Then on ALIENS at the discovery of the Facehuggers when the enter the colony Gorman bumps something that falls and her scared reaction was also real.

Another nothing good made now unlike 'back in the day' comment. Galaxy Quest was also better than 98% of what was made when it was made. Probably 98% better than most movies ever made. I do admit that since the eighties, movies more often stick to formulas that proven to work and there is less experimentation with big budget movies. Considering budgets kept going up this is hardly surprising. Hollywood was never ever making movies purely for the art.

There's been talk of a sequel, but for me this movie needs to stand on its own just as it was created, no sequel necessary or desirable. There's been talk of a sequel to 1956's Forbidden Planet, but, thankfully, nothing has yet come of that. What makes Galaxy Quest so brilliant is that it is able to, simultaneously, parody and revere the Star Trek franchise. Doing either well is hard enough, but doing both superbly is nearly impossible.

I just got it! I was wondering why Fred showed up so much later than everyone else. I thought it was awful considerate of the Thermian's to wait for Fred to get some soup. But no! It's smarter than that! Liliari had 4 pods ready for transport because Jason was expecting them to have good hearts and return. But Guy ended up tagging along, so Liliari calls in an extra pod. As Fred wanders off to look at the soup, Guy accidentally takes the pod that was prepared for Fred and leaves with the rest of the crew. Then, after a minute or so, Fred's pod is ready and he joins them. If only Guy didn't take Fred's. He'd probably have a much better time with a friendly welcome rather than probed by squids in the first 5 minutes of your adventure
