Pa Ranjith is national treasure. Seriously. What clarity of thought. What a revolutionary. When majority of Indian movies are going backwards in terms of ideology, Tamil cinema is fortunate to have someone like Ranjith. Every time I listen to him, I learn something new

I love the balance between technical and idealogical questions asked by BR to Ranjith. It’s yummy when a creator talks about the nuance behind his creation. I got the same feel when I watched the movie which I have now after watching this interview - Pa Ranjith will become one of most influential and inevitable creator of our lifetime

Pa.Ranjith is India's Gem, a National Treasure in Making. I was in Awe after watching the Film & it satisfied me at so many levels. After watching this Interview, i understand the Philosophies, Symbolism & Complexities in his Portrayal. He's a Political Filmmaker, a Master of his Craft. People like Vivek Agnihotri on the other hand are poor examples of Political Filmmakers. Ranjith takes Inspiration from Spike Lee & Godard, from Van Gogh & Picasso. He's a National Treasure who's taking Indian Cinema to heights no one in India could. Thanks to Periyar, Thanks to Babasaheb, who shaped him. Now I'm waiting for his take on Veer Birsa Munda!

BR Sir again you are the one person to have an long interview with Pa.Ranjith about the film having a question about scene, dialogues, art , editing, music and direction. The director has also answered all doubts some with laughter. Pa.Ranjith has a good vision in his script. Normal film reviewers cannot understand the film. Nice interview. Hats off to both of you.

Fantastic idea to release LCA for NN after the OTT release. Don't think the movie released in theaters overseas or for that matter in many other parts of India. So makes sense to release it now. Was really looking fwd to a deep dive after I watched NN and was disappointed when there wasn't one after it's release. All good now I Suppose. The cunning design is casteism is the everyone is an oppressor and oppressed the same time. Even within brahmins, there is levels, some allowed to touch idols and some can't. Similarly, within Dalit, there are so many layers. When someone feels oppressed, he finds consolation in oppressing someone else. That is a clever design and that is why it remains self-rejuvenating, reinforced without any external catalyst or governance body. For e.g., women oppression is regulated and reinforced by religion.
@SanthoshkumarSrinivasan892 жыл бұрын

Exactly. That only Qureishi can become the caliph. Or more than 90% of the Ashrafs become part of AIMPB law board in a secular country - which allows people to be a different person and different legal entity in india, BY RELIGIOUS BIRTH. Or how a women opression of triple talaq, putting pressure on women to wear full bodied clothes to stop enticing men or a marker to differentiate themselves from "slave or unbeliever" women is enforced by religious structures I'm NOT demeaning your crique of caste system. It's a disease we all know existing since 400 AD (according to BR Ambedkar) and further complicated by Turkic-persian and british colonization. But trying to map that crique to a particular religion ignoring the social incentives that existed and corrupted during colonial rule while giveing pass to other religions which practiced slavery across atlantic, indian and north african and Hindu Kush regions, sounds a bad faith critique to me. Even in Pakistan and Kashmir, hindu and christian dalits were mistreated horribly (check it out. They arae "officially" sewer workers). The point I'm making is whatever may be the origins of caste, it has gone beyond religion. If you want to talk about eradicating first understand motivations. No one is addressing the motivations but "assuming" that it is rooted in religion based on some "law books". I bet no one oppresses these days by caste while quoting a Manusmriti or any law book. But hell, in other religions terroristis kill others while quoting holy books.
@srbasha742 жыл бұрын
@@Astitha I agree with you totally, but I am not here writing a book on caste system. I was just commenting on top of what Ranjith said.

Main issue i had in the film is..... I dont listen to ilaiyaraja music much.. (I prefer ARR) It doesnt mean that i m against dalits.. Likes and dislikes of music is based on ones personal taste.And i didnt know ilaiyaraja belongs to one particular community before watching this film.

Watch the interview again, Ranjith answered it. The fight between Rene and Iniyan isn't about that!

He is saying that ilaiyaraja is prone to criticism becoz of his community.. But there is another side also right.. For some ppl.... they really didnt like his music.So i think its not right to make a generic statement like that becoz of the past issue he explained.

@@susiraslibrary1509 the second part is generic , the next gen has started liking Anirudh more than ARR but we have to deal with the first part it is specific to illayaraja

Compared to Ranjith's other movies, this one was okayish, lot of stuff seemed forced and rushed, almost like the director wrote the issues he felt was problematic in society and build a screenplay around it while ticking all of the boxes. The whole Beef scene was one such instance, either normalise it or spend good time on it, this felt so random af

Color is an illusion. The idea of superiority of colors white >black is an illusion. Can we say red color is superior to green? No right. We can have preferences but we cannot prove it objectively prove one color is superior to another. Like red, blue, yellow our skin color also has varied spectrum colors from darker to lighter tones. If we can’t tell red is superior to green, how can we tell lighter human skin color is superior to darker tones. On what basis we assign values like unclean, dirty to darker tones and pure, pristine to lighter tones. Many people in many countries have been affected, bullied, oppressed only based on this illusion of colors. This illusion is mainly perpetrated by media, fairness cream ads, movie degrading dark tone individuals. How many of us realized this ? Who is responsible for our color or identities? Where do we get our color? You don’t believe it or not, You are 50% of your mom and 50% of your dad. You can’t deny this fact. All human beings started as 46 chromosomes, 23 from mom and 23 from dad. The 23 chromosomes are nothing but smallest possible version of your mom and dad. The physical identities like color, height, facial features you got from your parents. The seed or 46 chromosomes which develops into a full human was not yours. It was given to you. How can you take responsibility for a trait which is not yours. So your parents are responsible for your color. If you ask the same question to your parents, who is responsible for their color. The answer repeats and your parents got their chromosomes from their parents. And it goes on until the origin. We also get other identities from our parents when we come in this world. Those identities are caste, religion, socioeconomic status. Your physical identities and social identities was not under your control. You didn’t ask for these identities when come into this world as a baby. It’s up to us to analyze the illusions when we mature and have a proper understanding of these facts.
