What's funny is the whole "turns out the people who watched the show don't buy anything" is a real reason that has gotten shows cancelled.
@BobSmith-dk8nw4 жыл бұрын
Yeah. After Babylon 5's run ended they had another one called something like Crusader but - what would happen on TNT - was that people would tune in for Crusader - and then leave as soon as it was over. The network programmers wanted to get people to tune in and then not change the channel - which is what was happening with the Crusader Fans - so they canceled it. .
@patrickmoler80254 жыл бұрын
@@BobSmith-dk8nw I have heard differently. That JMS was tired of network interference. If I remember Crusade was on after WCW Nitro. Monday Night at 10pm.
@BobSmith-dk8nw4 жыл бұрын
@@patrickmoler8025 It's pretty much what I said: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crusade_(TV_series) See "Production Background". JMS felt that the network interference was to give them an excuse to say he hadn't done what he was supposed to - and get out of their contract - but they did want out of it for the reason I said. Sci-Fi Channel wanted to pick it up but didn't have room in their budget so it died. .

Because, after a few seconds of viewing this "HD 1080p" video, they realised the true quality was so bad that anyone watching it risked going blind. OK, maybe the supposed old footage had to have that grainy VCR look, but the star interviews, etc. deserve to be real HD. KZbin should have some means of assuring viewers that the video quality is what it claims to be.
@OpenMawProductions3 жыл бұрын
@@rogernoble6849 Okay, let's clarify. This IS a VHS copy of an actual mockumentary that aired on TV back before the movie came out in 1999 and acts as publicity for the film. The only reason I can see why they wouldn't release the "true quality" version is because of rights issues with whoever aired this originally.

@@zackmatulis4094 what about that animated show?
@zackmatulis40943 жыл бұрын
@@anthonyluetmer8499 I must admit I am not a Star Trek fan, and have not seen any episodes from start to finish. However, I am a huge redlettermedia fan and am one of the lunatics that can sit and enjoy listening to two people talk reminiscently about shows and movies I've never seen myself. They have done a great job of providing me a quick and dirty understanding of original Star Trek and the general concept of a *bright and optimistic* future for humanity. A concept completely absent in the modern garbage. What hollywood and CBS and the whole industry has done to Star Trek makes me weep for those of you who grew up with the original shows. Mindless action and violence mixed with the latest political agendas... Like everything else they produce. The animated show.... ughhhhh. Its all common denominator layperson garbage. That said, I stumbled upon Galaxy Quest yesterday as it is currently free to watch on youtubes official movie channel and couldn't believe what I was seeing. This movie is fucking hilarious and it actually leaves you invested. I started looking into the film and found this mockumentary a little while ago when I commented to you lol. I absolutely love the lore they created for this film and everybody was fantastic in it. Alan Rickman was fucking great as always, may he rest in peace. Tim Allen, Sigourney Weavers tits, and the whole cast where fantastic! interestingly enough, what Galaxy Quest gets absolutely spot on correct, is what modern star trek, especially the animated show, gets completely and utterly wrong. That is the believability of the characters capabilities or actions and the environment which they inhabit, or, are supposed to have created or maintain. In GQ a bunch of television actors suddenly find themselves in space on a ship and have to navigate their newly realized reality as regular people in a majorly foreign environment that they are not involved in or are used to. In modern Trek we are supposed to believe these characters are directly involved in the creation and maintenance of this galaxy hopping civilization when all of them are emotional wrecks, violent, murderous and frankly stupid... None of which are character traits of a race or civilization that would invent warp drives let alone space craft in general... Obviously it can be examined deeper than that, and plot holes and shit can be nitpicked, but you get what I'm saying. Modern Trek just doesn't leave you feeling that any of it could ever be possible when examining the behavior of the characters in it. The shows are meant to cater to the simpler minded masses who aren't questioning any of the technology or physics behind any of it, they just want to see characters they can relate with doing kickass action shit... Its sad really, and that's why I feel for true Star Trek fans. Its a show for stupid people now "DID U SEE FUKKIN PICARD LAST NITE??!! THOSE EXPLOSIONS!?"

@@zackmatulis4094 "None of which are character traits of a race or civilization that would invent warp drives let alone space craft in general..." What a gem! I laughed, then teared up, then laughed again - what a ride! This is supposed to be a little joke on the side, a "win-wink" type of injoke bonus material, but just like the galaxy Quest movie itself - it captures the whole Star Trek thing incredibly well in a very loving way. I played this with the mindset of "pretend this was REAL, man! have some immersive fun!" and I'm sure I would a Questarian if this made up show was real... This just shows how special Star Trek was in its prime time. I think no other show evokes the feelings it did. It's the pinnacle of feel-good TV, with Columbo and M.A.S.H. patting it on the back.
