Watching Evan do art is like watching a thriller movie, I am always sitting on the edge of my seat. It is always the calm before the storm and the storm comes and goes in a flash. But the end results are always beautiful.

The torch pulls out bubbles, just like with resin, which pulls out cells. Your paintings dry craggly because you leave too much paint on the canvas. The top dries faster than the paint underneath which leads to cracks and waves. If you use less paint and tilt more, you'll get smoother paintings, if that's what you want.
@bellabreexo3 жыл бұрын
What if they pour resin on top to protect it, will that help it from cracking?
@DrTurtleBee3 жыл бұрын
@@bellabreexo if they pour resin on top before it's fully dried, I'm not 100% sure what would happen, but I imagine not good things. Resin doesn't like water, (acrylic being partially water based) and will discolor and cloud up and do funky things. If they wait until it's fully dried then the cracks will have already formed but could be filled and smoothed out with a thick layer of resin. They already did this with their first round canvases. You'll still see the cracks, but the surface will be smooth at least.
@bellabreexo3 жыл бұрын
So interesting! I like to know for future projects for myself! Thank you! 😀

They also have to make sure they clean ALL that silicone off before the resin or it will leave pits.

You gotta do a painters table. A table that has nails hammered in. Then you brush the nail heads with your brush to clean off the worst of the paint before finally cleaning your brush. Over and over with different colours. A bit time consuming but well worth it. When your ready to go you sand the table top flat and the colours show through as circles. Beautiful...

I think that the red might have been mixing in with the blue and purple which might have taken over the red. When you showed Evan's master piece at 34:10 you can kinda see red glow mixed with the other glows, but its very subtle because it looks like it was taken over by the mixture of the purple and blue glow. The red mixed with the other glows almost looks like a pinkish-purple galaxy/nebula color, why you many not have that red you guys wanted. Maybe try using more red and less of the other two glows?

Katelyn honestly was just as chaotic. I loved where hers was at multiple points in the process and saw lots of little images and then she shifted it and it would look like complete different images. First was a fish, then it was a dolphin, then it was a baby dolphin and a weird praying mantis like alien guarding a baby octopus in a piece of coral then it was a weird fish mantis alien and a baby fox guarding a weird rock/coral while the fox looked surprised/curious

I don’t know if it’s the same chemistry or not, but I know in hair color red is the largest color molecule and that’s why it’s the hardest to remove from the hair follicle once it’s embedded. If the red pigment molecules are also relatively large compared to the other mica powders and paint, then the red is probably sinking until the layers are thinner

Katelyn's art before the tilt definitely did look kinda like a fish, part of me wishes she had kept it like that but the end result was pretty cool too. Maybe if they do this again in the future they could do some that are abstract like these, and some that are actual designs on top of an abstract background or something. It reminds me of the Ghost Fish you ride on in It Takes Two, the giant Manta Ray from Moana, and the Ghost Leviathan from Subnautica - those would be pretty cool designs for a piece of art. Maybe they could do a future art project with a glow-in-the-dark theme and/or a sort of neon theme (like the Squirrel cave drawings in It Takes Two or the Grafitti in Mars Needs Moms).

You should use Dog tag necklace chains for flow acrylics! Dip the chain in paint, then lay it on a canvas letting all the chains meet in an area. Then pull on the chains and its makes SUCH a cool look! You can even use string/twine/yarn/etc if you don't want the look the chain gives. Even if you don't do flow acrylics, you can use a string in a book and make a cool design when you pull it out of a closed book.

With a swipe I do not use silicone in the base colors. Then I use a darker color with silicone at one edge of the canvas. Lightly swipe starting at the dark edge. Amazing results. Also make sure the center of the canvas is level with edge of the canvas, otherwise the paint settles in the middle. Just put something like a pie pan underneath.
