"Never give up. Never surrender." Fun Fact: Tim Allen admitted that he was quite star-struck when he met Sigourney Weaver, as he's a huge fan of Alien (1979). Allen even asked Weaver to sign some of his Alien Franchise memorabilia between takes. She ultimately did. Expanded Role Fact: Laliari is the first main role Missi Pyle landed in a feature film. Her role was expanded after the producers noticed Sigourney Weaver was the only female main character. Red Shirt Lives Fact: Despite frequent whining about his character Crewman Number Six being expendable and going to die, Guy Fleegman (Sam Rockwell) is the only crew member not to be shot and killed by Sarris (Robin Sachs) during his surprise assault towards the end.

The reason they look kind of funny walking is because in reality they have multiple legs and arms, so their natural walk get distorted by their appearance generators. Probably why they seem to clap so weirdly as well.

The Thermians modeled their Society on the Galaxy Quest ‘historical Documents” rather than other shows because one, they too were an advanced space faring race, but were being wiped out due to their Naive and peaceful Nature. Secondly, because the Galaxy Quest ‘crew” represented teamwork and perseverance in the face of hardship, and a willingness to fight for what’s right. ‘Never Give up, Never Surender.” They represented everything the Thermians Aspired to be, so they modeled every aspect of their society on them.

Apparently, the casting director loved Enrico Colantoni's (Mathesar) "alien" audition so much, it was used to teach the entire Thermian cast how to move and speak.

Not only is this a fun movie with an interesting premise, It's also a touching homage, and a love letter to the fans. Even the creators and actors from Star Trek have said they love Galaxy Quest. JJ Abrams said it was "one of the best Star Trek movies ever made" a🎉🎉nd at a Star Trek convention it was voted 7th best Star Trek movie at a convention in 2013 (of 12 official movies + Galaxy Quest) George Takei even called it "a chillingly realistic documentary."

I always love Alan Rickman's delivery of "By Grabthar's Hammer", both with the deflated mood in front of the electronics store opening, and later when he truly finds meaning in the phrase saying it to someone who genuinely looked up to him.

An added layer of enjoyment can be found in watching this film IF you are away of Leonard Nimoy's first autobiography 'I AM NOT SPOCK'. In that book he exposed William Shatner's behavior on the set of the original TV series Star Trek. From Nimoy's account--verified by Mr. Sulu and a couple of other performers on the show at the time--Capt Kirk constantly believed that HE was the star of the show, and kept insisting that the writers re-do scenes giving all the lines that the other characters were supposed to speak so that he got the best ones. Also, Nimoy insisted in that book that he was not--in real life--SPOCK and he would like his fans to stop asking him to say 'Live Long and Prosper' which was his 'catch phrase'.

I'm a lifelong Star Trek fan and this is one of my all-time favorite movies. It's loved by Star Trek fans and actors alike:) A beautiful example of a parody which is both a love letter to the original, and a genuinely good sci-fi adventure. And yes, please check out the original Star Trek! 1 is a bit slow and 5 is a bit bad but the rest is great!

"Galaxy Quest": The best "Star Trek" movie that Paramount didn't make.;) According to what I've read, Sigourney Weaver specified that her character be a Blonde. She felt her IQ dropping every time she wore the Blonde wig, which she began to wear off set...all the way home. Until we bought a Color TV in the late 1960's, I saw "Star Trek" on a Zenith black-and-white TV, and was unaware of "the Red Shirt" thing until later.

Since we cannot have the full OG cast (😭), it would be neat if they did a sort ofDocumentary Now! kind of thing, where the actors are different every time (I'm sure there's a better example of this, but I can't remember what it was) maybe just making cheesy episodes of the "historical documents" era of the show.

I liked the little detail of the food simulator creating meals for each crew member based on their place of birth. Commander Taggart gets steak that tastes like real Iowa beef, and coincidentally Captain Kirk said he came from Iowa, so they were giving Taggart a similar origin.

Here I come with a suggestion of another movie that works well with its original material: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Some fans of the books don't like it, but many others, like me, like it a lot. Although the movie came out a couple of years after the writer's death, he was involved with the script. I enjoy it a lot and I'd really like to see it for the first time again. Watching someone else's first reaction to it is the best I can hope for.
