one" requirement to salvation. Repent of your sin and believe in the Gospel and that it is a gift from God and not by our works so that we can boast but a free gift by Gods grace for anyone who believes.

Salvation is not fixed because you made a decision at one time in your life at an altar somewhere. That is completely absent from the scriptures. It’s conditioned on your continued belief in Jesus Christ. This is clearly seen from the scriptures because you see warnings of the need for continuance throughout: “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, IF YE keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.” (1Cor. 15:1-2)

Very very true. Fortunately I have seen many brothers and sisters who gave their heart to the Lord in the traditional way at some meeting go on even 30 years later to still believe and follow Christ, sadly one or two fell away as well.

Is it legalism to say you must be born again to be saved

Being born again is the result of salvation. It comes hand in hand. When you are saved by faith you are born again. Jesus said in John 3:3 no one can see the kingdom unless they are born again. How are you born again? By believing in Gods only son jesus christ who died and was raised up back to life by the power of god. Not to say people wont change what being born again means, that can be legalism if they say you must do xyz to be born again. Such as to be born again you have to go to church, or you cant eat meat ect. Thats when its legalism.
